So question to any of the ladies who have already been married? And please I only want the opinions of the ladies on here. No offense to the vendors on here but I want personal opinions for the ladies and not a biased reviews from a vendor. Did any of you ladies use the photographer that came with the package? How did you like the work? We really don't have the money in the budget to hire an outside photographer but I want to make sure I'm not completely disappointed with my wedding pictures either. Any and all help/suggestions are welcome from you ladies! Thanks!

Show us your wedding dress!
melnryluvco replied to Jennifer's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
First of all. You should LOVE your dress. You may not have a tearjerking experience, I didn't, but you should without a doubt be in LOVE with your dress. That being said I say dress #1 and here's why. I've personally tried on dress #2 and I also loved it but my concern was that with the slightest ocean breeze that the slit in front may open wider than I wanted. Don't get me wrong I want to give my new husband a lil show but that comes later in privacy and not on the beach during our ceremony. Whatever you choose make sure you LOVE it and not just putting up with a dress. Best of luck to you and you better let us know what you end up doing! -

LOVE the sparkle belt!! Congrats!! -
Wow! That is a LOT of work. Good for you! The FI and I are simple people so I think we're just going to do like a cocktail/heavy hors d'oeuvres reception. We found one of our favorite breweries here in CO that will allow us to have a private room and patio to host everything. They'll even let us use our own iPod on their sound system and bring our own cake. We really just need something that the guests who couldn't make it to our DW can come and celebrate with us. Do you have the place booked and everything? Hopefully everything for your AHR goes smooth as the DW!

I don't know where you're thinking about having your DW services but I know that the NOW/Dreams locations offer these services in their Mexico locations. You have to have a letter from your parish preist in order to prove you've take your required marriage classes. You can contact the DW cooridnators at the resorts and they'll help you. Good Luck!

What are you walking down the Aisle to?

Ingrid Michaelson sings a version that will make you cry. It's so beautiful!!! -
So I know I could put this in the AHR thread but I wanted to see if and when my May 2013 girls were going to do their AHR? If you guys are doing an AHR when are you and what kind of AHR are you going to do? Will it be like a 2nd wedding reception or just a cocktails and apps kinda thing? We have 3 venues in mind for our AHR with 3 total different vibes to them. Let me know....

I was having the same dilemma and found two really good websites. I'm not a fan of traditional wording and obviously not a fan of traditional weddings. Here's my favs along with the websites: Warm ocean waves will do the clapping, as our vows we say. The bright, blue sky will be our canopy, on our wedding day. Please join Bride Name and Groom Name as we begin our life journey together Date Time Address http://offbeatbride.com/2007/12/wedding-invitation-wording-that-wont-make-you-barf I love this website for wording advice. Even gives you help if you are doing an AHR. As we share our dreams with the deep blue sea We hope you will share with us as we Bride Name and Groom Name exchange our wedding bands in our dream location Of Riviera Maya, Mexico Time and Date http://www.destination-wedding-guide.com/destination-wedding-invitation-wording.html Good luck to you and congrats!!!

Dinner! - Meal Options
melnryluvco replied to Futurepapesh's topic in Riviera Maya and Cancun Accommodations & Site
Congrats on getting married. I'm getting married at the NOW Sapphire in May and I know that you can go to the NOW website and click on wedding info and download all the info and the meal stuff is towards the end if you are doing one of their packages. Even if you make reservations instead of getting a package it's still $20/$25pp, you still get a plated menu, but not a private atmosphere. Pretty much they make you pay one way or another. I am going to use the iPod option although they charge $150 an hour to rent in. I'm kinda tempted to bring my own travel Bose system or even head over to the club after a few hours if we want to keep dancing instead of paying for more speaker rental. Best of luck to you and congrats!! -
Gosh that would be amazing. "Just charge it to my black AMEX" and I'll review the bill later. I'm pretty sure if that were the case we would be getting married in Fiji and flying our fam and friends out. But alas we are just poor people and will be dyi a lot of my own decor and having friends help me put it up.

I know I've said it before and probably sound like a crazy person but there is a Vitamin String Quartet version without words so you don't have the words of "getting back with someone" distract from the fun and beauty of the song. Also, the Lumineers are from my home state, Colorado, so I'm a big fan of the song too. I think no matter what it's a fun and original song. Have fun and good luck! -
You could always just play dumb and ask a family friend to do it and if they try to charge just say you didn't know and that wasn't exlplained to you. I mean something as simple as homemade aisle runners should not be charge to have a family member put them out.
-
I'll ask but I already feel nickle and dimed so what if I have a good friend lay them out of me. They can't really charge me for something I brought and someone else layed out but then again I wouldn't be surprised if they did. The girl that posted the pic I had put up said to just get white petals and die them with Rite dye in your color. The bottom looks pretty labor intensive...guess you should call up the 'maids and put them to work

Kids coming? Or baby sitter?
melnryluvco replied to lalalal1z's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
Oooooh that's a tough one. Not that I don't love children cuz they're cute and all but there's a time and place for that. That being said you could go a few ways here. First of all you did invite kids to the resort so many people will feel like the entire event will be kid friendly so you will need to decided up front if you are going to have an adults only ceremony and reception or one or the other. Personally well behaved kids at my ceremony don't bother me as much as they do at the reception. I would say something like "All familes welcome to our ceremony. Adults only dinner and dancing reception to follow" I don't really think children, especially small ones, belong at the reception. There will be drinking and the adults will want to dance and kids usually take over the dance floor. And it's a chance for mommy and daddy to have a lil fun away from the kids. To avoid parents feeling like they can't enjoy the night see if the hotel offers child watching services and if not see if a younger cousin or family friend would want to make a some cash by watching the kiddos during the reception. Also to make the kids feel included maybe you could do a kids and family adventure or dinner the night before. Good luck with that and let us know how it all goes! -

WOW!! That's going to be perfect in the ocean breeze. Love it! -
So I had to share this with you ladies because I saw it and immedatley thought of not only how pretty this would be but how much money you could save on ceremony decorations. Which by the way does anyone know if they'll let you bring your own stuff and just have some own set it out for you or will they charge you? They better not charge as much as we are paying to stay there and have a wedding! Anyways, I saw this on pinterest and it is perfect. It says it's time consuming but if it saves me hundreds of $$ for decorations I'm in. You could even take them and use them in your reception area. http://diy.weddingbee.com/topic/my-orange-and-pink-rose-petal-aisle-runner-1

Gosh I know I'm going to have to read through all these posts again several times. Thank you so much ladies for leaving a gold mine of information. A question for the brides that used the resorts AV system and iPods....is there any wiggle room on the price? $150/hr is totally and completely absurd to rent their system if your operating it the whole time or even if they push a few buttons. I mind as well bring down my travel Bose system for that. Also what are the policies on bringing your own photographer as a guest? We have a family member who is a photographer and it would be just as much to fly him down there for the week and then he could capture every moment. Again, thank you to all the previous brides for leaving a wealth of knowledge.
