OMG, I am sooo excited for you! I'm about 3 months away from mine and feeling so overwhelmed. I feel like there's still soo much to do. And still people that need to book :/ Did you have a lot of last minute bookers? 60 guests is awesome, big wedding for a destination wedding! How much was all your decor? I'm having under table lights, candles in pool, and pretty table decor/center pieces. It's running me about $1,200.00. I was thinking of adding lanterns too. I'm doing the same music wise, for the reception (IPOD dock + 2 speakers and someone running the IPOD). So no DJ? I don't think I'll do a DJ either. I am doing an IPOD and 1 speaker for cocktail party. What's a jambox? I'm carrying my dress on the plane. I heard it isn't too bad. I'm with United Airlines, hopefully they have a closet or something I can hang it in. I can't wait to hear your review and see all your pictures! Good luck!!

Is anyone hiring a mariachi band for their cocktail hour? I thought it would be nice to have the band for the cocktail hour since the reception will be IPOD music, to switch it up a bit. Margarita quoted me $740.00 for 45 minutes of mariachi band though. Ugh...expenses are adding up. It would be much cheaper to just do the IPOD setup. Hmmm....

My fiance is going for his tux fitting today! I know it's more about preference...but are you guys coordinating the mens' vests and ties with your bridesmaid dress colors? Or are the men just doing black and white? Or champagne colored vests, etc?? I'm feeling a little lost on this one. I don't want it to look too "prom" or cheesy with color coordination. Let me know what you guys think :-) - Nicole

Hey guys! Anyone having problems gearing back from Zuniga via email? I was emailing back and forth with Lily from Zuniga a couple months ago. I answered a survey and she gace me a quote for all the reception decor. I emailed her recently to check in on everything and make sure there is nothing elae she needs from me, and no one has responded :-( just wondering if anyone else has been having this problem? Anyone have an email for Zuniga besides Lily's email? Thx!

The cost you see for the package is ONLY for the ceremony, not the reception. The reception will cost you $50.00 per person (for dinner buffet), plus any reception table decor, lighting, music, etc...The reception is completely separate, unless you choose to use the the dinner that the ceremony package comes with. All that is is a private dinner for 30 people in one of their restaurants, but you can't do music, dancing, or any of that, so it's not really a "reception". One perk is they do offer a free reception/private function post ceremony if you get up to 75 room nights booked. If you're expecting 40-50 guests, you should have NO problem getting your 2 hour private function + a cocktail hour free. I do not know how much per person over 30 people it cost though. I would say between $30 and $50 per person for anyone over the 30 person limit. Search around on this site and I'm sure you'll find all the answers to your questions! :-) - Nicole

Oh no! I'm so sorry Jenni. I would definitely complain, especially since you confirmed location multiple times! & you've already reached 75 room nights, so it's not like you only have a few guests! You're having a full blown wedding and you're making that resort a ton of money. They should be bending over backwards for you. I reserved the sky terrace for the ceremony with Margarita as well, months ago. But this def makes me wonder! I hope everything works out!

Hi Jenni, Norma charges $100 for the brides makeup and $50.00 per bridesmaid. Someone posted her email above. I am interested in doing the cocktail hour after ceremony + a 3 hour reception. But I was also told there is a 3 hour per day limit. Let me know what your planner tell you on that :-) My email is [email protected]. I'd really appreciate it if you could email me the private function location pictures you have. I was wanting to do the reception on the sky terrace with pool and bar. Good luck with everything! - Nicole

Hi Stacie, - I have been working with Margarita as well. She is your wedding planner (not coordinator). You will tell her what cocktail hour menu, buffet dinner menu, and honeymoon breakfast menu you want. She will also give you all the info for music, DJ, pictures, etc...information. Then you contact the vendor directly to set that up. She also handles your guest booking confirmations...so she should know how many room nights you are at. She is great...quick to respond! - My wedding is at 6 p.m. too. I think 3:30 p.m. should give ample time for makeup and hair. I would give about an hour for each and maybe a little additional time for pictures beforehand. Norma from MAC seems great, however I decided to go with a makeup artist in Cancun named Tania Tagle. Email: [email protected] Facebook: www.facebook.com/taniataglemakeupandhair. She does airbrush makeup and I liked her work more than Norma's. Take a look at her pictures and let me know what you think! Airbrush makeup is a little more expensive though, but it may be worth it. - OOT bags are out of town or "welcome" bags. You bring them with you to Cancun, and the hotel staff will put them in all of your guests rooms upon their arrival. As an out of town bag you could have sun tan lotion, flip flops...etc..things like that. OR like one of my friends did at her destination wedding you could have cute little beach themed picture frames, chapstick, candles, etc...with you and your soon-to-be's names or initials on them. You could also have a wedding program type thing in this bag letting people know what time the ceremony is at, which location in the hotel, time of cocktail hour, reception, locations...etc... Hope that helps! - Nicole

Hey guys, Another quick question- I know if you receive the free private function you don't have to pay the additional per person fees for the buffet dinner. However, I was re-reading my emails from Carissa and I think you have to pay $30.00 per person for the rooftop pool reception area (even if you receive the private function!) Any past BP brides- can you clarify? What are the additional fees for using the rooftop pool area for your reception, even if you've reached 75 room nights? - Nicole

Congratulations!! I hope my guests book last minute too, although it will probably be more expensive for them if they do that. I'm thinking a lot of people will book toward the end of February and throughout March. I'm trying to stay positive! As far as the unlimited private functions...you can have max of 3 hours per day, every day you're there. So you could have a rehersal dinner the night before. Then a one hour cocktail hour and a 2 hour reception the day of your wedding. Or if you prefer, you could do a 3 hour reception the day of, and do your cocktail hour another day. I've had the same problem with my coordinator. They beat around the bush, and don't answer my questions directly. I'm thinking it's a language barrier, and I'm sure everything will be resolved when you meet with someone in person upon your arrival.

Beach Palace Wedding- Colin Cowie Package 2013
Nicolew412 replied to Nicolew412's topic in Newbies!!
For any past Beach Palace brides- just curious, how close to your wedding date did most of your guests book their trips? I am about 5 months away and we're only at 33 room nights, around 10 people I know there are a few more guaranteed booking, but I'm just nervous. I invited 70 people, and only a couple have sent back the RSVP cards saying they can't go. So there are still so many up in the air. I hope people make it! Also, I was wondering for any past beach palace brides that didn't have a huge wedding party- how was the private dinner reservation after the ceremony? If we don't have at least 30 people, we aren't going to have a big reception. Instead, we're going to utilize the dinner reservation for 30 people that the wedding package comes with. But I still want to have first dance, cake cutting, etc...I wonder how "private" the dinner reservation really is? Like is it private enough to have a ipod dock setup for background music? Any help would be great! Thanks, Nicole -
