  1. Hello Missybee, Yes i did not like the cockroaches. To tell you that the last night our butler prepared a nice bubble bath for us with rose petals but we did not enjoy it since there was a pretty big roach on the tub. My fiance killed it and said he refused to get in because he did see a few right by the tub. Anyway the bana restaurant is huge. This is where they have a section for sushi and habachi. Very nice. we had the habachi and it was amazing. the decor is nice as well. The waiters are also friendly.
  2. Hi EV i am going to try to answer your questions. I apologize for my last post and any mixed feelings that you may have. I was really upset about my last issue with the room and how angry my fiance was. We truly did not want to leave there upset. Even though it is busy season it did not feel crowded during the day. There are different sections on the resort. Royal service with its pools and bars. Regular service with its main pool and the swim up bar. There is also the pool for Melia club members with its pool as well. The only time that we felt there was a crowd was at night in the mail lobby where they have their performances. The first night we watched a show with dominican costumes and dancing. There was also a band playing merengue, bachata and salsa. It was very nice. The second night we watched a jazz show and the third night we watched the Le Cirque which was kind of like cirque de sole. Very nice. I did take lots of pictures of the grounds and will be posting them soon. I am uploading them on to my computer.
  3. Hey ladies, At the airport now... bummer.. Towards the end of our stay we had a bit of trouble again with the room and the staff at the resort. Management will be hearing from us. The bell boy forgot to pick up our bags at 1pm. We were suppose to check out at that time but had to wait. We planned this yesterday and were guaranteed that he would be there. After calling our butler twice my fiancé decided to carry the bags down. There are no elevators so he walked them down. How could they forget???? my fiancé went to the royal service and asked to speak to a manager who was not available. we have her info and will be emailing her when we get back. My problem with the rooms are some cocaroaches running around everyone in a whole. Which really bugs us.... they also forget to make up our room and turn the room down which was a small problem with us... some people who stayed at the Palma real mentioned that the staff was not nice to them but we did not experience that at royal service... my problem is that if royal service is lacking in some areas what about the regular service. I know that my family will be staying in regular service and are spending big money to spend this special time with us. they should feel royal as well.., don't you think???? I was upset about that... I don't want th not to be taken care of... I think the resort is amazing the food is amazing.. the wedding planners are great and we think that thy can hold an amazing service... but the hotel portion( rooms) are lacking and that's what ppl will pay for... my fiancé said that this is what they need to fix to be perfect. we are planning to invite 200 ppl to our wedding and I want to make sure they are happy and satisfied. Sorry ladies but I had to tell you about my experience. we just left and I am a bit upset that they "forget" certain things. overall I am happy with everything else. before we continue we will have to have a talk with them... I did take pictures and am happy with the decor... the hotel was full not as busy as December from what we heard... boarding now will continue when we get back...
  4. Hello ladies, My fiancé and I are enjoying our last day at PPR. The love at first site visit was amazing. We met with Mariela and Rosa from the romance department and they walked us through everything. We had our menu tasting and I have to say that the food is excellent. Last night we watched the show Le Cirque and my fiancé and I were impressed. Overall we are truly considering to have our wedding here and continue the process. We have met with Arrecife, Caribbean celebrations, Aventos the DJ, and received a tour of the resort. We encountered some issues with the room and the service. Other than that the resort is beautiful but the weather have not been great. It rained the past three days. The restaurants that we loved were palazzo (royal service guest only), gabi, Bana, the market grill and Naos. We did not have a chance to try passon, vento, and the mexican restaurant. We will be leaving soon and I am sad to go. I feel that I have more exploring to do. Ana
  5. Hello Ladies, I am truly sorry that you are going through tough times. But remember this is your day. No one has the right to ruin it for you as some of you mentioned before. My problem is inviting more people just because my family wants me to. Why should i do this when we are actually trying to cut down. It's nice to have brides to share this with since we are all going through the stress around the same time. I will be traveling to PPR tomorrow so I hope that it meets my expectations. My fiance and I have been waiting for this moment for months. This will determine weather or not we will continue with the wedding plans at PPR. I'm so nervous!!! I have so many questions i am going nuts...lol... Question: For those brides that have traveled before...how safe are the taxi's at punta cana? I understand that PPR does not provide airport shuttles so we have to figure out how to get there... Thanks a bunch
  6. Hi ladies, Happy new year!!! My fiancé and I have our paradisus love at first site visit next week... I can't wait to see the resort! We have our meeting with the wedding planners and I can't seem to think of anymore questions... We have questions on the linens, centerpieces, menus, reception and ceremony sites, DJ, photographer and drinks... I really don't know if I am forgetting something... Does anyone have any questions that they think I should ask? Also, I am having a hard time because my parents want me to invite people who live in Dr. I know that they can't afford to stay at the resort for 3 nights... I also know that they can attend the wedding but we would have to pay a fee... So far we have over 100 people on our guest list... We do not know how many will be attending but it is stressing me out... I am starting to think that we should elope!!!! Is anyone else having these problems... Take care Angel aka Ana
  7. Indie thanks for sharing the pictures.... Congratulations!!!! I'm so excited!!!
  8. Hi ladies, My fiancé is a bit skeptical about using our ID's and faxing copies of our credit card. We asked the Miami office if there was another alternative and they said we could mail a check payable to Ask Me About.... Now he's skeptical again. He is confused at why we are not mailoing the check to paradisus. But i can understand him. This is all new to us. I just wanted to ask if you have had an experience with this and if you recommend it and if you have any advice about payment. thanks Angel
  9. Thanks ladies! Awesome idea! I am working on my wedding website on theknot.com so that should help as well.. it's getting intense lol
  10. Hi Ladies, I am planning to send my save the dates 6 to 7 months in advance due to scheduling issues. Do you think that is enough time? We have been talking about our destination wedding for almost four months now and have told everyone but do not have a date yet. I am starting to freak out because i dont know if this will give me enough to do it all while going to grad school. What are your thoughts??? Thanks.
  11. Hello Ladies, Congrats to all of the brides!!! Can't wait to see pictures. Reading your feedback makes me feel a lot better... Congrats again!!!
  12. Hi Brides! Happy Planning! Does anyone have a contact email or number for a wedding coordinator at the hard rock? My fiancé and I are planning to go to punta Cana in January and are shopping around for our wedding locations. We want to do a site inspection prior to booking. Do you know if the hard rock offers this? Thank you, Angel
  13. Thank you Micheleann! Now we are going through a little problem. We want to visit in January which is considered high season. We will be staying at Palma real (paying $175 per night for 3 nights) but the fourth night is costing us $310 per person for the night. which makes it 620 not credited to our wedding. What to do??? We are thinking of staying 3 more nights at the hard rock and asking to meet with their wedding coordinators but am not sure. I don't know what to do right now because 620 sounds way too expensive for a night... does anyone know of other hotels in the area???
  14. Hello Brides!!!! Hope you are all doing well and your planning is going well. I wanted to know if anyone has done the love at first site package? I am looking to do this but wanted to know if anyone has had a good experience especially if they actually credit you for your wedding. Thanks ladies.. Good luck to all!
  15. Yes I would also like to know about the salon at PPR. Does anyone have a price list or know what the range of services are? I would like to make sure I give my bridesmaids the details before hand.
  16. I love these are cute! Did you use a website to get the template for the boarding pass invites?
  17. Hello Brides, I had no idea that PPC and PPR were so far apart... Do you think some of my guest can book PPC instead of PPR where the wedding is going to be (hopefully)? Ev I know what you mean about the complainers. We wanted to get married at LE Blanc cancun but are now gong for PPR to accommodate my family. My fiancé really wanted Le blanc bc we had such an amazing time when we went two years ago. Anyway now one of the complainers who I want to choose as the maid of honor, is saying that PPR is way tooooooo expensive. She is also the one who said cancun is out.... We also were thinking of having a wedding in september, October or November but she mentioned that she will not be able to go if it is not during the summer. Everyone else said anytime is ok.... UrGggggg Anyway I also think that the $1000 fee is ridiculous.
  18. Ev, I agree. I have also been to weddings and parties and have had the same experience. the food, entertainment, decor and money $$$$ We have been to weddings and out of all we only like one catering hall in Brooklyn. Looking at it with all of thethings we want its gonna be over 60-70k. Thinking about how much we would spend on a wedding here for four hours is way out of our budget and minds. The experience of having your wedding at another country and making it a vacation is an amazing experience for you and your guests. At first I did not like the idea but now it's more about saving money, having a spectacular wedding/ vacation/ honeymoon and time with the most important people in your lives. Your wedding will be unforgettable for you and your husband and guests... I am so excited. I feel like I dream about the wedding and my dress!!!
  19. Hey Ev , That is awesome I voted for you! What a good experience! I hope you guys win.
  20. Hey ladies, Ev I will check your friends website! Thanks for all of the help. The more I read about PPR the more in love with it I am... I am super excited!!! Lolanroxy, thanks for your review. Your pics look great and I love your dress. Thanks for your help. My fiancé and I are still working on a budget... I Don't know what a budget should be for a destination wedding. I think we will do 25-30k since we are also paying for my parents to attend, purchasing our flights, invitations, gifts for bridal party, the aqua package and add ons (viiolinist, fire show-maybe, etc) I hope we can come up with somethin. This way we can also focus on our reception in the states. Thanks ladies!!!
  21. Hi Ev, Wow plaza colonial looks so beautiful. Will they decorate the area? It actually looks beautiful as is especially if the sun is setting at that time. About the trio.. My fiancé and I are thinking of adding them to our list. I would love to get your feedback after your wedding. I thought it would be nice vibe. You are right the DJ may also have trouble going back and forth. I am living in the NYC area. Does your friend have a website. Are the suits expensive? It is going to be difficult to rent suits for all of the guys especially if we are planning to stay longer than a week. I would like my fiancé to choose something he likes as well that fits perfectly. This could be great for him to wear at the reception when we come back from our wedding. I am planning to get a white/ivory dress for the reception. All of this sounds so exciting. I am happy things are working out for you! Angel
