    I know, I'm so in love with the Tiffany chairs, that might be my splurge depending on my final guest count. I found a similar cylinder vase at IKEA at 20 bucks a piece, I figure maybe it'll save me the headache of not having to worry about transporting glass myself and it's 5 bucks less to rent them. And I don't know how many of my guests will actually want to lug a glass vase back home with them anyway and I'll have plenty of other favors for them to take home. Aris is so amazing, she always responds back so quickly to my emails, love her!

    Hey ladies, so I've been hounding Aris because I refuse to pay $50 for each centerpiece and finally told her I'm willing to bring my own flowers for the centerpiece (I heard they use fake ones anyway!) and the votive candles. She finally told me they can rent a cylinder vase at $15 per table. I'm waiting to hear if this includes the mirrored plate as well, which makes it wayyyy more affordable. She sent me a photo of the cylinder vase and I'm also waiting for her to send me the dimensions of it. Here is the sample photo she sent me. Also, I found out that the tangerine package table decor allows you to choose one of the following: 1. colored tablecloth 2. white tablecloth with color runner 3. white tablecloth with a topper? not sure what she meant by that, I'm not really a decor expert (LOL) but she attached the following photos: Last but not least, she also attached the included centerpiece everyone has talking about, which is not terrible, but I'm more a fan of taller centerpieces.

    LOL! This is exactly why I chose to do the crazy hour also! I think I remember Aris telling me I would have to provide any hats or whatever extra props I want my guests to use during it. I'm not sure my family will need any props though and I have enough to carry with me over there as it is!

    It looks really nice! I wanted to do something similar while bringing my own supplies but this would save me the trouble of bringing or shipping vases over. I can see that you added your own personal touches to the centerpiece as well and it looked beautiful! You have been incredibly helpful and I can't say enough how gorgeous you looked. That dress was absolutely stunning and it definitely looked pretty heavy but worth it!

    Solo, Your hair really did look great. I think I'm gonna have to invoke my inner bridezilla a bit and put my foot down about my hairstyle, no matter what anyone else says. I'm definitely a little worried about the weight of everything and especially since I'm probably bringing my own centerpieces. Do you have any pics of the centerpiece the resort provided you with? Just in case I decide to cave and pay for it after all... It's good to know the DJ turned out well, looks like I'll have to start working on the playlist soon!

    Everyone tells me, it's too windy on the beach, blah blah blah. But the way Soloparatijc did it, it works! It's our day, we don't want to regret how we look in our pictures!

    I completely agree with MissJali. Get your date first! I confirmed my date on my own by contacting the Wedding Dept. at the resort. I sent them two emails within 2 weeks and when I still didn't get a response I bought a calling card and called over there. I told them I was waiting for a response to confirm my date and someone emailed me back within a day. After I confirmed my date, then I contacted delta vacations to arrange travel for me and our guests, I just let them know I had already confirmed the date with the resort. Also make sure you ask for confirmation of every email you send to the wedding dept. at BBPD

    Solo you looked so beautiful on your day, congrats!! Your headband looks gorgeous with the veil! Someone gave me a similar one as a gift in case I chose not to use a veil but now that I have a veil, I see that it can work with both! I love that you kept your hair down even though you had a beach ceremony, everyone keeps trying to talk me into an updo which I really don't like. Your review is so detailed and your photos came out amazing! The seashell was a great touch to the huppa but I wonder if they'll let me bring my own instead of paying $175... Did you provide the DJ with a playlist at all? My family is Dominican and considering the DJ is probably Dominican as well, I would love to assume that he would play enough of the latest Spanish music as well as English, but you never know!

    Good luck with your dress shopping! I got lucky and found my gown on my 1st trip. I used April TwentyFive for my custom invites that are being shipped out today (yay!!!!). I am so stuck on what to do about those darn centerpieces. Arise sent me samples of what they offer for centerpieces and I was not impressed at all. So I'm thinking of taking my own vases, candles, etc. over there by packing them in my family's and bridal party's carry-on luggage. It would be way cheaper, in my opinion. I fell in love with those Tiffany chairs, especially since my reception is in the ballroom. My fiancé tried to veto it, but my future mother-in-law backed me up (haha!). Looks like I'll be picking up some OT at my job to pay for them. It adds up super quick, especially when your guest list is as humongous as mine. Blah

    I could've sworn I posted a thank you to all you ladies on your feedback about RSVPs... looks like it just disappeared! Anyway, thanks again ladies. I decided to make my RSVP date January 15th which gives me a little over 2 1/2 months before my wedding. I sent out my STD's back in March and while I got a couple of family members assuring me they will go, no one has officially booked their packages yet. This is pretty terrifying considering I invited about 200 guests! (We both have very large families) I decided to go with the later date since it looks like our family members will be taking their sweet time in booking their packages and I'd rather get a more reliable number rather than having people say yes and then back out. I am using Delta Vacations which doesn't have a deadline for bookings and the final balance for guests isn't due until a month before. I'm sure this is going to lead to some last minute stragglers, ugh

    I agree with Bjeantil, it really depends on the size of your party as far as the DJ/MC goes. I've read of many people setting up their ipods for small parties and having family members go up and use the mic whenever they want. My personal preference is to have one because MC can really liven up the party and you don't have to rely on someone going up to change the ipod in case something goes wrong. I'm hoping for a buffet as well but am still waiting for a quote from my WC for it. It was actually her suggestion since the distributing of individual meals can be very time-consuming, especially if you have a large party. I think it is an additional cost though, but they have a variety of different themes for it. Let me know if you get a price quote on the buffet!

    The weather in DR during the summer months is pretty unpredictable. When I went for my site visit at the beginning of this month, there was a 30% chance of thunderstorms every single day and only rained the day we arrived and one other day while we were there but it usually only lasts less than an hour and the sun was out for most of the day each day. In that case, I really wouldn't worry about it. As far as the Tropical Storm, last I heard, it was weakening and if it does hit DR it'll be early in the week. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you, but stay positive girl!!

    Question for you ladies... Currently having my invites custom made and I haven't been able to decide how much time I should give to my guests to RSVP. I know the average time for regular weddings is usually 3 weeks to a month before, but our situations are definitely unique considering we've having a DW. I would love to know ASAP, I would say about 3 months before, just so I can get my numbers in order to prepare OOT bags and favors (as well as preparing for paying for all the extra guests!). But I'm worried about people accepting and then backing out a month before. Any suggestions?

    Just sent it! My email is [email protected] I had hinted at possibly bringing my own materials for the centerpiece during my meeting with Aris a couple weeks ago. I'm just terrified of trying to transport vases or any other glassware. Aris suggested wrapping it all in bubble wrap, but knowing the way luggage is handled at the airport, I'm not sure how comfortable I feel with that idea. I might just do it though, might be worth the risk.

    aww, I love how ahead of the game you are! It's really pushing me to get as much stuff done this summer as possible. I'm taking a summer class now but I'm taking full time classes at grad school again in the fall as well so I really should get a move on it, especially with the size of my wedding. I'm just such a procrastinator! Not to mention, it's gonna be impossible to get any summery stuff, like for the OOT bags once its over, so it's definitely smart to do it now.

    Considering everyone else's experience on this board that I've read about, they're pretty adamant. I have read of at least two brides taking the photographers from their area or friends or flying them out there and including them as guests. If I'm not mistaken, my WC might've mentioned that is a possible loophole. This is the one thing that's really irked me about the whole thing, I hate that Tropical Pictures are the "official photographers". Their style is not bad, but their prices give me a headache every time I think about it. LOL But I suppose they have to cash in somewhere.
