  1. Lol I'm such an idiot! I thought jrack's comment was yours lauriewilde so that's what I was replying to. I was thinking hmmm march 20th is coming up pretty quickly if your Save the dates hadn't gone out yet. Well I'm glad it all worked out for you! That's plenty of time for people to decide as well as save! Happy planning!
  2. I live in Edmonton and the job market is fantastic here. I think the cost of living is higher in Calgary but it's a beautiful city and so close to the mountains. Most of mine and my FI's family are in Ontario. Be prepared for the coldest winters lol. And our summers here don't even compare to the long, hot summers in Toronto! haha. But I do love it here in Alberta, our income tax is lower and we don't pay HST, only GST. I'm sure you'll love either city!
  3. They look amazing!!! You guys did a fantastic job. I DIY'd mine as well and my fiance did the cutting lol. A true labour of love!
  4. Sorry, I didn't even realize that you had responded. Yes March 20th is quite early and it's coming up quickly. So they have to pay in full by August? I had the option to have an incredible rate with Westjet vacations ($1500 incl taxes from Edmonton and my Toronto guests were less than 1300) but it had an early booking bonus and everyone had two weeks to pay in full. I hadn't even sent the invitations or any save the dates yet. So I went with a higher group rate with ACV ($1700 from Edm) but the guests had 3 months to put a deposit down and dont have to pay in full until the end of April. I didn't feel right about putting the pressure on guests. Of course I want the best rates but I also want us to be with the same carrier! We ended up getting two free passengers (ACV Promo) with our group and normally the bride and groom fly for free but we applied the credit to everyone's file. It doesn't work out to much when you have a lot of people going but at least it's something right? If I had been more prepared, I would've sent out Save the Dates a year out and let people know what our intentions were and that we are going to jump on the best rate so be ready to book. But I really didn't know what I was doing lol. Another thing though... there was an "early booking bonus" with ACV as well that required everyone to pay their deposits in a short amount of time but I declined that and decided to wait it out. Well the rates were published after the whole "Early booking Bonus" thing and they weren't that much higher than what I was originally quoted. So keep that in mind too. Sometimes TAs will put the pressure on you to book ASAP but you're still pretty far out. Did you shop around for your rates? Did you already contact the guests?
  5. Honestly, I would give my template to anyone so they didn't have to deal with the hassles of cutting, pasting, resizing, etc in a heartbeat! It was SO frustrating. But I did purchase the template from http://www.ayleebits.com/templates.htm for $10 so I just don't feel right about it because it was her awesome template that I started with. Anything else I can help with, let me know! Thanks for your feedback!
  6. I googled it and this is what I found! Let me know if you're able to open the attachment. If not, I can email it to you! COAT OF ARMS.docx
  7. Vanessa, thanks so much for the detailed info! My mom will definitely appreciate this!
  8. Each golfer has to rent their own clubs (through the course). We are flying ACV and we were quoted $20 each way to bring a set of clubs on the plane (there are a lot of golfers in my family). There's a few guests considering bringing their own but I'd be worried about storing them in the room? A good set is worth a lot of $$. Plus what a pain in the butt lugging them around. But apparently when you're an avid golfer, your own clubs are never an inconvenience haha. I get annoyed dragging them in and out of my car just going to the golf course lol.
  9. Seriously, check out the Majestic Elegance/ Colonial Brides Facebook page. This topic has bring brought up so many times and they do an awesome job on the hair. You can check out pics there! I am definitely getting my hair done there. If you want to look at outside vendors, there is a Canadian Makeup artist/ Hairstylist that goes to Punta Cana in the Winter and she's very popular. Her name is Krystie Ann and she also has a Facebook page. I looked into hiring her but she won't be there during my wedding. Don't quote me on this, but I'm sure I read on the Majestic FB page that you have to pay her $40 cab fare as well as the $300 vendor fee!
  10. Hey Julie! I ordered mine through this Ebay Seller: http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=400254629886#ht_3774wt_966'>http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=400254629886#ht_3774wt_966 I'm on a FB Page that brides post on from the resort I'm getting married at and one of the girls used this eBay seller. They sell in smaller quantities so if you only order 20, I can probably give you at least 10 because I am thinking that I'll only end up needing about 38. I haven't received them yet but I will let you know how they turn out! http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=400254629886#ht_3774wt_966 Oh and it cost $24.98 total.
  11. Oooh I'm glad to hear yours turned out! I ordered from a different seller! So hopefully mine honours my colour requests as well lol. The only reason I even considered watches was because we were at an all inclusive in Mexico this past December (hanging around the pool bar lol) and you wouldn't believe how many times my FI was asked for the time. Honestly, I looked around and it seemed as if he was the only person wearing a watch haha. So I am absolutely positive that everyone will appreciate these!! They are selling for $1 each at the Dollarama! Crazy! Anyway, I am SO glad to hear that yours turned out. I'll keep ya posted on mine!!
  12. That's a great idea!! I was thinking for cameras but people use their cellphones to take pics.
  13. Quote:Originally Posted by Ashley Lovlin I just ordered the same lot a few days ago (mixed colors) and got the email today that they shipped. Maybe it is because they have to pick out your colors, but really, how long does it take to do that lol. Ill let you know what mine are like when I get them. I got a few extra in case there are any duds Mine shipped yesterday!! I hope they actually send the colours I requested but I doubt it lol. I'm pretty pumped about the watches. It is an awesome idea for the bags and no one really wants to wear their expensive watch around!! I ordered extra as well lol
  14. That was the first place I went to get quotes. The girl never called me back!! I knew that it would take some time to obtain the group rate from ACV but we had to call her a week and a half later. And this was at the St. Albert location. When I did receive my quote, it was much higher than everywhere else. Definitely shop around!!
  15. Hey ladies!! How's everyone's workouts going?? I started month 2 this morning and holy crap it's tough!! Not to mention, it took me a few tries to get the exercises down. I felt pretty uncoordinated, confused and slow during the workout hahah. This is the sorest I've been so far, so that must be a good sign! Elissae: I do Weight watchers too (the online) so I can track what I eat. I LOVE that program and not having to worry about counting calories. Chocotaco: Have you done the Asylum as well? I will be sad when this workout is done so I was thinking about ordering it. And yeah I gained a few pounds too but it's definitely muscle. I can't believe how awesome my cardio is!! I have always been active and I'm obsessed with yoga but my cardio has never been this great since Insanity! Do any of you hear the annoying music from the Insanity workout in your head when you go to eat something bad? lol I do!! Must be losing it!! I guess there's a few of us on month 2 now!! Wooooo hooo!! Way to go!!!!
  16. http://www.dhgate.com/lose-money-promotion-1atm-waterproof-anion/p-ff80808136b054a20136c6192a174fee.html I'm still waiting for the watches to ship. I ordered 2 lots of 20 and it came to $23.36. I asked for certain colours so maybe that's why they haven't shipped yet? Apparently these are waterproof. They sell the same ones at the Dollarama I believe.... Hopefully they come soon so I can let you know how they turned out!! It is a great idea to have in the bags.
  17. Thanks for sharing this Tamara! So many great ideas. You looked stunning and I love that dress. I bought my dress from Diana at Nouvelle as well.
  18. Does anyone know a good site to order rhinestone cake ribbon from?
  19. Hey Krystina, People that have chosen to do a Symbolic Ceremony hire Pastor Rick York so that it's not just the Wedding Co-ordinator performing the cerermony. He makes it very personal and does a religious or contemporary ceremony. You will only have to have the judge marry you if you are doing a civil ceremony. Originally a Civil was our plan but it was really difficult to work out a date and the time we wanted. There was no way I was having my ceremony at 11 lol. In hindsight, I'm very happy we made this decision. We are doing the paperwork a few days before we leave but our wedding will be in Punta Cana. Also I don't like the idea of waiting for the marriage certificate, the cost is much less and we aren't worrying about translating documents. Our family and friends don't know this is the route we are going and we don't plan on coming out and announcing it but if anyone asks, we'll explain and I know they'll understand completely. Hope this helps and happy planning!!!
  20. lol it adds up quickly. Our travel (flights and accommodations for FI and I - 7 nights) and my dress/FIs attire alone come to 6k. So that doesn't really work for us...
  21. Lol well maybe this was the way to go because they look awesome. I'm sure your guests will love them!
  22. Where are you located? Are you doing a group booking? I have never heard of the rates changing every two weeks but I know when you book from the states it's different. We had a group rate and it was good for 90 days. I missed the window to send out Save the Dates but as far as wording goes, just put your wedding date and place in there and your wedding website address. It's still pretty far out but it gives people the opportunity to book time off of work and save $$. I sent out my invites 8 months before my wedding and by the time guests received them, they had three months to put a deposit down to secure the group rate. There are still some guests that may come and if they book, they have the option of going through my travel agent to get a new rate because they missed the deadline or they can make their own arrangements. I think Save the Dates are more so to give people a heads up. A lot of times people will let you know their intentions right away. I hope this helps you out a bit. Check out the DIY STD thread and I'm sure you'll get some great wording ideas.... some people just do a magnet with the wedding date, location and perhaps the wedding website.
  23. Wow these look amazing! What a great idea to have the "if lost please return to" Love it!!!
  24. Thanks for sharing!!! Wow you are so ahead of the game!! I thought I was lol. They look awesome! The OOT shopping has been so fun. I will be sad when I'm all done haha
