  2. Well, that is interesting about the percentage of guests at the wedding staying at a resort vs. daypass prices. Thanks for everyone's input about the webinar. Glad I didn't miss much! You girls are the best!

  4. I'm not familliar with Now Sapphire's wedding package, but that was my deciding factor. I really think you get alot of things with the ERC package. Maybe you can compare the offerings and that may help. I'm opting for the Gold Package because I will have 40-50 people attending. I've never been to Excellence, but it's ok with me because the photos and reviews are outstanding. The Excellence wedding coordinator, Gloria, has been more than helpful! I hope this helps! Mandy
  5. I believe people have room to dance. I only mentioned choosing Barcelona for dancing because people wouldn't be as sweaty and may be more likely to dance in AC. I think the foyer is plenty large for dancing etc. It looks amazing and I hear it overlooks the water!
  6. Congrats! I'm having mine in Barcelona as well. I asked Gloria her honest opinion and she said it is very hot and humid in July and people would be more comfortable in Barcelona. I guess it may matter if you're having a DJ etc. If not people may not mind sitting in the foyer because they won't be dancing etc. I second KayLynn, the foyer is much more beautiful and it does bother me that Barcelona is where people have buffet but I made the decision for people to dance vs the beauty. I wish I could have both though!!!
  7. Ooh! I'm definately interested in the makeup sealant. I'll have to look into that. Also, a friend of mine who got married in Jamaica said she bought humidity resistant hairspray and it seemed to help a bit. I'm sure it won't be perfect though.
  8. Stacey, We'll be arriving Tuesday 7/23 and staying until 8/1, so we'll be there when you are there!!! My wedding is at 5pm as well! They asked me when I scheduled my appt what time I would need to be ready and my length of hair...and I said 4 and long. They scheduled me for 12:30, I think, and my friend's appts for 1:30. They do so many of these I figured they know how to schedule them, so I'm not sweating it! I sent Gloria most of my choices a few weeks ago... Wedding on the beach Cocktail on the pier Reception at Barcelona There are going to be about 50-60 of us. It's a pretty big party, so we chose the Gold Package. I also sent her my menu choices and some decoration flower choices. So excited!! Where are you having your ceremony etc? Mandy
  9. Hey Stacey8017! First off, congrats!! I'm getting married July 27, 2013. I asked Gloria about booking hair and makeup but she gave me their (the spa's) email address. It's the same one on the excellence website under the spa, but I don't have it here right now. If you tell them what time your wedding is and the date, they will tell you what time your appointment will be. They will also ask your and your bridesmaids hair length to determine the time and price. Hope this helps!! Mandy

  11. Hey Kaylynn! I've already booked my spa appointments for myself and my three friends. They will ask you for hair lengths and book your appt's acccordingly, and give you pricing! I had to remind them that mine was included but it was nice to know what everyone's price is ahead of time. Mandy
  12. Hi KayLynn! I'm getting married July 27 at ERC. Gloria is great to work with. She usually takes a day or two to get back to you. The girls on these boards are great! I've learned so much. If you need anything don't hesitate to ask! Alot of us have docs Gloria sent us regarding flower, food and cake choices. I love not having to plan very much...shocking since I'm usually a control freak when it comes to stuff like that. Congrats!! Mandy
  13. I'm following all of this as well, so keep posting!! I'm having Welcome Cocktails at the X-Lounge July 25 the Thursday before the wedding, July 27 the ceremony on the beach, cocktails on the pier and reception at Barcelona. Welcome Cocktails are something the resort gave to us for the amount of people we have comig to the resort. If you have a Travel Agent, you may want to ask them if they can negotiate that for you. It is an hour and includes canapes and can be held in a few locations. I'm using the hotel photographer. their photos aren't my favorite but they are in our budget range since we are using DJ Mannia as well. I have about 55 people coming so I need to cut corners as much as possible! I love hearing others plans and reading about past weddings on here. Thanks girls!
  14. Thank you so much for posting these pics and your insight! My wedding is Sat, July 27, 2013. I was given the options of Barcelona, the Foyer or Garabaldi Square. Although I really like the look of the foyer, I chose Barcelona because it has a/c. I hope I made the right decisions. Feel free tp post any other pics, I'd LOVE to see them! Congrats! Mandy

  17. Hey Stella! I contacted DJ Mannia after Gloria booked him for me and he gave me a sheet to fill out with questions about what songs we wanted and the average age of everyone there. From what I've read they will take requests all night and you can provide them with any music you want played and a style you would NOT want played. According to them, they have an MC and DJ, lights, balloons for the event.

  19. Hey Trisha! I got alot of info from Gloria at the resort but didn't get a list of addon prices. I told her we wanted the DJ and she let me know DJ Mannia was $1500, which is a little pricy but I'm willing to pay for a good DJ (from what I've heard!) I saw the photos online in their wedding section. You're right, some are cheezy but I do have someone with a photography background coming along and taking pics too so I think it will probably be ok.   20. I'm planning for my wedding on July 27, 2013, with about 50 people and I am wondering about the photographer as well! I am using extra funds in my budget for hiring DJ Mannia, as all of the reviews I have read sound great. I was just going to get the package the resort offered for photographs and have my friend take the rest since he has a photography background. I was wondering about the resort photographers though. I really don't have another 2-5k in my budget!

  23. Photography is so important because it tells the tale of your special day. I cannot wait to let go and have fun with all of my loved ones and have it captured in photograph!
