  1. Just wondered what is typical or appropriate. FI and I are getting married here in the states a week and a half prior to our DW on Isla Mujeres, MX. Do we wear our wedding bands after legally getting married at our courthouse, or wait until we have our symbolic ceremony in Mexico? I love our bands and can't wait to wear them, but I don't want the ring part of our MX ceremony to be anti-climatic. What do other couples do? Or what is appropriate? Thanks in advance!
  2. Here's my DHGate dress with my shoes and jewelry... it's not zipped, I'm taking it in for alterations this week (need about an inch in the back). And it needs steamed: Back:
  3. Here's my dress from DHGate with my shoes & necklace, but it's not zipped, taking it in for alterations this week. It also needs steamed: Back:
  4. I'm so glad you asked. I'm wearing heels no matter what, and our ceremony is on a cliff with sand and rock. I'm really hoping I don't fall on my face.
  5. Thanks for the encouragement, mstigger! It's killing me not to go have my dress altered right now, I'm not a patient person with stuff like that. The shot glasses came! They're a gift from my Mom, 8 of them, one for each of our guests: The toe rings and acrylic tumblers came, too. I did not like the stick-on letters I got for the cups, they weren't staying well, so I ordered vinyl letters from an etsy seller. She's doing full names instead of just single letters, and all 8 names were only $10. I tried my dress on with my shoes and jewelry, and love love love the necklace and shoes with the dress. I didn't realize the earrings were clip-ons, however, and one of them came apart. I hate clip-ons, so although I could fix the one earring, I went ahead and ordered others from another etsy seller. They're teal and rhinestone 16mm rounds and I think they'll be perfect with the necklace. My MOH friendship bracelets have been shipped, so those should be here today and tomorrow. I can't wait to give hers to her, I love her so much, and I know it will be a special moment for us. Her husband is our BM, they still are on the search for what they're wearing... I left it up to them. Oh, and the beach bags themselves came in. They're much bigger than I thought they would be since they were only $9.00 each! Instead of having them monogrammed, I bought iron-on letters at JoAnn's in colors that coordinate with each bag's handle. I'll have to get pictures of those. Today I'm going to order the personalized cigar bands, next week Dave and I will go to a cigar shop and get some higher-end cigars. Dave said to wait until we get to Mexico so we could buy Cubans, but I know we won't want to stop at duty-free on the way in and I want the bags ready to be put on each guest's bed as soon as we get there. Everyone's flights are booked... we get in super early in the morning with one couple (same flight), we'll have time to catch the ferry to Isla, drop our luggage at the house, hit the grocery store for wine and some essentials, and get back to the ferry dock to pick up the other two couples whose flights land right around 11am. We're trying to decide if we just want to grill dinner at the house that first evening since we want it to be low-key as the wedding is the next day. Our group likes to party, and we don't want to be dragging the next day. I can't believe we're about 40-something days away!!!
  6. Thank you all so much, ladies! The jewelry came from Dressbraw (in China, I believe), here's the link to the specific set: http://www.dressbraw.com/product/Handsome-Alloy-With-Blue-Rhinestone-Wedding-Jewelry-Set-Including-Necklace-And-Earrings-Dx-1808744.html . I searched and searched for exactly what I wanted, and this was it! I have been knocked back with an abcessed molar . Root canal in 3 days, but so much pain and swelling! I'm just so glad this didn't happen while we were in Mexico! The good news is that I have lost 3lbs just this week since I can't really eat. That puts me at 9lbs since January 1, and I'd like to double that by March. My dress came and it's made soooo well, I love it so much! I was so nervous it would be or look cheap, but it's a very heavy taffeta with lots of boning and padding at the top, very full at the bottom - just what I wanted! It's a tad snug, so I'm giving myself until Feb 1 to be able to zip it or I'm taking it to a seamstress. As I am now, it's about 1" too small. I can do an inch, right?
  7. FutureMrsCPM, I got them from Amazon.com, they're by Funtasma - here's the link... http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B006XGJVOG/ref=ox_ya_os_product . They don't come in half sizes, so I went up 1/2 size and they're perfect. They have gone up in price since I ordered, by about $5.
  8. Trivera - it was $116 with free shipping. I tried it on, but my daughter (10) couldn't get the zipper past a tricky seam and I didn't want to risk breaking the zipper. So as soon as I can find someone besides my fiance to zip it for me, I'll post pics of me in it. In the meantime, here are a couple of pics of the dress hanging in my son's room (messy, sorry). It obviously needs steamed/pressed, but it's made so well!
  9. Barash - Here's the dress I ordered: Here are the pictures they sent me: And here it is hanging up at home (my son's room is a mess, but has great light!) It obviously needs steamed, but was very nicely made.
  10. Oh my goodness, I LOVE my DHGate dress! It's perfect. Needs no alterations, is a very heavy taffeta, has plenty of boning and padding in the bust, it's so much better than I could have ever hoped. I'll post pictures later, I need help zipping it. So relieved and excited to wear it in 2 months!
  11. YAY My DHGate dress arrived today!! I'll try it on later, I need help zipping it, and I'll post pics. It's made of a very heavy taffeta, the stitching is perfect, needs NO alterations, and it honestly looks like it cost 10 times as much as it did. I'm so relieved and cannot wait to wear it in 2 months! The vendor is BeautyBride, I'll be leaving them a great review.
  12. Just an update, I missed my DHL delivery today, but I'm leaving the form on the door for them to leave it even if I'm not able to sign for it tomorrow. I just hope I have an opportunity to try it on privately! I may have to have my 10yo daughter take a pic for me .
  13. Hmmm, I swore I posted a reply.... Houston, you'll love Isla! It's a place that you fall in love with, truly. And we love Cabo, as well, I'll have to search for you on the boards and see where you're getting married. Here are my flowers, Bridal bouquet, MOH bouquet, Groom's bout, and BM bout: I finally got the pictures of my dress, and I'm thrilled with it! I actually got them last month, but didn't know the message was waiting for me. Oops. They made the skirt full just like I asked, and without any extra charge! $116 for my wedding dress, not too shabby . We booked our flights last week, our flight in is direct, thank goodness. Another couple who is going to the wedding is flying with us. And our return flight the following weekend isn't until the afternoon, which is nice so we don't have to take the ferry off of the island at the crack of dawn. Next week I'll order the gift bag items and hopefully will have heard back from the wedding planner so we can place our deposit with her. She has already reserved our date, but I need to let her know I have ordered flowers to bring with me and won't need them from her.
  14. I posted this on the DHGate thread, but wanted to put it here, too. I ordered my dress from DHGate in mid-December. I asked in my original order that they make the skirt of the dress fuller with a petticoat or crinoline. I hadn't heard anything from them, and then woke up to a voice mail from them telling me that they had sent the pictures and wanted my ok on the. Turns out they had emailed them on December 27, but I didn't realize I had an "inbox" on DHGate. Here's the picture that I ordered from: Here's the picture of my dress, finished: I'm very pleased with the pictures. I ordered a very simple dress because my shoes and jewelry are very blingy and colorful. It could possibly need some tiny alterations when it arrives, but I'm hoping not and can't wait until it's here! Bottom line, Beautybride exceeded my expectations up to this point. I'll update again once I receive my dress.
  15. I was starting to get nervous about my dress and not receiving any pictures yet, but it turns out they sent them December 27th and I just didn't know the message was waiting in my DHGate inbox! They went to the trouble to call me in the middle of the night last night to tell me the dress was finished and that they had sent my pictures. My dress is exactly what I had hoped it would be. I asked them to make the skirt fuller with a petticoat or crinoline, and they did so without any extra charge. Here's the picture from their website, and what I ordered: Here is the picture from my finished dress: It's a very simple dress since my jewelry and shoes are over-the-top. They are shipping it out right away. It looks like it may need a tiny tuck-pointing on the sides near the bust, but we'll see when I get it and try it on. Very minimal alterations, if at all, I hope. The dress is from Beautybride and I paid $116. So relieved!
