How long did you date before enagaged?
Jenny2014 replied to Tamster808's topic in Share your Wedding & Engagement Stories!
Mine is very similar to yours! We met in grade 9, so 14 years ago. Became best friends, but didn't start dating until grade 12. And have been together ever since. Got engaged on our 10th anniversary, and will be married on our 12th anniversary! I am a HUGE believer in long relationships! And will encourage our kids to do the same -
FI and I have decided to join the "eat within a 100 miles (kilometers) of home" club. However, the reasons we joined aren't strickly in keeping it local, and reducing our carbon footprint (which are awesome benefits!). We are doing what we can to cut out preservatives, hormones, and reducing how much crap we eat. So this will force us to accomodate our eating with what is available, and allow us to focus on exactly what we are eating. We're also going to join a gym (one close to us is having a deal, so we are hoping we can go in and get the rest of the year paid in full upfront at this deal, so as not to lose it). We are going to hold each other accountable for going- he actually wants me to get a personal trainer for the first few weeks, so that way I will be "forced" to go, and by default, he will as well haha. I also started to write a gratitude journal every day as well. It is called The Five Minute Journal. You write in it first thing in the morning- 3 things you are grateful for, 3 things that would make today great (3 things you can control- not just a sunny, warm day, but things like "I will stay positive when faced with a difficult coworker, etc.), and a daily affirmation (right now I am focusing on reminding myself I am strong, capable and beautiful, because I realized I haven't changed jobs (currently dislike mine with a sever passion) because I am terrified I will fail at anything different). Then, right before you go to bed, you write in it again. You write 3 amazing things that happened today, and about how could I have made today better. This is the "time machine" section, where if you said or did something you wish you could have done differently, you write it there. You write what you would have done instead. (aka yesterday I wrote that I would be a patient and understanding driver when behind a slow driver because I was not the best version of myself and was saying some not very nice things at the person in front of me, because there seemed to be no reason why they were driving so slow). It's a cool way of maintaining perspective and really seeing your day in the best way possible! So all in all, I think the past week has been good steps forward. Eating better, exercising properly, and maintaining a positive, grateful attitude towards my life should help in losing weight, fitting into that dress, and become a better, happier person! Funny enough, one of my mantra's is from The Help. "You is kind, you is smart, you is important".

Woooo! Another September bride!!!!

you can do it ladies!!!!!!

I worry that after all that, you can't do what you want with the picture. For that price you could get an amazing local photographer, get a ton of pictures and have all the rights to them...... I think it's a crazy amount of money to spend to not be able to post to facebook/twitter/instagram, etc. whenever you want...... Just my honest opinion

Any other 2014 brides here getting an early start?
Jenny2014 replied to beachbride14's topic in Newbies!!
Speaking of this, I want to marry in July 2014 and my TA told me to wait to Aug/ Sept to do everything meaning my hotel isn't booked yet which the hotel requires in order to confirm wedding date. I'm having anxiety....should I? I would say send out a std anyways. That way people know ahead of time and you can update them when you know more facts. We were able to send everything early, because we knew the location and resort right away. I think at the end of the day, you need to do what you want, and what fits into your timelines. -

STemple - You are just a day after me! I'm October 22 in Puerto Vallarta. I am struggling right now too with save the dates and invites. I am going to send my save the dates in July or August (still working on designing them and need to get them printed, and I want to complete my website so its ready when they are sent...plus I need to finalize the invite list, which I'm finding is the WORST part!). I'm thinking that since those are going out over a year in advance, we will then do the invites in December with an RSVP deadline for March. I'm still so confused over whats too early, etc.,but hey, I'm a planner! lol I do plan on having an informal "RSVP" section on the website, so that way if people know for sure one way or the other they can use that before the actual response cards are requested. Who knows if people will actually use that though or stick to what they say, so I am not depending on it by any means! Hey ladies! I am getting married Hahaha silly ipad thought that was all i needed to post! As i was saying! I am getting married about a month before you! I sent out my std's in may, and my invites about about 2 weeks ago. Waaayyyyy sooner than i had planned, but our ta locked in this years prices for us, so we had to get them out fast. I would say sending out your std's has no real timeline......it's just letting people know and the more time you give people to save, the better chance you will have with the being able to come! -

Hi Lydia, Yes, finally! haha Most people received theirs within 2 days, but a wack of them took almost two weeks to get to their destinations! Which is nuts- my parents received theirs two days after, but our friend who lives in the same postal code, across the park from them, didn't get his until almost two weeks later! It was insane! My friend out in Calgary received hers before some local people received theirs! I haven't had any negative feedback! Not that I was expecting any- most people tend to keep their mean comments to themselves haha. My parent's loved theirs- my mom took it to work and showed it off to all her co-workers haha. They knew what I was doing, but they had NO concept of what it would look like. They were very impressed, and so have our friends been as well. My best friend out in Calgary was so amazed by it; and even though she can't come, I am glad I am still including her in everything, because she is my barometer for how things are looking- my other friend, who I assumed would be that, didn't even let me know she received hers! I know she did because she RSVP'd on our website- but she never said anything to me!

Agreed! Sorry she made you cry! Have you let her know her comment hurt you? If you really didn't meant to upset you, then maybe she will apologize?

They look great!!! You get married just over a month after I do at Dreams We'll have to keep in touch through the Dreams thread, ensure our wedding's go beautifully! You will absolutely LOVE Dreams PV- it is stunning. -
Hey! We got engaged at Dreams September 2012, and are going back for September 2014 to get married. Check out my pictures to see what the resort looks like. As for excursions, I would use Vallarta Adventures- they have a wide variety of attractions and they are trustworthy and focus on safety of their guests. Plus, their guides are hilarious. When you are at the resort, if you can, do the baby sea turtle release! It might be over for the season now, but if your going back in 6 months for your wedding, that outs you there for December... they might still be doing it then! The resort also has a jungle tour- we didn't do it, but we talked to some guests who did and they said it was fantastic! It's not cost to you- part of your all-inclusive package! Also, if your adventurous, try the rock climbing- we saw some people do it, and I promised myself when we go back, I am going to do it. If you are able to, just based on my experience of the resort, try to have your ceremony on the beach, in front of Oceana/ kid zone. The background is just so much prettier, and it tends to be a bit more private- we noticed not as many people go over there. If you have it on the Seaside beach, people still tend to be milling around and it's more crowded. Plus, you have the infinity pool just off to the side, so everyone will be staring haha. Show us your wedding dress!
Jenny2014 replied to Jennifer's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
First, for a moment I panicked because I saw you changed your profile picture, and I thought your wedding had happened already! Glad it's so close but I didn't miss it.... but gorgeous picture anyways!!!!! Secondly, so sorry your job is stressing you out that much that you can't even enjoy your fitting and really take in these moments! Can they do anything about the boning to loosen it a bit for you?? Glad you love your dress! That is super important and it is just stunning! Can't wait to see final pictures of it! -
Something to keep in mind! Printed that off to file in my ideas for photography section! I don't know if I would consider an unplugged ceremony/ reception.... but I might consider asking guests to be mindful of the photographer. However, I guess it's really only for the ceremony, as we are having our reception back here and I am asking guests to be our photographer.
