I just saw a living social or groupon for a bound book with your pics in it. We were thinking about doing this with our engagement pics and then having the guests sign it in Mexico. Ohhhh I do love this post card idea!

Sheeesh! Kinda makes you feel like just eloping! Sometimes I fantasize how much easier and less stressful that would be. Ahhhh yes. Anyways, who ever "threw away your invite" is totally disrespectful. Like really? Were you raised in a barn? Like seriously are you related to Honey Boo Boos family? I would tell those who haven't RSVP'd and you know that's coming that YOU now get to chose what they'll be eating and you'll make sure to tell the resort that they get NO booze at the ceremony. You gotta make them suffer a bit....maybe even threaten them with no wedding cake If I were you I'd get up right NOW, go pour your self some wine/beer, and watch a girly movie! Maybe even a little chocolate!

OOT bag welcome letter
melnryluvco replied to RRsmile's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
I totally agree. Although, I'm trying to strike a balance between having the guests feel involved and giving them the freedom to be beach bums. I don't want them to feel like we're always going with no stop and to your point I don't want them to feel like their wandering aimlessly or feel left out. So I need to carefully put this all together. If you have any suggestions I'd love to hear! -

Gosh talk about PANIC MODE!! I wish I were independently wealthy and could spend my days planning a fab wedding with no concern to cost and time. But alas I am one broke hoe! We have our rings picked out but it's a matter or purchasing them. I've purchased small things here and there for OOT bags but sill need quite a bit. Invites are out with a due date of 03/01. The trickle in little by little. Also, I'm not crafty either so thank god for Pinterest. I've pulled a few ideas together to come up with some table decor. I'm pretty sure between OOT stuff and table decor we'll be packed to the brim. And if you think that your FI groomsmen is a little behind we won't know if TWO of my FI's groomsmen will be coming until mid/late April...we get married end of May. That's what I'm freaked out about the most. I'll have 4 BM and my Man of Honor and he'll have one maybe two groomsmen there. Ay caramba!!! We're taking everything down in spare suit cases and then just stacking one suit case inside of the other on the the way back. Are you ladies attempting to workout/tighten/tone before the big day? That's another thing I'll have to add to this long list of stress. Well I feel better knowing that all you ladies are pretty much in the same boat!! Here's to power planning over the next 100 or so days

Mylene you are a godsend! I seriously just creeped through your pics from you wedding. Thank you so much for all your input and the pics. You had your reception on the beach terrace correct? That's what we're doing our's along with the long rectangular table. How many people did you have at your wedding? We have about 25 and I was wondering if the table felt cramped? One more question...did you do OOT bags? If so what worked and what didn't? Sorry for the million questions. Again, you have restored my faith and calmed my nerves. CONGRATS by the way!!!

I just had them send me stuff. You know they actually aren't too bad!! In fact they are even pretty good. I asked if we couldl send them my thoughts on certain shots and they say "totally". We don't have a bunch of money to be just throwing into DJ's and photographers so I'm learning to be happy with what I have. If you are interested in seeing the links they sent me PM your email and I'll send them your way.

One of my gf's ran into this same issues last year. They did a small wedding in Vegas. The thing is despite people "not being invited" or "invited" they still want to show you how happy they are for you and express that happiness in whatever form makes sense to them. Your family and friends get that you are keeping it small and they get that not everyone was invited to MX and honestly if you did invite them all a lot of people might find it hard to pay for it but still want to be part of your special day. Even though you don't "feel" like it is proper etiquette to have a shower you may be denying certain friends and family the right to express their happiness for you. If you really really feel bad about taking gifts you can always ask people to make donations in your name to your favorite charity...PS. it's also a big tax write off if you choose to do it this way. Best of luck!

Yesss! I've also seen pics with bridesmaids in different shades of a color and it look exquisite.

I don't know what state you're in but here in CO for example we can apply for the marriage lic any time and take it anywhere sign it and turn it in and we're married. We just have to have witnesses sign it on the date we "wed". So we're taking our lic to MX with us and signing the actual lic on our wedding day.

Does anyone have templates or notes that they included with their hangover and emergency kits that they'd be willing to share? -
Did you see that there is a Goupon for the lighted Chinese laterns as well?? $50 worth of laterns for $25. http://www.groupon.com/deals/big-fireworks-4?p=4&utm_source=channel_occasions_VD1-deals&utm_medium=email&sid=a36be0f3-6b05-4aac-912e-79ac4d0d40ea&division=denver&user=5ae8581f19b70c54800005ed72207544b18baa91d8748dc245b3d7628f9fc0d2&date=20130124&s=body&c=button&d=groupon_occasions_deal

We're doing an AHR and to make up for the cost we're not going all out for our reception in Mexico. I would check to see if you can host a cocktail reception in your hometown. We're doing it at Gordon Biersch here in CO becuase they will allow us to have their private room for $25 and we can give them our budget and they'll work with it. We didn't need anything fancy since we're doing the whole "wedding" thing in Mexico. The AHR is really for the elderly relatives that don't travel well. BTW don't mention "wedding reception" to any places that your looking at home cuz they tag on extra $$$ at the word wedding. I made that mistake a few times and then just startin g using the words "gathering" or "party".

Hi Zeman321, Congrats to your daughter on her engagement. This website is chalk full of amazing and wonderful tips, insight, and advice. Personally we chose the NOW resorts because they allow up to 25 guests with their packages vs their sister properties (ie Dreams, Secrets, etc) which only allow 20. Anyways, you could probably save a lot of postage if you did like a Mexican themed get together before you all leave and hand them out. Then you could also give everyone the time table in Mexico of any activities, important contact info, and wedding day time line. Anyways, I'm thrilled for you and your daughter and the fun planning you have ahead. Congrats!! Best, Melissa

OMG those look so amazing!!! Good job!

Hi Mya, There is def a way to go WAAAAY overboard for your wedding by hiring outside vendors and adding on the "linens" and "special chairs". We're trying to keep it simple cuz we'd still like to have $$$ to do an AHR when we get back. Below I've attached a pic of their "basic" set up is like. I wanted to have one long tabel for our guests but as you can see it is suuuper basic. I will be bringing down our table decor. See page 78/79 for pics of my general idea of what I want to do. Anyways, we going with what the package includes. I am not a fan of paying $350 for each outside vendor and I'm certainly not paying the resort to rent linens and $180 for additional floral centerpieces. We went with the Eternity package because having musicians at the ceremony won't make or break the special moment. They have a sound system there and I'd rather walk down to the version of songs I like/chose. There's also other things you can do to keep the costs down if your party gets over 25 guests. For example you can ask them to keep the wedding cake to the package size of 25 people and give people a choice of wedding cake or the dessert that also comes with the package. That way you don't have to pay $7pp for cake when you package also comes with dessert. If you would like me to send you the pricing sheet I would be more than happy please PM your email if so. Happy Planning! Best, Melissa

Hey girls, Just thought you all might find this thread helpful. It's from previous brides of what they put in their OOT bags and what the guests liked and what they didn't. A great help so we don't go overboard and buy crap they won't even use! Anyways, hope you find it helpful as I did! Can any previous brides that gave "Bubba" cups and stayed at an AI resort let me know how useful the "Bubbas" were for their guests? I don't want to haul those things all the way down there just to find out that our AI won't let our guests use them or that the guests don't find them useful. Let me know. Thanks to all the other past brides for their tib bits o' help

I was mistaken when I said $350...I was looking at something else all together on the budget sheet. I have another bride in my area and we're both on the same train of thought in bringing down the Bose so she's going to let me know how her ceremony goes. Your reception was beautiful! I loooove the colors. Thanks for sharing.
