  1. No prob! Yes, they allowed us to try two choices for each course which we chose in advance. Honestly, when I was there I was so early in the planning process (it was last November) that it didn't even occur to me, and I was very unprepared. They described which cakes I could choose from, and I showed them pictures I had that I liked (that they said they could recreate), but I never thought to ask about tasting. In the dinner we are serving, they include a dessert, so rather than serving the cake, we are just going to have it boxed and send it back with people to their rooms for a late night snack.
  2. I was not able to do a cake tasting. I did taste all of the options for a plated dinner, though.
  3. I hear you. The issue is that we are having 120 guests, and I don't know how else to figure this out. I figure most people will be dancing the whole time and only sitting to eat. Just can't figure out a way around this! Driving me nuts
  4. Hi everyone! This is going to the ladies who are having their wedding at the Gabi Club... I had an idea and wondered if anyone was thinking the same thing, or could give me an opinion on this: I was concerned about the dance floor being in the sand, so you would have to depart the dining room, walk across one of the decks and down to the sand. Just thought logistically, this was a little awkward. Anyway, my idea was to have the tables (instead of in the dining room with the disco balls) on the decks on either side of the dining room, half the people on one side, half on the other, and make the dining room the dance floor (since the bar is in there) and have the sweetheart table in there. That was people could see in from their seats for the first dance, etc. Let me know if you are doing this or if you have any thoughts on this! Thanks!!!
  5. Oh sorry! You may not be this far in the process! Once you have scheduled your wedding there, you are assigned a "Romance Coordinator" who is located in their Miami office (so you are dealing with someone in this country) who will answer all of your questions. Prior to that, you speak with Marilyn. If you need her contact info, just pm me
  6. Thank you! I did go there to do a site visit, but didn't get to stay there. Can you order alcohol to be brought to your room without paying extra?
  7. if you talk to the girls in Miami, they will tell you how much it is for each individual person beyond the 10 included.
  8. Hi Ladies, I have a quick question for those of you that have stayed in the resort for your site visit. Does the minibar in the rooms have alcohol? Also wondering whether you stayed in a Royal Service room with your response, as I'm wondering if there is a difference in whether there would be alcohol. Maybe a dumb question, but I've never stayed here! Thanks!
  9. Thank you!! Paradisus and Playacar were our two choices! Have you been there yet? It's such a great location, and right on that beach is where we had our engagement pics done! The flowers sound beautiful. Our wedding is December 7th at Paradisus, so we don't have the same flower availability, unfortunately. The guys are doing tan suits with a striped tie (will be a few different pastel colors, including peach). Our flowers are going to be roses and ranunculus. Mine will be all cream colored. The girls will be peach and cream. My fiance will be a rose, the boys will be peach ranunculus. Hoping it comes off as close to a peony as possible (not as full, but a similar look!)!
  10. hmmmm I did not have that experience. I spoke with Marilyn at first and was then passed off to Jessica. They have been easy to work with for me. I think the system may feel confusing (it did for me) because they don't really begin planning with you until 4 months prior, so you are kinda on your own. Basically, I have spent the time doing everything except the details of the ceremony, etc. which I think I will pick up with Jessica when we do our planning call. They told me that as long as I had the dates and locations booked, I was good for now. The girls at the resort are fabulous and very helpful as well. I hope this helps you!
  11. Did you have your planning call with Jessica yet? I think that is the next step. You have a form to fill in with a lot of details, and that prepares you for the call.
  12. I just looked on tripadvisor, and I noticed a pic someone took of M Bar. In the picture is Belvedere and Grey Goose vodkas, so I think the top shelf is premium. I am unsure if you need to be Royal Service to have those. You may want to email the girls in Miami on this. Hope this helps a little =)
  13. I am doing fans! =) Didn't really think about the usefulness, just thought it was a cute touch.
  14. They told me they will accept packages 2 days in advance of the wedding. I found that to not be a great option since its cutting it so close, and who knows if something got caught up in customs. I am just making my entire family each bring an additional bag =)
  15. Thank you so much! I actually bought dresses this weekend! Here they are: http://www.donna-morgan.com/lauren/lauren-flat-silk-chiffon/invt/d0869mxephz/?source=253_75&gclid=CMrS-Pu047UCFQ_znAodKGcA6A I love yours too! When is your wedding? Would love to see how you are incorporating the colors! =)
  16. I was intending on having an acoustic guitarist play for the ceremony. Haven't even gotten that far yet, though! Utilizing the DJ seems like a good idea! I was going to have live music for my cocktail hour and DJ for reception only, but I decided to have him play for cocktail hour too in order to save some money.
  17. Thanks you too! If you look earlier on this thread, I believe I posted a link to photos I took of the resort. Check it out...maybe it will help you visualize! =) Of course I didn't take pics of the Gabi Club dining area...I was too busy looking ha! I do have to say though, being there really helped me to understand the flow and I think everything will come together after your visit!
  18. I am using Juan from Del Sol and he is great! I did my engagement shoot with him and I really enjoyed it! I was feeling the same way...just focus on design ideas you like and gather lots of pictures. That way, when you have your planning calls, you will be prepared. I am just focusing now on our rings, registering, invitations and bridesmaid dresses because they are the only things I can do now
  19. Congrats! You will be getting married 2 weeks before me! I did the Taylor Made package (we are expecting 100 guests), Gabi bridge ceremony, Gabi Club cocktail/reception. I didn't compare it to other packages, because I just assumed that it would be a lot more to do a la carte. Though not 100% sure. I did my site visit, but was totally unprepared. It was so far out that I didn't feel any pressure. I am going to try to go again before the wedding. They did guide me through most of the information. I would just take your time looking at all of the locations, and definitely take lots of pictures. Make sure you see the bridal suite! Good luck!
