  1. ANyone know of a place like this in Los Angeles? I figure there must be somewhere in the fabric mart, but don't know where to start.
  2. I love everything but I particularly love the idea of the postcards for the guestbook. I, too am having a small wedding and thought a guestbook wasn't necessary, but I love the idea of receiving the postcards from the guests later.
  3. Did everyone use their dress as their one carry-on bag? Or did the airlines allow you to bring it in addition to your carry-on? We will be scuba diving the week of our wedding so it is a must that we hand carry our regulators on the plane. We are also flying Thanksgiving week, so I am sure the planes will be full.
  4. I am getting married here Nov 2012. I started a new thread since this one is pretty old but I see people are still viewing it.
  5. Anyone have recommendations on hair and makeup folks on Grand Bahama Island?
  6. I thought I had gotten a great deal on my dress by buying it at Macy's online. What I didn't realize is that alterations would cot as much as the dress. (around $250 each). So remember it is not always the cost of the dress, but if you need to have the TTD altered, it can get expensive, too. I plan on wearing my real dress for the TTD, because that's the name of the game. I also knew before buying I had this intent, so chose not to spend thousands on the dress.
  7. linentablecloths.com does free shipping from time to time (like the last 2 weekends). The free shipping is suppose to be 7-10 business days, but I got mine in 5 to Los Angeles.
  8. Don't forget to take photos of your makeup trial! I recently had makeup done at a cosmetic counter and even though they said the shadows and lipstick shimmer would photograph well, I had my boyfriend shoot sample photos to be sure I likes how it looked. Also, for reference as I might do my own makeup on wedding day
  9. what size fans did everyone order? I have seen 3 different sizes. I was also considering the folding fans so they would be easier for travel. Has anyone ordered these?
  10. I am also using orange as my primary color. Primary meaning all the decorations I bring from home will be orange. I am saying my secondary color is deep red but am leaving yellow as an option as I do not know what color flowers I can get at the resort without paying extra for imported ones. I don't have BM so I do not need to make a huge commitment to color.
  11. looks beautiful. what a great way to bring your colors into the ceremony site
  12. I ordered chair sashes last weekend and table runners this weekend from linentablecloth.com. FREE shipping promos both weekends, so I didn't mind small orders. This weekend they also had 10% off the entire site. I don't know how often they run specials, but if you sign up for their emails, they send out notices. I ordered the pumpkin color which is more a true orange than a deep pumpkin color.
  13. I wouldn't expect gifts from anyone not invited to the actual wedding. There has been a lot of shoo-shooing of etiquette mentioned, but no one would argue eating with your mouth open or other rules of etiquette are just opinions. As far as what can be worn, I have never heard of any hard fast rules on this, but I also haven't spent much time on other blogs. As far as putting registry cards in with the invite, I agree there are other ways to get the word out of where you are registered.
  14. sorry, that should have read what has the response been?
  15. DwBride2be, What ahs the response bee from people? Did you invite the same people to both?
  16. I like the idea of the taco bar. You could do soft and hard shells and even burritos! Mexican side dishes hold well (rice, beans, chips) and I think most people could find something to eat, especially if you offer chicken or fish along with beef options.
  17. My mother brought up the idea of an open house but it seems like more work than a dinner at a local restaurant. Especially when it comes to keep food fresh for hours.
