  1. It's been my understanding from recent brides that they do not allow you to do that anymore, and my WC told me that would not be an option, unfortunately.
  2. We are having an AHR, but I use that term loosley. We are only inviting siblings and parents to the wedding (he has 6 siblings, I have 4...) so we're keeping it very small. That being said, we each have large extended family and friends that want to celebrate. So two months after our DW, we're going to have something here. We found a restaurant (John Barleycorn) that had a really reasonable brunch option - $16 per person. So it's not a real "reception" in that we won't have dancing and whatnot, it will be a lot more casual. More a celebration of the wedding. We'll have our pictures by then, so we'll use their AV equipment to have these going throughout the even for everyone that wasn't there.
  3. Just send me your email, you'd have to have 150 posts to open it on here. I can send the PDF and publisher version.
  4. Like an at home reception? Or at the resort?
  5. I was told total - for both ceremony and reception. So if I had 10 people, it would be $50 total for the day.
  6. Clearly I haven't been yet, but I vote no (as I did for myself). Based on other people's opinions about the sub-par quality, it wasn't worth it. I figured since each will be getting cheesecake for dessert, that would suffice. Maybe ask yourself if you'd rather spend $85 on a cake people may or may not want, or would you rather spend that on something else for the wedding....or a massage
  7. That makes sense. All of our family and friends live within 1 1/2 hour of us, so it didn't make sense not to have one. We're going to just do a casual brunch buffet at a restaurant around here. Nothing fancy, but a nice time to meet with everyone, show all our wedding pictures, etc.
  8. Another thing to check off, decided on a place for our AHR! It's quite a ways off, but I just wanted to have it figured out since I expect time to start flying. Hard to believe it's already the end of January!
  9. Yeah, after we heard about the welcome bag fee we decided to just hand them out ourselves. When Allie got down there the setup was less than she was expecting, so I'm hoping the same happens for us. Unfortunately at this point I've just accepted it will cost what it costs, because we have to have decorations, so we're just going to hope for the best.
  10. We're planning on just going out after our private dinner to celebrate, since we're not having a DJ. Reading these posts is getting me a little worried about the "night life" there....do you think we'll be okay and have a good time? We were just gonna go right after, I was gonna rock my wedding dress.
  11. Unless you have 150 posts you wont' be able to open, I'd need your email, if you want to PM it to me. Thanks!
  12. Thanks, I'm also inept and don't have the patience. I just found some on Etsy I liked, showed him, and asked him to replicate If anyone wants me to send it to them as a template, let me know! I'm more than happy to and have already done so for many of my fellow El Dorado brides.
  13. I asked him, and he said he gets all his good electronic deals from Tiger Direct (aka CompUSA). I don't know where exactly you live, they do have a store out here by me, but they also have some online: http://www.tigerdirect.com I don't know about you, but I'm also obsessed with Amazon. I bet you could find a good deal on there, and if you find one that qualifies for Free Super Saver Shipping then that's a bonus
  14. It was me! Still keeping any eye, will ask my FI if he had any luck. I've been ragging on him to work on our paper products, so he probably forgot. I vote bring your own, but that's just me and probably because that's what I'm doing How many people are you having again? We are having probably 25 and I think the player should be enough for Health Bar, which is also where ours is.
  15. Gotcha. Well I have all the documentation from my WC via email, if you want any. You can also view the wedding packages online, and all the add-ons, if that helps you. Just google "Lomas Wedding" and it'll take to their website. Let me know if you need any prices beyond that and I'll see what my WC sent me
  16. This is the million dollar question. There is a set-up fee. Many of us have been quote a $5 per person fee, however others have gotten down there and just been told it's a flat fee, such as $150. I have been told this will be determined once we get down there. So at this point I'm just keeping my fingers crossed.
  17. Just sent it via email. FYI it is a Microsoft Publisher file, so you'll need that in order to edit.
  18. Allie is right on. Do you have your WC yet? They should be able to email tons of pricing info. If not feel free to ask here or send a private message
  19. Thanks! That's the name of the restaurant where we're having our reception at the resort. Kind of a weird name, I know
  20. Just finished our timeline for the welcome bags! Well, my FI just finished them...but I'm very happy So glad he's figured out Publisher, because doing our own menu, programs, and timelines is saving us a lot of $$!!

  22. We are going to bring our iPod player with it. I couldn't justify spending a couple hundred dollars to play an iPod for our small group of 25. You can buy them so cheap nowadays, and we didn't need anything crazy since there were so few of us. We also didn't think we'd need to rent the mic and all that, since there won't be a big group of us to hear speeches and stuff. If you decide to buy one and want some sites that have good deals let me know, my FI is always looking at all that electronic stuff (that we don't need....)
  23. I had provided my WC a list of all we were bringing - somewhat similar to yours, maybe a little less. She then said with "that much" it could easily be more than $5. Don't want to freak you out, but just something to keep in mind. At this poing I've decided not to worry about it, it is what it is and we'll worry about it when we're there. Allie made a good point to me earlier that there's no point stressing, because when she got down there it was less than they had been expecting/quoted. So, like Allie, I'm going to take probably $150 or $175 to our meeting with our WC. When she asks for the setup fee I'll tell her we have this much cash on us, otherwise we'll have to charge it or wait and take out more money or something. I'm hoping she'll just take the cash to make it easier.
