  1. Just the BM, and I just have a MOH. The bout situation was going to depend on the vest situation. If I could get either of them to plan ahead, we could all go tMacy's at the same time and just see hwo it looks! Boys....
  2. I'm stuck with the men's attire. We are going to have my FI in a light(er) gray vest and pants, white shirt, and then eggplant tie (our color). I'm torn as to what we should have his BM wear. I was leaning towards putting him in the pants, and perhaps ditch the vest. Maybe put him in a slightliy darker color dresshirt (closer to eggplant?) to make him stand out a bit? These men's outfits are trickier than my dress!
  3. Unfortunately I don't have a picture of me in it yet, but this is the dress I picked. NOTHING like what I wanted, walked right past it in the salon! I always envisioned something lacy, but felt great in this one. It looks a lot better on me than on the model (I believe, not to sound vain!) because she's so skinny. But I worry, I didn't want to get a dress that looked sort of like a nightgown? If you know what I mean?
  4. Congrats! I know it's totally overwhelming. Keep in mind hurricane season, which runs from June - October. We choose May, because April can be really heavy with spring breakers, and we didn't really want that vibe. We also read that May is one of the cheaper months. I HIGHLY recommend using a travel agent. We weren't going to originally, but now are so glad we are because we are getting better rates and it's must less stress. Everything is just booked through her. It was important to us that the resort was all-inclusive and adult-only, and that's one of the reasons we chose El Dorado Royale. To give an idea, it's about $2500 for 6 nights. This is the total cost for two people for air, hotel, and transport. Since it's AI, there will be no additional costs. If you need any more information feel free to message me. I just got engaged October 5th, and we already were able to pick a date and book our resort. Good luck, reach out if you need anything!
  5. After much back and forth, we decided to legal get married here before we left. In Mexico, the requirements were just too much. You had to be in the country 4 days prior, which either cut into our trip or required extra $$ to stay longer. Also, they required blood tests once you're there, which my FI and I just couldn't deal with....I hate needles!! We've only told my mom about it, to see if she would be offended or think it was rude to be invited to a "fake" wedding, and she said we should do whatever makes us happy. It will also save about $500 to do it in the States, after all the doctor bills, translation, paperwork, etc.
  6. That sounds great...now I feel behind! Haha. Is your resort handling a lot of stuff? The thing that I didn't read was decor for the space. Flowers, linens, etc. Or maybe planning the ceremony? For example, I know we're doing a sand ceremony.
  7. Obviously I've never been to either, but our travel agency deals with ED all the time and has great relationships with them. She said Seaside was amazing, but has a bit more of a "couple" and romantic feel to it. So maybe that's a god thing!
  8. If possible, could you take one of the presidential gazebo? I'm curious if it looks like the pictures provided by the WC. Thank you!!
  9. Thanks everyone for all your input! I have a feeling my MOH is going to end up throwing it, however everyone who isn't invited to the DW will know there is going to be an AHR. So hopefully no one is offended. Wedding politics!
  10. I think we're leaning towards Calla Lilies, they come in a really beautiful eggplant color. Then on the other end my MOH can have white/cream colored ones. Are you on Pinterest? I posted several options I really liked on my board, also the same username as this. If not let me know and I can PM you or post some here.
  11. How are all you ladies handling the whole bridal shower situation? We are only inviting siblings and parents, and then having an AHR/nice dinner at a restaurant a few months after we get back. I know etiquette states you are only supposed to invite people to a shower who are invited to the wedding, in which case it's silly to have one. But since we're doing something after we're back and inviting all extended family, friends, etc., would it be appropriate to have one? My MOH wants to throw one, but I don't want to offend anyone. The rules get more confusing with a DW!
  12. I need everyone's advice! We just got our WC and need to pick one of the following for our ceremony....sadly 55 is not available. Either White Gazebo, Mexican Gazebo or Presidential Gazebo. We were leaning more towards the White or Presidential since it's more beachy. We also need to pick if we'll use the Health Bar, Salon Dorado or Beach area for the private reception. Any thoughts?? There will be about 25 people. Thanks ladies!! If anyone has pictures of the different areas that'd be great.
  13. We're going with an eggplant color, guys will be in gray suits. The light gray and eggplant look really nice and rich together.
  14. No, we're only inviting 28 and expect all to come. My extended family and friends, if we were having a traditional wedding, would include probably at least 125.

  16. What is everyones color scheme? I hadn't really put any thought into this, but lately I've been seeing a lot of deep purple and really been gravitating towards it. I thought it would look really nice with the light gray suit my FI is going to go with (something like the below). My question: is a deepish purple too dark for a beach wedding in May? My dress is kind of elegant/glam/old Hollywood and I thought purple was a regal color to go with it. I look really terrible in warm colors, so we were definitely going to go with a green, blue, or purple. Any input would be appreciated! Please be honest...we haven't picked anything yet so I'd rather know now than after we start buying stuff! Like the below are some examples I liked:
  17. Looks like I'm about the week before you at EDR! Have you looked at the EDR thread at all? There is so much information there that's been helpful to me. Feel free to send me a message or anything if I can help Maybe we could even share decorations if we are doing any of the same stuff. Are you having a large wedding?

  20. I highly recommend going with a travel agent. We were trying to do it ourselves, but soon learned it would be too stressful. The TA will have access to chartered flights and other information you don't. For example, they might already be able to see flights that are booked that far out. Having one has been really helpful, as they do this for a living. Plus this way, all our guests have to do is call her to arrange everything. Much fewer phone calls to the FI and me

  22. Has anyone worked with Claudia as a WC? I think that's who our TA said would be contacting us...
  23. It's actually NOTHING like I thought I was going to chose. I had been wanting something either chiffon or lace, however I wasn't happy with any of those. My consultant pulled a dress I would've never picked for myself, but that I love. It's very timeless, kind of old hollywood glam. It looks a lot better on me than on this model, as I fill it out better with an hourglass shape. I don't think the picture does it justice, the beaded straps are beautiful.
