We were originally planning on having our wedding here in Canada, but all of a sudden everyone had their opinions. We were tempted to elope as well, but my mom and grams said they have to be there so then it wouldn't really be eloping lol. We decided to say screw it and do a destination wedding because they seem so stress free. But of course, people still have their opinions especially about the cost to travel there, what time of year we chose, who can't come etc. at the end of the day, whoever wants to be there will be come. That's a great idea to just extend the invitation and let people know you're getting married there. Now that sounds stress free . Congrats on your gown! I have my first appointment this Saturday. I can't wait !!!

Hey !! My ceremony is at 3 at well. At first they were trying to give me a time of 1pm on a different day! That's way too early! I do think 3 pm is a great time (although 4pm would've been ideal lol). I'm haven't really thought of what do in the meantime either. Maybe a cocktail hour? It's not really enough time to get changed and go for a swim. Hmmm...I think the idea of having everyone meet for drinks is great. I think that's what we're gonna look at as well. We'll be there til the 28th so maybe I'll see ya!

Hey ladies! I thought I would introduce myself on here. We have our date at the Majestic, July 23rd 2013 ceremony at 3pm. I am so excited!!!! If I hadn't found this thread, I would've been at the Colonial. I fell in love with the Majestic but for some reason I thought it was adults only?? Anyway, I have booked Pastor York after reading great things about him on BDW. PhotoPhil leaves a week before our wedding so unfortunately we won't be able to book him. I asked him to refer me to another photographer and he hasn't responded in a while (Only 4 days but feels like eternity when you're planning a wedding lol). Any suggestions? Also... I am having a really hard time deciding between having the ceremony on the beach and the gazebo. I really wanted the beach but now I'm thinking that at 3pm, the beach will still be crowded and it'll be so hot. Decisions, decisions!! :-)

Hey Everyone! My name is Chelsea I have been poking around this website for a few weeks now and there is so much useful information! And so much talent in the DIY section which has inspired me to do my own invites. We were originally planning on a wedding in Ottawa 31 Aug 2013, (majority of our family is all over Ontario) but soon after the complaints in regards to our reception location started to surface, the stress of planning a wedding and pleasing everyone began. So my FI and I decided that a destination wedding is the way to go! I suppose it was a blessing in disguise. We narrowed our destination down to Punta Cana. I have spent the last three weeks researching resorts and I finally decided on the Majestic Colonial. My Travel agent is waiting to hear back from them. Then I found the forum on the Colonial / Elegance and all along, I thought the Elegance was adults only. And now that I know it's not, I am hoping my TA can get us a date there in early July. I didn't realize how far in advance they get booked... So my fingers are crossed!! I'm so excited!!!!!
