  1. I wanted that scheme original DH said umm no so we are doing ombré navy, vintage gold and blush/mauve brown tone pinks.... Compromise ! I guess I am lucky he wants to be hands on and involved
  2. Nobody wants to get to 150 with me:-(
  3. Joyce you are so right. Building a strong team is priority #1!!! LCB I will be DIYing because I love to craft but anything that is über time sensitive (like having the invites out by 12/1/12) I am gadding getting a team to manage, my motto is Joy not stress, the way I want it.
  4. I am already married but we are having our first wedding!!! It is something I have wanted to do the last 14 years and for my birthday he "proposed" and I said Yea Mon. So we are about two weeks in to planning and we have booked a venue Moon Dance Villas in Negril Jamaica, date 02/14/14. Wedding planner and travel agent. Our colors Navy, Vintage Gold and Blush Rose and we are working with a graphic designer to help us make a backwards wedding suite, we are forgoing STDs and sending out detailed invitation suites, we need guests to take action and we didn't feel like a STD said book, now, make payment arrangements while they are manageable exc then we will be doing follow up for those who are making moves to attend. Exactly 500 days to go !!!! Good luck ladies
  5. I spoke with my TA about this before I started working with her. I booked her through DW.com and have built a good relationship. She and DW.com offer a price matching guarantee. Policy. Additionally she is arranging transport and logistics to reduce chaos. We are working to have guest grouped together so that we can have continuity and can charter a party buses to get from Kingston to Negril
  6. I am doing things backwards... I very detailed invite a year in advance, then follow ups to time lines and dates, to keep guests on track and stress free. Its not traditional but it made since, I wanted a call to action and for my people it is not real until there is a firm date and an invite save the dates are discarded. (yeah its annoying), but to them if they have to travel details are essential to get things moving, because my grandmother need and requires them and if she doesn't move no one else will. I say set a date asap, because especially when deal ling with the holiday season time off work may need to be put in really soon for next year. good luck

  8. I am new to wedding planning and like so many I feel this is a wonderful resource! But I am not able to access things like attachments yet, I do post but because I am early in the process I have a limit to what I can share so my posts are not accumulating fast enough, because i want to be respectful of other peoples posts and not ask questions that have been responded to I read the whole post and then only respond if I have an unanswered question. So if any one wants to talk plans and get our post numbers up lets talk here :-) Happy Planing !
  9. It's a bit discouraging!!! This timeline would be an awesome resort to have early on bu the time I hit that # I imaging most things may be done
  10. Thanks! This has been such a positive and supportive place in just the short time I have been here. I think I will start a planning thread with the hope that it will help some other bride the way other brides planning threads have helped me.
  11. That could be a really cool think to do for a farewell or welcome dinner or brunch.
  12. So far it seems to be going smoothly, I have the foundations for a great team to make thiNgs work; a great husband, a great venue with a awesome staff, a fab wedding planner and a very experienced Travel agents who literally will be my glue to makIng this not a lagistical nightmare. I have had some other friends use her for their destenation weddings and the arrangements were seamless, efficiently and meticuliculiously planned and that made all the difference! It ment most people being present for the welcome bonfire and grouped onto like flights she even found a way for most of us from different cities to end up on the same flight by the last leg so te party started early. Because this is a Villa wedding I have a lot more to do but it's a good start for two weeks of planning!!!! Speckles your date is coming quite close are you finished with most of the planning ? CaraJoe we are only a few months apart with our dates make sure to keep me updated of your plans:-)
  13. It is not just you it never crossed my mind
  14. thanks for all the info ladies i was wondering this same thing.
  15. I am getting married at the Moon Dance Villas and I have in many ways had the same issues as have other brides. Island time is a different thing and we are not used to such a relaxed approach to something so significant in out lives unless the service is poor. Some brides have shared that in hindsight really the focus was on the immediate brides and they were given overly superior distracted service nearer the wedding, where as here in the states everything is a multi task.... Irie

  19. Irie Ladies - After 14 years of marriage I am finally going to be a BRIDE and a JAMAICA Bride at that.... Moon Dance Villas 02/14/2014. Booked my venue, did a resort by out and Got my wedding planner and travel agent. We meet with the graphic designer on Friday to solidify the details of our theme "BOHO BEACH : Live Laugh (One) Love" and to break down our color scheme from general shades (Navy/DK Blue Vintage Gold Tones and Rustic Pinks)... Ladies this is really happening and I never thought it would. After Marriage, Life, Autism, a micro preemie and walking to hell and back we get to say our vows opposed to signing the court paperwork and simply getting a seal.... Yea Mon!
