  1. Ugh...I'm stressing out too! I signed a wedding contract and put 50% down on my wedding package. BUT I decided to not sign the group contract because I don't want to have to control how/when my guests book their trips. I know many of them will book through outside websites such as www.travelocity.com because it's more affordable than booking through the hotel. My sales coordinator from Palace Resorts told me multiple times that if all my guests book through the same website than I can still get the promotions, such as cocktail hours and private dinners. The only promotion that the group contract guarantees is the complimentary nights, which I won't get if I don't sign the group contract. That's ok with me though- I'm really just worried about the dinner and cocktail hour amenities. I was told I had to pay for bride/groom's full stay at the hotel as well, in order to block off rooms. Any help with reception details is welcome! I'm lost on reception too, such as music, upgrades, location, etc...
  2. Ohh I see! I'm not using a travel agent. I'm coming from California. Most of my guests will be staying 6+ days but it's more addordable to book through www.travelocity.com where you get your flight and hotel together, rather than booking through Palace resorts directly. I don't think I'm going to sign the group contract because it will be impossible for me to control how my guests book their trips. Hopefully my sales coordinate honors what she told me, and allows me to get the promotions if everyone books on the same outside website. Thanks for your help!
  3. Hmm, that's odd. They seem kind of disorganized at Palace. Maybe it's because I'm doing the new Colin Cowie wedding package. I know it's kind of new, so maybe it has something to do with that.
  4. I signed the actual wedding contract, but maybe it's because I booked a wedding package and had to pay 50% toward the total cost. If you're doing the complimentary wedding package than you may not have to sign any contract. My wedding planner only reached out once my contract was signed though. She sent me food menu's, asked what kind of cake I wanted, photo services, etc etc... Ahh, I think I may need to do the group contract thing. Are your guests booking straight with the hotel? I know many of my guests are going to book through outside websites. Not sure how this works...
  5. Oh wow really? My sales coordinator from Palace Resorts, Clarissa Arzola Avina, told me directly that I can still get the private functions and cocktail hour if all my guests book through one website (has to be the same website though), I just can't get the complimentary free nights without signing group contract. Thanks for this information though! I'm going to check with her to confirm!
  6. Hey guys, I was just reading over your posts regarding Beach Palace weddings and the photographer fee. I put my deposit down on the Pearl Shimmer package at the Beach Palace for July 12th, 2013. My wedding planner was quick to email me. Her name is Margarita and she seems really great. She told me there is not fee anymore to have an outside vendor (hoorary! No $500.00 fee!)- however you do have to pay your photogs day pass fee of $91.00, but hey that's a lot better than $500.00 The Pearl Shimmer package comes with Photo Package A with Ocean Photo Studio (they're the company who shoots your photos if you go with what the hotel wedding packages offer). I've looked up their website and it looks pretty good. Photo Package A comes with pics of the ceremony and a small session post ceremony on the beach, of you and your new hubby/wife. You can also upgrade this package to include whatever you want, for additional fees. I have questions RE: group contract and receptions. I think I'm going to pay $300.00 per table for the reception once I know how many guests I have. I'm expecting 30+. How does the music work for the reception? I'm thinking of renting a dance floor, but don't think a DJ is necessary. I just want a mircrophone and speakers, so we can play our own music. I hope this won't cost me too much! Also, I decided to not sign the group contract because I know it's more affordable for my guests to book through websites such as travelocity rather than through the hotel directly. I was told if my guests all book through the same website, I can still get the free private functions and cocktail hours depending on how many nights are booked. I know Beach Palace is a bit smaller than some of the other hotels, so I'm a little worried that by not signing up with a group contract I don't have any rooms blocked off. Does the hotel fill up quickly? Should I go ahead and book my trip through the hotel instead so I can block off rooms? Please help! Mucho gracias, Nicole
  7. Hello Samuel, Yes, 11 months should be plenty of time! Thank you!! Very excited! - Nicole
  8. Hey guys! My name is Nicole. My wedding date is confirmed for July 2013 at Beach Palace. I received a email confirmation confirming my wedding date and saying that someone would be contacting me within 30 days to begin the planning process. Well...no one has contacted me yet I've sent multiple emails, to no avail. I have so many questions. I plan on getting the Pearl Shimmer wedding package and upgrading the photography package, dance floor, and reception tables. I'm a little worried about using the hotel photographer. Not sure what to expect. If anyone has any advice please let me know! Looking forward to hearing from you guys, Nicole
  9. Hey guys! My wedding is confirmed for July 12th, 2012 at the Beach Palace in Cancun. I joined this blog in hopes that I can get some of my questions answered and share thoughts and ideas with other future brides of Beach Palace. I know the Colin Cowie wedding packages are new, but if anyone has any experience with them for summer 2012 please share your experience! I was told someone would be contacting me within 30 days of receiving the wedding date confirmation via email, but no one has contacted me yet I'll be calling Monday to sort this out, but I'm already a little dissappointed no one has called. I have booked the Pearl Shimmer package for 4:00 p.m. I think I was do to the ceremony on the beach and the reception on the sky terrace. I am worried about the photography. Are the photographers they provide with the wedding package and "special moments" photography any good? Also, if you have over 30 guests how much per extra guest is it? I'm a nervous wreck and my wedding is 11 months away lol. Please share any advice anyone has! Thanks, Nicole
