  1. I love the draping in the front. Very goddess looking and its perfect for a beach wedding. Great pick.
  2. The pic up above is absolutely gorgeous! I hope you frame it. You made a very beautiful bride. Congrats!
  3. The Jesus Maestro Parish in Bavaro for the ceremony and The Reserve at Paradisus Palma Real (PPR), Punta Cana, Dominican Republic for the reception and stay on July 5th, 2013!
  4. Thanks so much for this tip! Didn't even think of that! Will try!
  5. I want a honeymoon baby too! But that would certainly interfere with school. Plus the hubby was thrilled when I told him I was considering going back to school because although I am ready for my honeymoon baby- he is not. He says he wants to enjoy being married, just the two of us for a little, but I think he's secretly scared. I don't want to push him before he's ready. He is more like "financially I want to be sound and we should buy a house first" and I tell him "no one is ever financially ready for a baby." LOL Except maybe millionaires who can pay for private hospitals and nannies and chefs and guest houses for their nannies and chefs.
  6. Thanks! I'm going to try and buy them. I had a "veil" fitting scheduled for tomorrow but sadly- I have to host parent teacher conferences for my school so I had to reschedule- bummer. The salon where I bought my dress has veil trunk shows and you schedule your fitting during the trunk show so you can purchase your accessories while your dress is on. I won't be trying on my dress until December now ; *( but I would like to have these shoes by then. Worse case scenario- they clash and I don't wear them. Thanks for the feedback. I am not a shoe person AT ALL. I wear the most ugly orthopedic looking clunkers to work. But these have stolen my heart.
  7. OMG I can't wait to get married! LOL It feels so far away. It's just when you are working overtime to pay for your wedding, and attending the pre-cana religious courses, and shopping for things online- all the pieces make you eager with anticipation. Lets get this show on the road...anyone wonder what the heck they will pool all their energy into once they get married? Going back to school for me so I can get a promotion. I am currently a teacher and hoping to get into a program to become a school principal. Not as fun as planning a wedding though... lol
  8. Ok so forge the first shoes I was thinking about...There is a pair of shoes I have loved for a few months now. I saw the picture on a wedding color inspiration board but they didn't have the name of the designer. I don't know- but I managed to find out the designer- Kate Spade- but the shoe is from an older collection and $300! DSW made a knock of version for $40 but its sold out! Of course I'd give myself a mission- why not? I found them on Ebay and the Kate Spade that is $300 is currently $90 but with 8 days left. The buy it now price is $249. Slightly cheaper- but still out of my budget. Im attaching a picture of my dress- my concern is it does not mtach my dress. Our colors are teal, aqua, and navy blue- so I can pick a show in any of those colors and I love the whimsy of these they are so up my alley- but I don't know if they fit with my dress- or if I can get em! The polka dotted shoes in the middle pic are the ones I want but the ones to the right are the ones I think fit my dress better but they are expensive and I don't love them as much. Can I get away with the polka dots?
  9. Well it's not $1,000- we still have to pay for the room : ( so we are saving $400- but thats good enough for me. That can pay for the fire dancers hahahaha
  10. These are amazing. I love that the sleeve has the plane and the map on the back. I also love how prominent your names are. I wanted to do a boarding pass but I didn't come across any this nice so we went with the passport.
  11. I really think every bride must have dress regret at some point during the process. Not that I'm happy all these brides are having it but at least it lets me know I'm not alone. Almost crying because of a dress? I thought I might have been going insane haha. I don't think your dress is too much at all- I think its exquisite. Then again- my dress is heavily beaded and I love dresses that are. There's no right or wrong dress or too little or too much. It's about you and how you feel. Put it back on and fall in love again.
  12. Yup. You are correct. She sent me the part of the contract where it says if the photographer is from the U.S. or Canada and stays in a room the fee is waived. She also confirmed that the $1,000 fee also applies to a videographer- so we will likely just use Arrecife for our video. Not sure. I haven't seen any samples of their work. Just their pictures.
  13. I agree. I love that idea. I was going to say it sounds like a lot of work until you said your friend makes jewelry. I really do love the idea!
  14. I have to tell you- I have never seen your dress but see your comments on other ladies dresses and you are so complimentary and sweet. Now its our turn to allay your fears. Your dress is gorgeous and fits you very nicely. I love that there are different fabrics at play. It's really just a matter of taste. Some people like a classic chic look, some people like a little wow factor. My comment is coming from group B. I think it looks great with the sash and I agree with your friend. The bow gives it a soft, whimsical feel, while the bling in front gives it a little something extra. You really cant go wrong- because both looks are beautiful. It's about what you feel great in. It's tough when there are other people with you to react and there are conflicting opinions. But honestly, honestly- I love the dress either way. If you took away the sash- would you add a hair accessory or veil and jewelry? Maybe seeing it with those things would change your mind about wanting the sash. There are other ways to add bling and wow factor if you are concerned the belt is detracting from the elegant beauty of the dress. I haven't had my first fitting. I didn't really need alterations because on the size chart, my proportions fit perfectly within one of the sizes, so they just ordered it. But when I did the inspection (no trying on) I had the same feeling you're talking about. I felt regret. The dress didn't look the way I had the picture in my head. And I almost cried. And my mother saw it written all over my face. I'm sure I'll struggle through my next few appointments. I think brides feel that way because of the pressure to be perfect. I know the day of your wedding you will not feel an ounce of regret- and neither will I. Everything is going to be fine! You have a fantastic dress, a great figure, and you're marrying your great love. In other news- you have one of the largest guest counts I have seen lol I had hoped for that many guests but we have just a small tally. In my opinion- you're all set for a fabulous day!
  15. I love the idea but I didn't see any styles I liked. It probably works best with a custom gown. I saw it at a sweet 16. The girl had this poofy gown and after her dance with her parents, they removed the skirt and it was a sleek, form fitting cocktail length dress. I loved it when I saw it and think the concept is awesome for a destination wedding. I just know your options for how you envision yourself could potentially be inhibited because of the lack of available convertible dresses on the market.
  16. My fiance said the same thing about what he's wearing. He said " I had no choice in choosing your dress- that was your own experience. It should be the same for my suit."luckily- he has pretty impeccable taste and my friend owns and operates a Custom Clothiers Company and his suit is being custom made by her. I did argue with my mom and my bridesmaids a tad because they said- what if he picks something that doesn't match our dresses? and I told them we would wait to buy dresses and buy them to match his suit. I think its only fair. So I kept my options for dresses open and showed him my choices. For each choice he picked a suit that would match. When he chose his suit, we just picked the dress that went best with it. Fortunately- the bridesmaids first choice ended up being the one that matched his suit best. I looooove the grey and purple combination. I wanted him to pick that and then we would have gone with turquoise dresses. He ended up picking a dark grey suit with a pattern that has faint blue lines. The suit looks more blue than grey actually, so our girls went with a peacock jewel tones dress. I had several palette options for my color scheme- but I let him pick his suit first.
  17. You're right which is why it ends up coming down to a conversation of having the information on the invitation. I had to tell my guests face to face. Before booking they asked if they could stay somewhere else or they flat out told me they would stay somewhere else and that's when I had to sit down and have the conversation. Put it back on the hotel. I told my guests the hotel would not allow them access to the resorts without having a guest pass and they got the hint that this meant they would have to pay to get on to the property. I wholeheartedly feel that that expense should not belong to the bride and the groom. We also had an issue because my fiance is Dominican and his family who lives in DR wanted to just come for the day and we explained to his mother that if they were to do that they would have to pay for their own day pass. That can get out of hand.
  18. Gorgeous gown. You look resplendent. I say go with the sash! I like the extra pop it adds. I love lace- its timeless and elegant. I'm curious about the first dress too! Post a picture. What are the odds! HAHA once we became engaged and I would look through bridal magazines and ask my fiance his opinions he would say "I'm not saying anything because I don't want to stop you from your dream dress with my opinions and if I say I don't like it I don't want to break your heart." Once I got my gown- I actually did show him the pics of all the dresses I tried on- with the exception of "the one" and I asked what he thought and he refused to say anything because he was worried if he nayed a style close to my choice, he would offend me. He also refused to look at them for a very long time. And he will not say anything when I watch SYTTD because he thinks I'm trying to bait him into commenting on a dress similar to mine. He is convinced I have already shown him the pic because he thinks its one of the ones I didn't pick. What are the odds that he would comment on your actual gown? That's insane! But I'm glad you found an alternative you love even more than the first. What will you do with the first gown? Will you sell it? Or use it for a TTD? Or change into it for the reception?
  19. I love the simple flawless look of this dress. It's so flirty with the raised front. I like the fabric and the flower in the front. Great choice. It looks suited for a fun, spunky, unique bride. And it looks like you can party all night in that dress!
  20. Well thats a pretty ballsy move! I'm glad the risk paid off. The gown is gorgeous. I love the intricate beadwork and the belt is insane, and it fits you perfectly.
  21. Congrats! I don't know what your first dress looked like, but this definitely has a formal, bridal look while still being comfortable and destination friendly. Glad you feel beautiful in it, as every bride should. Are you at Nordstrom's Wedding Suite? LOL
