Have you emailed MVP? Edgar was speedy at responding and so helpful when I booked my hair and makeup with them. I bet if you requested pics of Asian brides that they have worked with, he could help you.

I'd be interested to know if everyone thinks that is gutsy or not too...It will help me decide if I should put down the deposit down before hearing from Maria. DJ Bijan said he would hold the date for me until Dec 31 without me having to put down a deposit (which is sooo nice). So I have some time to think about it...

DJ Bijan is the only DJ at Mayan Vibes. So far he has been awesome at responding to my emails. I want to book him, but I am just waiting for Maria/Paloma to confirm my request for a pool side reception.

Thanks for the advice! Does the WC care if you choose to go with mostly outside vendors? Do you think it affects the service they give you?

Ok, I guess I should get pushy about them confirming my pool side reception! Hmm...I will have to do a bit more research re: DJ. I have also heard that they don't always charge the outside vendor fee for hair/ makeup. They also don't charge for flowers, as they are just dropping the flowers off. I have booked MVP for hair/makeup. They were awesome at emailing back (usually within minutes!). Communicating what I want won't be an issue, as Melissa is American. I am really excited for to do my hair and makeup! She has great reviews as well.

Our wedding was confirmed in July and my WC (Maria) sent me an email maybe 4 weeks later giving me a choice of restaurants , meal choices and cake flavours. I emailed back within a few days and didn't hear back from her until maybe last month saying she received my email . I took that opportunity to email back with a bunch of questions, I haven't heard back. I don't know the timing of dinner yet... which would also make it tricky to book an outside DJ. I have read good things about DJ Bob, DJ Bijan ( I think I read somewhere that he is from Vancouver BC) and also the resort DJ. Since I have read good things about the resort DJ, I feel like its easier to stick with him. Probably less to plan, as he is used to setting up and working at the resort etc. Although, I guess communication would be easier with an outside vendor, as they tend to email back quicker than anyone that works at the resort! Is booking an outside DJ a lot cheaper? I have booked an outside vendor for hair/ makeup and will be booking an outside florist. I am thinking maybe I should stick with the resort DJ but haven't made up my mind completely.

I am in the same boat! I have my dinner location confirmed, but they have not confirmed my wish for a pool side reception. I am hoping the resort makes sure a pool side reception is available for all weddings that they book, until the bride/ groom say they don't want a pool side reception.... Which DJ are you going with? I was just going to go with the resort DJ...but I don't know if he will be booked up that night!

Hi! Thanks for answering my question. We are staying at the Coba (but getting married at the Akumal side) so we chose the Mediterranno restaurant. On the menu, there is an awesome veggie option (vegetable caponata) that I would be very happy with. So...hopefully we can pick 2 meat options and the vegetarians can have the veggie option!

When you pre- chose your dinner entrees, did you get to pick 2 "meat" choices and was the vegetarian one available for the people that wanted it? I would like to give my guests 2 non veggie options to choose from.... thanks in advance!

Kelly, Thanks for posting! The guys look great. What colour did you choose? Did you order the suits a little bigger (like some people on this thread have), or give exact measurements to Studio Suits? Also, I notice you are from Vancouver- me too! How much was duty? Thanks in advance!

Has anyone contacted these people lately? I emailed them the other day requesting info on pricing, and if they had certain colours available....they got back to me (within minutes) re: pricing. When I asked (again) about colours, I recieved another quick response saying they were out of stock (I asked about 3 colours, he didnt tell me which were out of stock). I emailed back asking when they will be getting more stock...no reply. I used the email on the website. Does anyone have another email for them? or for Daniel? I am frustrated b/c I don't live in NYC but I have a friend that is willing to pick these up for me during the first 2 weeks of Dec. From reading this thread, it seemed so easy...grrrrrrrr. thanks for letting me vent! Any tips would be appreciated!
