  1. Oh I don't think I will.... and my Mom has already said if I do fall in love with another dress, we can sell this one, as we still have time. I don't think I will, as I love it more and more the longer time goes on since I bought it. I think once I put a veil on with this dress, no other dress will touch it. My mom works with a lady who is going to make my veil- we just have to buy the material, and pay for her time. Still probably be cheaper than buying one in the store.... and if not, well, something I can hand down to my daughter (if I have one!). I am looking to have something like this, to go with my dress: It has rhinestones throughout, with a thin silk edge to it. I wish I could say the same about drinking any calories..... totally have a cranberry and vodka last night. I don't know what the eff if up with me. No alcohol tonight/ the rest of the week. I didn't even realize what I did, until I was about half way done. Like seriously haha. FI is going down to Niagara Falls for a conference today through Saturday, and he is going on a wine tour this afternoon. I am soooooo jealous, as he doesn't even drink wine! But I have asked him to pick me up a small bottle of ice wine.....so I will totally and completely indulge in that on Sunday. LOVE ice wine, especially from Niagara. And I am sure this year was flipping fantastic, since it was soooooooo cold for so long!
  2. AHAHAHA. When I read this I was like oh...., well, okay then. Thank goodness you were joking, I was so busy trying to figure out how to respond positively and nicely LOL So your looking for something loose and flowy, not a princess kind of dress than? That's cool..... I had the same vision. I actually didn't think I was going to like the bodice of my dress- at first i thought it was too much. I had always envisioned something very simple, without much to is. Kind of like this: But I seem to have fallen for my dress, after I had major guilt over shopping without all my special people. I completely hear you on the not wanting the dress to be heavy- not something I want when having to stand on a hot beach, in the scortching Mexican sun LOL. Nice to (virtually) meet you Niki!
  3. have a beautiful and wonderful time Courtney!!!!!!!!!! Early congrats and can't wait to hear all about it when you come back!!!!
  4. Congrats! That is amazing, and you found a wonderful forum to help you with all your questions, and enjoy in the preparing for your beautiful day!!!!!!
  5. What kind of dress are you thinking of? (as you said not traditional). P.S. What is your real name? CAKnight just doesn't work for me! LOL
  6. ugh, so TWICE I started a response here with the proper quotes, and it got deleted. Stupid cell phone. So I am just going to say THANK YOU for your comment about my dress! I hope it will be beautiful! yes, timmy's coffee's are highly addictive, and high in fat and sugar, but soooo delicious. Within moderation of course. ummmm, let's see, what else. OH, Sunday's I am cool with! I think we should start a check in, weight loss thread. or do we just want to keep it in here. Scratch that, let's just keep it here! This is Operation Wedding Dress for all of us!! Let's go ladies! We can do it! I bought my dress in January, so...... about 21 months in advance! :S As much as I love my dress, I was terrified, because I knew I am not the size I want to be at all. But luckily, my mom understands and knows that, and pushed me to buy the dress in a size that didn't fit me on the day of, knowing it will motivate me to lose the weight and be the most beautiful version of me I can be on my wedding day. I didn't really get the "wedding dress" shopping experience, so I am going out shopping with girlfriends and my mom, FMIL, and grandmother, so they feel a part of this whole adventure with me. Plus, I only tried on like 4 dresses, and I felt like a fat cow in every single one of them. I want to try on some dresses that fit, and have that experience, as that is why we are doing this whole wedding thing in the first place! It's all about not missing our on the experiences in life- having those "check" moments.
  7. haha! No worries! For a second, take a breath! Relax! and Congratulations!!!! It is truely wonderful you are getting married again, and want to incorporate your kids into the ceremony. 1.) from my experience (and from the experience of some of the brides on this thread), they aren't flexible with many changes. You can't really substitute much with the packages. The only thing that seems to be able to change is using the photography from the packages for another event instead. But you can't take anything out to make the package cheaper, or exchange the mexican trio with the mariachi band/etc (without there being an additional cost). 2.) There is a wonderful thread about different ceremonies you can do, that incorporate kids and family members into it. http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/t/4785/unique-ceremonies 3.) if you want to do a legal marriage at Dreams, there are quite a few steps you have to take (translating documents into spanish, getting an apostille seal, a blood test, etc. many of us are getting married at home either before or after the ceremony at Dreams simply to avoid that cost. Foe example, all the changing of documents, shipping out to them, blood tests, etc would have cost me probably easily $700-$800, if not more. Getting legally married here will cost me less than $500. So it was a no brainer for me. Plus, since we are doing it exactly one year ahead of time, it makes the wait for our big, special wedding much more bareable! 4.) Keeping costs down completely depends on your budget. We didn't necessarily set a budget, but I knew in my head I didn't want to go over $20,000 (two week trip included). Right now we are sitting at just below that, with a little bit of help from my parents. I took a stand, and told both sets of parents that we were only paying for 29 people, and that anyone over was on them. So they increased our invite list to nearly 80 (which is giving me major anxiety). Now I will be keeping track of who comes from their invite list versus ours, and am creating a tally of all my increase in costs (invites, save the dates, welcome bags, bonfire, etc.) because this is not something I am willing to pay for. I would sit down with your beautiful fiance, and figure out a budget. Figure out what is important to you that you absolutely could not do without (photography, dj, flowers, etc.), and what you are willing to give up. Many of us also do a love of DIY stuff, to help keep those costs down (I am making all of my invites, save the dates, reception and ceremony decorations). 5.) I decided to go with an outside photographer and will just use the package photo's for our bonfire. I wasn't impressed with the prices I was seeing that other brides were posting that Dreams was going to charge per picture/ additional photo's to the package. And it still remained with such a limited number of pictures. I am going with Photoshoots Vallarta, and their package price is amazing, with sooooooo many photo's. WHEW. I hope this helped a little! Let me know if you have any more questions!
  8. Best of luck to all you lovely ladies! I hope my advice helps so many fun colour schemes to think about! I am basing my colours around the blue orchid and pink tiger lily. Deep purple, bright blue and vibrant pink
  9. Love this notquitealush forum! So entertaining and yet so filled with open and honest conversation!
  10. I have been to Dreams (got engaged there), so I know what it is like, the service you can expect and how absolutely wonderful it all is! What sort of advice/insight are you looking for? Ask any question and we will all do our best to answer it!
  11. I am a HUGE fan of bright colours. What if you did the pomaders the sangria colour, with white mixed in, and the chair sashes green? Then you can do the table runner a green, and it pulls it from the sashes, up to the table, and then up to the pomaders in the vases?
  12. Island Love? I duno, I seem to be having the same issue as you. When trying to force myself to be witty and creative, my mind is a dull blank
