Depending on the time in Aug that can be hurricane season. I would invest in some hurricane/travel insurance and a good makeup artist because it's probably hotter than heck! Good luck!

It's always a gambel when you get married on a beach. For godsakes it could be June and you could have "tropical depressions" so there is no telling. I would invest in travlers insurance and plan for the best! Congrats on deciding on beautiful Riviera Maya. We're getting married May 31, 2013 at the Now Sapphire and couldn't be more excited. Happy Planning!

Hi deedrz, First of all congrats on your engagement and secondly congrats on deciding on Cabo. I am not getting married in Cabo but I am getting married in Riviera Maya. As far as Mexico marriage requirements go they do have a 4 day in country residency policy AND a required blood test. The FI and I were NOT too keen on having our blood drawn in a foreign country. Instead we have opted to get our marriage lic state side and take care of all the legalities here than deal with international legalities. So while we may have a marriage lic dated whatever date our real wedding and anniv date will be celebrate May 31, 2013. As far as the divorce decree goes that's another reason we're getting "married" legally here and doing a symbolic in Mexico. My FI was married years ago and if you are wanting a Catholic ceremony you seriously need written letters of rec from your Archbishop and what not. Too much for me! We're both Catholic by name but not by choice and we weren't going to jump through their hoops to prove we're good enough or competent enough to get married. But that's neither here nor there. As far as places to get married we're getting married at Now Sapphire which it part of the Dreams/AMResorts properties. If it's just you and your FI and no kiddos you may also want to consider a Secrets Resort. It's an adults only resort. No screaming children and families clogging up the beaches and pools. Just something to consider. We went with Now instead of the Secrets because they offered more guests/people included in their packages (ie 25 vs 20) but since it's just you two I say go for it. Get something super nice and spoil yourselves. BTW the AMResorts offer a Complimentary wedding package if you book a certain category of room for a min of 7 nights or something like that. Anyways, hope this was a bit helpful and happy planning! Best, Melissa

You know if it's honestly that expensive I would save your $$$ and buy things local. I've heard of a few brides that didn't want to go overboard and are going to put in a more local flavor into their bags. Another bride, I think she was a Jamaician bride, was going to put in some rum cake and some local beers. You could always research local treats and drink of choice and give your guests: a local treat, drink of choice, and a post cards. Small but thoughtful! I mean honestly if someone didn't bring Advil you know that someone in your party did. If your heart is set on individual packets of advil and pepto and what not I got mine off Amazon. I know Amazon has a .ca for you Canada folks. I think I spent $25(USD) on both advil and pepto packets. Hope this helps and good luck! Hi Kara, So I got my dress from Nordstroms online. There is a Nordstrom Wedding Suite not too far from me that I'll have all the alterations done at. What I love love love about Nordstroms is their return policy. So far I have purchased 3 gowns off their website and have returned the 2 I didn't like. As long as it's not altered and you still have the tags they will take it back no questions asked. I got my dress for $250 which is unheard of. All the reviews from this gown said it's easy to travel with and doesn't wrinkle. I've tried it on and I LOVE it!! It does run a lil long so I'll have to get it altered. Another thing about Nordstorm is they'll let you chose a $$ amount to go up to and it's free shipping over $75. I don't know if you have got your dress yet or if you are still looking but if you are still looking I'd look into Nordstrom's Wedding Gown selections. If you do have your dress and are feeling guilty what is the return policy like. A dress doesn't have to cost an arm and a leg for it to be considered a wedding gown. As long as you feel comfortable in it and are comfortable with the price then I say it's the right gown. If your dress is big and the price is right and you feel good in it then I say rock that gown! Good of luck! Haha we chose a lot of the same things! I think we're going to go with another app instead of the soup though. We don't get married till the very end of the month so I can only imagine how hot it'll be. Soup and hot weather don't sound like fun...especially soup and a white dress. That sounds like a disaster waiting to happen for me! We decided to chicken and salmon becuase I couldn't find a good description of Beef Duo and I didn't want to gamble on it. But good to know it was delish!

Thanks so much for your input!! I asked our TA about transferring resorts and she said we could only really go to the other Now without having to make a whole new reservation. But it was going to cost like $500 more and we wouldn't be in the same room category so it's just not worth it. We did a honeymoon registry and we're planning on going to Europe for our 1yr anniversary so I guess we'll just get our honeymoon time in then.

The chair set up is the same for the eternity package. That's the package we have. Since you have so many guests you may be able to qualify for the buffet option instead of plated. That may save you some $$$. We didn't send out STD because the guests that are going to Mexico already knew so from the moment we were engaged. We knew we wanted a DW so we made sure people knew well in advanced. We just sent out invites and on our invites and RSVP we put our wedding websites.

I think that goes without say but you never know. My FI would probably be the same way about me sharing the pricing sheet. But it is a "pricing sheet/quote" so I would hope that BDW brides on here that you and I both have shared the pricing sheet with would know the definition of a "quote". I think you should be good! I honestly don't think any of the ladies on here would throw each other under the bus. And if they do we'll hang 'em up by their toes

Apple works directly with the airline carriers and one of them is Fronteir which is based out of Denver so they are able to get even better prices. My FI and I and his family leave on a Mon and my fam and our friends comes out Tue. Kinda glad we are getting there a day ahead to get everything in order.
-
Hi meganator22, Our guests had to put down a deposit of $250 per couple to 'lock' their price in and then their full amount is due 6 weeks before take off. We had this option through our TA/Apple Vacations. We are also flying out of a major city with a chartered flight so that had a lot to do with it. That's also how we're getting a 'kick back'/free room. I'd see what your TA can do for you all. Best, Melissa

Great find! Thanks!!!

Holy Moly! That lighting changes EVERYTHING!! That's so awesome. Wheeew!

OH MYYYY GOD!! I literally lol'd...the FI is staring at me like I'm a crazy lady. "The Duo of Beef is a A Duo of Beef" Hot Damn that is hilarious! Sorry I know it's probably not as funny and more frustrating but you have to laugh at this kinda stuff or it'll make you cry or pull your hair out or drink excessively. So to my understanding they need a seating plan so they know what dinner goes where and to whom. You may be able to get away with this by saying "There's 4 Chicken and 6 Beef at Table 3" and then have the guests with corresponding colored name cards (ie Coral = Chicken Aqua = Beef). We only have 25 going and we're doing one long table so I kinda had to do a seating chart. Honestly, I'm ready to just say throw the food down and we'll take care of it family style. Way less stress then worrying about who sits where and who's going to be offended if they're not seating in a certain place. Anyways, let me know what they have to say.

Hi Hayley, We invested in getting a portable Bose sound system. This lil thing ROCKS. One of the other girls on here did the same thing. It was $299 at Target plus we got the Geek Squad protection plan for $50. It covers EVERYTHING except lost/stolen equipment. You should go test one out at Target. It's about the size of a medium Bible. It's sleek, black, and works on Bluetooth. We're just planning on having background/first dance music and I know it'll be perfect. It gets really loud and it is crystal clear....natually, I mean it is a Bose. With a party as small as yours or ours (ie 25) we can even just put it on the table if we have to. I know I haven't been there and used it yet but speaking from someone who's bought it and tested it I think you will be happy with the Bose. For the cost of less than 2 hours of renting their sound system you can have something that will last you a long time. I even promised my FI that it could be his "lil wedding toy" since he said I'm getting spoiled with all the wedding stuff. HE HE HE I'm not complaining. Good luck to you. Best, Melissa

Be forewarned that if you give your guests an "option" that you have to have seating plans so the servers know what dinner goes where. We have our guests two choices with a veggie option. Did you look in the detailed wedding info book they have on their website? They have the app selections in there. We chose 3 we liked and 1 "safe" app for the picky eaters. If you go back a few pages some of the previous brdies talk about the food they had at their reception.

Whooooo!! You should celebrate with a cerveza! Now it's the waiting game to get the rsvp cards back. We sent ours out end of Dec with a RSVP by March 1. What's that you say? How many have we got back??? Ya um...we have 6 out of 30 sent. FML. Get on the ball people! I am about to send an email out that says "If I don't have your RSVP back in time I'm going to choose what you eat and it's not going to be what I think you like, it's going to the be the opposite....and NO booze for you!"

My gosh! I could seriously kiss you right now! I feel like I have a spy on the the other side who is passing vital information to us!! Thank you so much for all your input. It is very much appricated.
