  1. i'm not sure why my posts always condense into one paragraph now. sorry for the huge paragraph of questions! lol
  2. I echo what Asposeep said - I don't know what I'd do without you guys! =) Kaela and any other brides out there - I was wondering how you organized your bridal lunch? Was this the free reservation that they give you for up to 25 guests? Did you plan anything as far as decor for this? I was thinking that me, my mom and my bridesmaids could have an informal brunch on the day of the wedding before we start getting ready. Will it be easy enough to go to one of the restaurants that day, rather than having anything formal planned? When you went for your makeup trial did you happen to see what kind of cosmetics they used at the spa? Would you recommend bringing everything myself? I was thinking if I had my own foundation then I could just use what they have at the spa for most everything else. Do you recommend a certain foundation to use down there? I'm not a big makeup person, so don't know too much about it though I've started doing some research. Do you mind telling us what time you set your hair and makeup appointments for with a 5pm ceremony time? My WC is saying that hair should only take 60 minutes, but I read somewhere on here that hair usually takes more like 90 mins for an up do. Did you give your DJ a list or CD of all songs to play or did you just give a must play/do not play list? It seems like I've seen it more often where brides have given the DJ a full list of all songs they want played - this seems like a lot of work, though I'm sure that would guarantee they play only songs you like. Thanks so much again!!!
  3. Thanks Amanda!! I was kind of hoping everyone would just show up and know what to do. I didn't even think about sending additional information to them in advance. I'm sure the amplifier system will work just fine if you have your playlist all set up. Will someone from your wedding party be MCing? We want to have our own ipod music at the welcome party as well as the cocktail hour before the reception starts and we are hiring a dj for the reception. I thought having our own music would be a lot cheaper but even with renting the docking station or amplifier, the $$ certainly adds up fast!!!
  4. Hi Kaela - I wasn't sure if you've had a chance to send that info you sent via snail mail to your guests before the wedding? - just want to make sure it didn't go to my spam inbox by accident! My email is [email protected]. Thank you once again! I agree the day passes are expensive! We really wanted everyone to be at the resort with us, but in our friend's case it makes sense since they are a family of 4 and their brother lives in Cancun where they can stay for free. Free stay makes it still a lot cheaper to cough up the dough for the day passes than actually stay in the resort. I also was curious if anyone used the ipod docking station for $150 vs. the amplifier for $250? Does the docking station have adequate sound for the lesser price or is it worth it to get the amplifier system?
  5. Congrats Karyc on your wedding!! How was it?? Would love to hear all about it! That is helpful to know, that they won't take our stuff away if we do go over the $300 mark.
  6. Hi Kaela and any other brides who got married at ABH! I was wondering if any of you had guests stay outside the resort and how the day passes work? One of our groomsmen and our officiant (a married couple) are staying outside the resort, but we'd like them to spend the day before the wedding and the full day on the day of the wedding with us at the resort. How is the 8 hour policy enforced? Also, when I looked back out our Azul contract it says guests with day passes are not allowed in any of the guest rooms. Is this enforced? Any help you can provide is much much appreciated!! Thank you, Melissa
  7. Hi Kaela! I'd also like to see the list of info you sent to your guests before the wedding. My email is [email protected]. I'm sure I'll have more questions and be sure to post them. I appreciate all your help! Thanks SO much! Melissa
  8. Hi again Kaela, Did you have any trouble in the restaurants with people enforcing the dress code? We posted the resort dress code to our website but I have a feeling a lot of guests still may not read it or realize that they have to dress up each night. Did you have an uneven amount of bridesmaids compared to groomsmen? I have 3 girls and FI has 4. I'm wondering how to have everyone walk down the aisle. Sorry for the multiple emails - I keep having more and more things come to mind. I can't believe it's less than two months away!! Thanks!!! Melissa
  9. Kaela, Another question for you. Did you have any trouble bring all of your OOT bag contents, gifts, sheers, maracas etc into Mexico? We are saving our receipts and are going to bring them. But I heard you can only bring in $300 worth of goods each. I'm not sure how people stay under the $600 mark. Thanks!
  10. Hi Kaela! Thanks so much for all this info! Do you mind telling what sheers you bought from amazon and what the measurements were? I have been planning to have my hair and makeup done at the salon at the resort and getting the trail run through too. did you happen to bring them pictures of what you wanted, and they weren't able to do it? I wouldn't even know where to look if I wanted to hire someone outside of the resort and unfortunately I don't have friends or family that do that sort of thing. how would you have planned the hair/makeup part differently if you could have? did you have real cymbidium orchards for your trial too, or did you order those only for the day of the wedding?you're hair looked perfect btw, noone would have been able to tell if you wanted it any other way! I love the maracas - i will probably order the blue ones from the same site! how did you make the "shake for a kiss" tags? I'd like to do that as well, though I am not very creative! Thanks again! Melissa
  11. Kaela - I love love love your photos! It looks like it was such an AMAZING day and you look like such a beautiful and relaxed bride!! Thanks so much for sharing!! Were the flower petals on the walkway real or silk? Did you bring them with you? Were you and your bridesmaids all barefoot for the ceremony? Love it!! What was the live band you got? Was that for your cocktail hour? Was it worth it? Did you have a DJ for the reception? Who did your hair and make up? Did you do a trial? I too want to have a flower in my hair, and am having trouble deciding which one to choose. Did you buy the maracas for favors once you were in Mexico? How did you arrange that? Sorry for so many questions, seeing all of those photos inspired me!
  12. For our OOT bags, we got the large hibiscus tote bags from Oriental Trading Co. Contents: hand sanitizing wipes tissue packs advil sunscreen pepto bismol hydrocortisone chapped stick deck of cards Tums Aloe band aids mini gummi bears, swedish fish and twizzlers possible other salty snack custom koozies I also ordered postcards from vistaprint with a welcome message that I'll include in with each bag.
  13. Hi Amanda, Other options I am aware of are the wave lounge or on the beach at playa chil. I'm not sure if there are minimum requirements for the ballroom or sky deck.
  14. karyc - I was told we could meet with our DJ in the lobby, so it shouldn't be a problem for you. They also confirmed 70 max would be ok, so I have a good buffer. Phew! Kaela - I'm so glad to know that they will help with the timeline! Sounds like good advice to go through the onsite coordinators for as much as possible too! Amanda - thanks for the sample timeline. It gives me a good idea of what to think about and how long to alot for each thing. =)
  15. Thanks for the layout suggestions Amanda (it's weird my WC didn't offer to send the same thing)! At least you will get to be in the Blue Terrace – your # is so close, it's a bummer how unaccommodating they can be about some things. Can someone please tell me what the maximum # of guests is at the Blue Terrace? My #’s keep creeping upward and I want to know if I am going to reach the max for that venue. Karyc, I’ll have to ask the same question, I didn’t even think about that! Maybe if you stay in the lobby for your meeting with the DJ they won’t charge the fee? Not that that is very comfortable or convenient…Which DJ did you hire? DJ Dorremixx? Would any of you mind sharing your day-of timelines? I had thought the resort would take care of this, but they said they don’t typically put together a set timeline. Thanks!!
  16. Hi Ladies! I'm not sure what happened, I wrote out a whole reply and submitted it, but it hasn't shown up. Thanks for all of this information, it's so helpful! Amanda - I'd love to see the layout suggestions! my email is [email protected]. Kaela - congrats on your wedding! Thanks for sharing your photos and video! I'll have to view the video when I get home. I cannot wait! Do you think there'll be enough room for dancing if we do 4 tables of 10 and then a few smaller tables too? I like the idea of putting them together to make square tables of 8 but I’m just not sure it’ll work with our group (I’d like to keep people who know one another together, as well as a good mix of singles together at the tables too) which means tables of 10 might work better. Thanks again for your help!
  17. Wow ladies, thanks so much all this information! I love the idea of putting the tables in a square rather than a rectangle bc it seems easier to talk to eachother, but I'm not sure with my group if I'll be able to do that. Would it be hard to make several tables of 10 work? I was hoping we could maybe make 1 table of 6, 2 of 8 and 4 tables of 10 work. haha not very even, but then the groupings make sense and most people that know one another can sit together and have a good mix of singles seated together too. What do you think? Amanda, I'd love to see the layout suggestions! My email is [email protected]. Kaela, congratulations on your wedding! Thanks so much for sharing your photos. I'll have to view the video when I get home, but I can't wait to see it!

  19. Hello! I love this thread! So helpful! I am getting married April 28, 2013, and am planning to have about 60 guests in the Blue Terrace for our reception. I was wondering what the best way is to arrange the tables. I've heard of some people putting multiple tables together. Has anyone done this that would recommend it? Did you do it in a straight line or in a U shape around the perimeter of the venue? Thanks so much!! Melissa
  20. I love all the information in this thread! So helpful!! I am getting married April 28, 2013 and am planning to have the reception at blue terrace. We are going to have 59 people plus 2 kids. I was curious what the best table arrangements are in this venue for a group this size. When you say the 4 tables were put together, were they in a straight line or a U shape around the outside of the room? Would you think this would work for our guest size? Thanks so much!!!

  22. Hi Everyone! Does anyone have any recent reviews for DJ Doremixx? Has anyone had any of the other DJs from Doremixx for their wedding besides Ivan or Temo? They are both booked for my wedding date but said they could send a different DJ. Thanks!
