Hey Sarah, I have chosen a Karen Bussen package & this is why I can add the beach bash.. Crystel sounds like we will actually be at the resort at the same time.. My guests are there from December 29th-January 5th with the wedding on January 2nd. Me & my fiancé will be staying an extra week until the 12th! Junomei, as for the save-the-dates .. with a destination wedding I think the sooner you can get the info out, the better! We gave people over a years notice by sending out save-the-date magnets which had our wedding website and the date/resort on it. The wedding website was set up by our travel agents and had all the resort/travel info. I encouraged people to put their deposits down as soon as possible & most people did within 1 month of getting the save-the-dates. I think the sooner you can let people know & give them an estimate of price and stuff, the sooner they can start saving up if they want to attend. Bre

Hey Amanda, I don't think we're going to tell our guests that we will be getting legally married before we leave for Mexico, although my mom knows and my bridesmaids know. They don't think its a big deal but same as with Lauren, my fiancé and I are going to treat the mexico wedding as our 'real' wedding .. and when we get legally married we won't be doing anything fancy .. so Jan 2nd will be what we consider our anniversary. I'm planning on doing the private beach bash & have it booked as of right now. I have wanted it ever since I saw the pictures and read the description. I mentioned it to my mom and her & my aunt really loved the idea. Are you thinking of doing the beach bash or?? Bre

Hi Amanda! I am getting married in January 2014, we booked for Jan 2nd! Our deposit for the date was just put down last week and we've started picking our packages as well. We have chosen to get married in Canada legally first and then just do a vow renewal in Mexico, mostly due to how complicated it would be to have all the documents translated. I believe for the vow renewal there is still many different packages available .. either one of the Karen Bussen packages or the crystal/diamond packages I think. Ya Carlotta I had asked to do that.. So our plan is 7-9:40 ish at La laguna and then we have the full 2 hours for the beach bash! It should work out better that way

Nevermind .. just re-checked the email .. I guess for 40+ guests the only options were 7-11 which is why I booked that. haha

That sounds good too casey! You will be at the restaurant for about 2 and a half hours too then? I didn't know you could start the dinner earlier than 7? I think all the options vanessa emailed me were from 7-11.. maybe I should double check that though! haha

Wow Mikeycelle, you looked beautiful!! Loved the dress .. so glad everything worked out with the dress situation! Also thanks so much for the very detailed wedding info Glad to hear everything went well. I just have a question for any of you girls that have already had your wedding at the grand palladium .. I am trying to get the reception/beach bash info figured out .. the dinner we have booked at La Laguna at 7 PM; it was scheduled to be from 7-11 PM and then if we wanted the beach bash, the latest it can go til is midnight so at first they had said supper 7-11 then beach bash 11-12. Well I thought it was a bit rediculous to ship everyone over to the beach for one hour (if that .. by the time we actually get there) .. so I was thinking of just doing the dinner from 7-10 and then Vanessa said at around 9:40 we could start transporting people to the beach where we would be from 10 til midnight. I just want to make sure that gives us enough time to do everything we need to do at the restaurant such as speeches, first dances, slideshow ( i think our bridal party was wanting to do one if possible) .. and then we can save all the partying for at the beach if we need to but I don't want to be rushed! If anyone has any tips/info that would be great! Thanks, Bre

Hey Kstok, I had received an email from Grace about 2-3 weeks ago saying they have opened up the reservation books for 2014. They just sent me the authorization forms for me to put down the deposit for my date also .. so maybe email them again if you don't hear from them soon?? I know I was getting anxious to hear from them too .. Just wanted my wedding date booked!

Kathy, yes I live about an hour west of Winnipeg! Crazy! when are you looking to book your wedding? I actually went through a travel agency company in Winnipeg, they are a couple who had their own destination wedding and now they specialize in destination weddings for other couples! If you want their information Kathy, let me know. I don't have to pay them anything - the travel companies do that. My mom & I met with them last summer & they got us group rate quotes from all the different airlines, and then they set up a wedding website for us with all the information so that our guests just need to contact them to put their deposits down. It's been really nice so far. Looking forward to hearing all your reviews Mickeycelle! Carlotta, that seems like a good deal for the 7 nights. My guests will be at the grand palladium over new years (since 3 of my bridesmaids are in university and i didn't want to have them missing classes as one will be in her 3rd year of pharmacy) .. so unfortunately the prices are much higher since it's holiday season. I'm in the same boat as you.. planning our wedding for Janaury 2014 and was also told the same thing from Rocio that they aren't taking wedding date reservations for 2014 yet (even though our date is the very beginning of 2014 - jan 3). She did tell me to email her end of March to see if I could secure my date yet so I just emailed her and will see what she said. I also am soo interested in doing the beach bash.. Not sure if they are doing them yet as they're part of the Karen Bussen wedding packages, but I'm really hoping that they're available when I will be there for my wedding! As for the other questions, I'm only in the early planning of stages so can't help you out much with that but I must say that I LOVE this thread and although I haven't been contributing much yet, I do check in here often and read all the posts. I find it so helpful hearing from others who are planning their wedding at the same resort as well as hearing from those who have returned from their weddings at Grand Palladium! Hey Sarah! I also saw the beach party on the Palladium wedding website and thought that would be an awesome idea & when I mentioned it to my mom she thought my aunts & the older relatives would probably prefer that to just going to the disco or to a sitting bar after the supper. I messaged Rocio about it & she said it can be added to any wedding package and she seemed to know what I was talking about. I was also a little concerned because our wedding will be on a Friday and on Friday's they have the beach bonfire so I was wondering if that would make a difference for me - she said that the beach bonfire date depends on whats happening that week and also that they are in different locations from the 'Private Beach Bash' so it wouldnt affect anything!

Does anyone know if we can just rent that light up dance floor and have the cold fireworks without booking a DJ?? I was just planning on having a playlist from my iPod and getting one of my friends to be in control of the music if needed but I'd love the dance floor/cold fireworks

Anyone planning their wedding at the Grand Palladium for end of 2013/start of 2014?? We're leaving December 29th - Jan 5th, with our wedding on Jan 3rd, 2014. Would be awesome to have someone who's planning for around the same time so I can see what they're all working on, etc. I feel like I have no idea what to even 'plan', but I am getting lots of great ideas from reading your girls' posts .

Hi, I'm also having my wedding in 2014 (just barely!) .. January 3, 2014 in the Mayan Riviera at Grand Palladium. Also looking forward to hearing from you girls what you have been planning so far. Lately I've been looking at the forums on here for helpful tips and reminders. The one thing I find stressful is that we have given out our save the dates & given people as much info as we can and recommended if they're wanting to come to book ASAP - we still have many people who are not in a rush to book. The only problem is that we went through a travel agent and they could only guarantee us the quoted price for 3 months and said now that the prices could go up at any time. Anyone else going through something like this? I don't want to keep hassling people to remind them to put their deposits down to save them $$. So far we have 32 booked and another 16 who have said theyre wanting to come but havent put deposits down yet. It makes it hard to try and figure out how much the wedding will cost us since we have to pay $40-60 per person for our dinner.

Hey guys, I am also getting married in January 2014 which still seems soo far away! I get really excited sometimes and want to plan stuff but I dont know what needs to be done yet even, lol. We are going through travel agents who specialize in destination weddings. They have told me they will do all the booking, etc and take care of everyones trip payments which is nice. We can't even 'book' my wedding day and time until may 2013 so until then I dont know what to be doing hah. What are you ladies doing to get an early start on planning? So far we have the resort and date picked, and we are bringing a photographer from out here with us to do the photography out there. Otherwise I have just been looking through ideas on here & finding lots of stuff! Breanna
