  1. dollar tree, that's where I got mine! Tested out one and they're just as good as any other ones i've gotten from old navy, etc. Of course, not as good as tervis, but for a buck, you can't beat it! You might have to check out a few stores to get the quantity that you need but it'll be worth it. I'm doing the waterproof stickets from etsy with a logo of some sort.
  2. great idea!!! or tequila if you're going to Mexico! I haven't been asking anyone to help simply because I want them to be surprised that I'm doing it on my own, plus there shouldn't be a ton that you'll have to do, I feel like we're the lucky ones who don't have to worry about the little details like napkins and silverware and chair covers, etc. etc. etc. You're not the only one who has the feeling like no one else cares, there's whole thread about mom's and rants, haha!! The fiance will likely be there when you ask him, mine is out of the loop and thinks I'm a wacko for buying a thousand things from the dollar store. lol! I wouldn't expect him to come up with any ideas on his own, mine certainly hasn't. this is my thing and i only ask him for opinions if i really need them. What resort are you staying at in Punta cana?
  3. Nice, the gum is a good find! I'm determined to find aloe there but might have to wait until the weather is warmer. I wonder if people will bring their own sunblock...or oil...I was thinking of putting sunblock in my bags too but heard that they weren't really used in other people's OOT bags.
  4. Same question here, I'm not sure If I want them but would still like to check out the price before I decide.
  5. we did a cruise in early september because we wanted to enjoy the sun and pool on the boat our way down from MD to the bahamas. If we had booked when it was colder, we would have been bored out of our mind. we are sun lovers and our only days out of the sun were on the way down (because we left port at 4pm, and our way back).
  6. hahaha, if you look at old threads you'll see June posting, think she was trying to get her post count up! : )
  7. thanks!! I will have to check them out, i just got some eye masks from their $1 bins last week.
  8. I love it when I get feedback about Mexico, I'm with you, why in the world would I pick a shady or unsafe place to celebrate my WEDDING?!! Come on people, its beautiful! It's these old school attitudes that won't even look at the resort's website because they think Mexico is dirty or unsafe. I have found the mothers to have a strange attitude about the whole destination wedding idea, your damned if you do a traditional wedding and damned if you don't. I love your last comment, and I'm with you, as long as my fiance is there, that's all that matters!
  9. Here's what I have so far: Clear Plastic Tumblers (dollar tree) Drink Packets - powerade or something(big lots) Generic pepto bismol (big lots) Generic tums and ibuprofen in packets (big lots) Eye Masks (target dollar bin) Sewing kits (dollar tree) Chap Sticks (dollar tree) Lanyards with ID holders (ebay) Nail files (dollar tree) Not planning on doing favors since these will serve as a thank you in my opinion. Plus I feel like the only favors I enjoyed from weddings I've been to were edible! haha, the coasters, keychains, etc. have seemed pretty useless. I am also debating bottle openers for the bags too. Are you doing favors? Also, I plan on doing canvas bags or some sort of beach bag and have ordered some samples to see quality, but I want to hold out for summer where I might find some in stores. Have you bought bags or stuff to put in them yet?
  10. I've heard a lot of bad stories when people try to ship ahead of time, although it would be so much easier, right!!?? Its lucky if it even makes it through customs because they need people to arrange for a pickup, etc. so i wouldn't recommend doing anything but bringing it yourself or with other guests.
  11. destinationweddings.com has a $50 reservation fee but it gets refunded on your trip once you book. totally recommend them! I've never heard of any other online DW services.
  12. what's the etsy seller if you don't mind? I'm looking to price some out and these aren't exactly the colors i'm looking for... thanks!
  13. ebay has some of the bottle openers, try typing lot starfish bottle opener, and it'll pull up some for roughly $1 each (50 for $93)
  14. agreed, people tend to book at the last minute once they have as much as possible saved up even though a lot of places will allow you to just put down a depost first.
  15. yep, agreed! I do feel that destination wedding guests have to deal with more guest complaining than a normal bride, but oh well, that's life...can't please everyone!
  16. pretty cool if i was having a private reception, but i'll forward this along to anyone to may be having one.
  17. I have the mom who wouldn't stop talking "when's he gonna propose" for 7 years, then once he did, she doesn't want to EVER talk about the wedding or planning for it...what's the deal?
  18. HAHA, same exact thing here! We have always said we wanna do something different, all of our friends have been so excited to see what we were going to plan because I've always said destination wedding. As soon as we decided on a place and date and people started checking out the details of our destination wedding they started to bail and complain about the cost, and blah blah blah. Over it! We gave people a year notice and only a $100 deposit was necessary within 30 days after sending out the save the date, but I will be interested in seeing who books after the invites go out. After they complain that they can't afford it when they should have booked 6 months before then when they had more time to save, sheesh!
