  1. I don't have a contract like that though. I have the check.
  2. Have you tried Wedding Paper Divas? They have simple invitations and you can purchase the pocketfold. I have a sample in my house and we liked them and probably should have gone with them to save money but we chose a slightly more expensive option (but compromised quantity to afford them). Im convinced wedding invitations end up in the trash, on the floor of a car, in the glove compartment- because no offense to my friends but thats what happens when they get married. We use them for the direction cards day of and then they never leave my car lol. The only reason we chose the ones we did was because 1) We skimped on the Save The Dates 2) We do acknowledge that the invites set the tone for the wedding and excite people 3) they are usually photographed by the photographer. 4) I worked a few hours of overtime at work to pay for them! When we did a cost comparison, we were able to afford the more expensive ones because we ordered a smaller quantity. I skimped on sending them to certain guests- like our bridal party who is already all booked. Mostly the groomsmen, I'm still sending to my maids, because the groomsmen told us they "lost" our Save the Dates. They are single guys lol I doubt they care about the invitations. Also- I had a brother and sister who lived in separate households and they thought I was silly to send them each a STD. They told me I could have sent one and addressed them as "Nunez Family". So we shall order less! Cut corners where they need to be cut! I firmly believe invitations are a place where you can and should save some bucks.
  3. Hey EV- I had to request it through the resort. I tried contacting the church directly but they never responded. Then the resort sent me this file that the church wrote up and sent to them that said "never contact the church directly" lol but I had already sent the email. Oppsie daisy- but yea- let the WC know you're interested in a church wedding.
  4. Well she specified photographer. I called them a guest, so I think it can work. My fiance doubts it lol because our photographer would have to check in. So I told him he can check in on Friday- the day of our wedding and since he is doing a TTD for us on Sunday- when he picks us up (Our TTD is at another resort- his idea for variety in backgrounds), he can check out. Dilemma solved.
  5. So lucky! We cannot find a reliable dog walker or sitter for while we are away plus she requires multiple walks because she is highly energetic. I take her to a local park with a dog run for an hour a day or I walk her 4 times at 15-20 minutes each walk or I put her in Doggy Day camp (it's real). I usually put her there on days when I know I will be late- say like today. I'm at work form 7-7- thats cruel and too long to be without exercise and relief, so she's in day camp having supervised play time, they feed them lunch and dinner, and crate them at 5 pm while they await pickup. For our wedding- we are having a delayed honeymoon. We are staying at the resort for a week for the wedding but taking a honeymoon later in the year. I plan on buying one of those deals from living social somewhere exotic and different- since we're already going to the Caribbean. - like Thailand, Egypt, Spain. Living Social has great deals! As far as the dog- we will be boarding her but we board her in the Petsmart Pets Hotel and they have the doggy day camp option. It's $32 a night and $19 for day camp so she costs $51 a day to board- which is still cheaper than some other places. When we take our delayed honeymoon she will stay with a friend. The Petsmart Pets Hotel is awesome! I have been taking her to day camp for 2 years now and I know the workers well. They love her! And I can tell they treat her well because she is so excited to go when I drop her off. They also make snacks like peanut butter Kongs and Lactose free ice cream (additional). There is an associate who works the graveyard shift so someone is always there. They even have a "Bone booth" and you can have your dog put into a room with a speakerphone and talk to them and check in on them. I know the associates so well that one of them offered to dog sit Elly at her house while we were away but obviously for much less. I'm ok with it but my fiance prefers to board her because her vet is through Banfield and Banfield has a clinic inside of Petsmart, so if something goes wrong she will receive veterinary care. I swear they are just like kids. I pay a monthly pet insurance for her that covers her shots and visits, I buy her toys and she leaves them all over the house or breaks them the day I buy them, she needs to be put in day camp, she prefers sleeping in our bed, she throws tantrums when we don't take her out, and she always wants what someone else has. Dogs are hysterical.
  6. Which ones? The Save the Dates are Wedding Paper Divas and the Passports are Ana DeRoux- google her- she has a website and a FB page with lots of designs. These are $5 each but the benefit of a destination wedding is you need less of everything, so I figured the price was fine.
  7. I love that this thread has turned into a doggy post! So I might as well join in the fun. Here's my four legged soulmate. We always joke that in the hierarchy, she is first and then my fiance. We also joke that we will never divorce because "we have to stay together for the sake of the dog". In any event- we love her to pieces! Before our destination plans- we looked at catering halls and looked the managers straight in the eyes and asked "is our dog allowed on the premises. She's in the wedding party" and yes. They thought we were insane. Here's Elly! Can't wait until my fiance gets his suit so we can send the pic to the lady who does the cake topper. Its customizable down to our eye color, hair color, dress and suit. And of course our baby.
  8. So here's what I found out today- And its contrary to some other info I have posted so please read if you're considering outside photography! I asked the WC about outside photography. My questions are in black- her responses are in red. Dear Bianca, I had a question regarding videography. Does the same $1,000 fee for photography apply if we want to use an outside videographer? We will not be using Arrecife for photography but I had a question regarding the $1,000 fee. If one of our guests takes pictures and they are staying the required amount of dasy and they are one of the 24 people we include in our Aqua package do we: 1) Still have to pay the $1,000 fee? not for the photographer that stays 3 days at the hotel; will find out about the videographer. 2)Still have to pay the day pass or outside vendor guest fee ($135?) For the photographer staying 3 days as a guest- no outside fee. Now...here's what I'm thinking. A single rate in one of the rooms is more expensive than a double (about $7-$800 for 3 nights as quoted by my TA. But I do have 2-3 guests who will be boarding as a single room. If I list the photographer as inhabiting that room a) my single guest gets to pay the double room rate which saves them money. Instead of paying the $1,000 fee for outside photography plus the $135 day pass- we pay the $606 for the 3 night stay instead of $1135. Our photographer WILL NOT be staying with us because he has a room at another resort and will be shooting other weddings during our wedding weekend. So he doesn't really need to physically be in the room but if we said he was and one of our guests was his "wife" or whatever, we'd get away with the $1135 fee. $606 is still a bit expensive but I shaved $500 off the price!!!!!!!! That's exciting. I just wanted to share because I know some of you are thinking of going with an outside photographer but are not keen on paying $1135. Hows $606 sound? LOL Better by a mile to me. I am definitely saving her email in case they try some funny business later.
  9. I believe there is but I'm not sure...time to ask the wedding coordinator haha. I am still not sure if we are having a videographer but I'm leaning towards yes. I have not seen any of Arrecife's videos though.
  10. Do you have any pictures of you in this dress? I almost ordered it but because it was 2011 they did not have the sample for me to try. I admired this dress for quite some time.
  11. This is so cute! We are also adding our dog to our cake topper. My mother thinks I'm insane. She prefers monogram cake toppers. My Save the Dates, My cake toppers- those are opportunities for our quirkiness as a couple to shine through. Where did you get yours? I love that your husband to be is a pirate haha. We're buying ours on Etsy from a girl in Korea I think- It costs $130 to customize it.
  12. My Save The Dates and invitations DO NOT match- we went with these quirky Save the Dates because we are both funny characters. We also had not nailed down a Theme for our wedding but needed to send out Save The Dates so people could start booking. I ordered the Save the Dates from Wedding Paper Divas. We made business cards for our Travel Agent to hang up with the Save The Date magnets. We bought envelope seals from staples and address labels for our printer: Our invitations are being made by a woman named Ana DeRoux. You can check out her designs on FB. I think her prices are reasonable. This pic isn't our invitations- but its the ones we ordered. Ours won't arrive for 3-4 more weeks. We are changing the colors of the peacock feathers to navy blue, teal, and aqua. We are taking out the Purple and gree.
  13. I love the custom stamp! Do you think you could ink stamp a canvas tote? Probably not but just curious. Everything came together so well. I love DIY projects but I'm not great at them. It's such a loss because my fiance is an advertising production artist and he can design a custom logo digitally and make lots of things- but he didn't even want to do the invitations! He gets swamped at work and we don't have the necessary equipment at home, but I wish he was more crafty. All your projects came out great and don't look homemade at all. Rustic yes- but you could have just as easily as bought these products. Great job. Congrats on your wedding.
