  1. Thanks for the pics Ana- No need to apologize for your post- it was honest and truthful- exactly what we need. I wasn't upset by it. I was just mentioning that is a complaint I have heard elsewhere- although it is not one to take lightly and is pretty gross. LOL no guests of ours want to see that when they are paying a pretty penny to join us at the resort. Your pictures look as beautiful as the professional ones. I'm glad you liked everything else.
  2. Thanks for your honesty although, your information is a little disconcerting. Bottom line is there are insects everywhere. I have read reviews of other resorts on here as well as tripadvisor and travelocity reviews and they all report waterbugs or other uglies crawling around- which is unfortunate but not a deal breaker- but definitely Nothing anyone wants to see. This is one of the more expensive properties in DR so they should have everything together. The service better be impeccable or they will hear from me as well! I have several friends who have stood there and report it was the most amazing resort they have been to. A few even report going multiple times. I hope for all of our sakes they fix whatever minor issues they have. Waterbugs creep me out and I DO NOT want to see one while we are there. All I need is one more thing for guests to complain about. Everyone is already pissed at us for choosing an expensive resort lol. If you don't mind sharing some pics, post them on the thread in a reply. Curious to see non-professional pics of the place. I'm so worried because when we were going to conduct a site visit I had a death in the family and we could not go. Are you still considering this resort despite the glitches? Hope you find what you are looking for and again, thanks for your review.
  3. Thanks for the review Ana- did you not go to the other restaurants because they were closed? Ugh rain- I hope that doesn't happen to us that's certainly every brides nightmare. How was the crowd? Did the resort seem full? I guess its hard to measure when its off season. What were your complaints about the room service? Did you take any pictures you are willing to share? My biggest regret is the date we selected. Initially when we looked flights for fourth of July weekend weren't high and our travel agent said it wasn't a major holiday because it wasn't long enough. Now the flights are astronomical. I'm afraid some people will not be able to join us. I've already had my father and my sister tell me they most likely won't make it. The group air was the best decision- we locked in $500 round trip per person with taxes included- but they wouldn't give us more than 15 seats and people have to agree to depart and return on the same exact flight. We had people who initially thought to stay just for 3-5 days switch to 7 just to get on the group air because the price was so good. Now we are referring our friends and family to travelocity, cheapcaribbean, cheapoair and other booking sites to try and find packages that are cost effective. Bottom line- a wedding around ANY holiday is a terrible idea. We did it for that weekend because we figured people wouldn't have to take time off because they already had the fourth of july weekend off but in retrospect- people will take the time off regardless- go for the cheaper times to fly. That is what we should have done
  4. So cute! I love bows. Unfortunately, they clash with my dress so I don't think I can get anything with a bow- but they are super cute. Your wedding is just around the bend you must be so excited!
  5. Peach- please tell me you hand delivered those to people haha. They must be expensive to mail but they look awesome. I'm sure your guests found them to be unique and fun. They look amazing! If I were attending a wedding I would have taken a picture of this and put it on Instagram- definitely sets the tone.
  6. Thanks for the info! Unfortunately, the shop says its temporarily closed and does not know when they will return, otherwise these would be perfect! They are so cute! I can probably make my own though now that I am looking at them. Thanks for the lead.
  7. I ordered the topper on December 11th. I communicated with her prior but the 11th was when I sent her our pictures. She sent me a sketch the next day. I made the payment on Etsy after I received the sketch and she started work on the topper. She emailed me a few times to ask questions during production and then sent me a picture of the final topper on the 12th- so it took about a month to make. She is waiting for it to air dry and will ship it next Monday for a total time of 6-7 weeks, depending on how long it takes to arrive from Hong Kong.
  8. Hey fellow brides- Past and Future! How many of you will do (or have done) a first look? My fiance and I are getting married at 5 pm and our reception is at 8. Unfortunately, we will miss out on the sunlight so we have no choice but to do a "First look". At first I was not happy about this, but my photog says its his favorite thing to photograph and after doing research, I have seen a lot of first sessions executed so adorably that I am ok with it now. What I need help with- is finding cute blindfolds. Are there any former brides who have done a first look and know where to get them? I have looked online but all I get are bondage websites lol. I'm looking for blindfolds that say "bride" and "groom". I have searched on Etsy and Pinterest, but have been unsuccessful. I have seen them in photo sessions of other brides. Do any past brides have a vendor they have purchased blindfolds from? And future brides- do you plan on doing a first look? Where will you do yours? Will you involve your bridal party?
  9. AWEEEEEEESOME! Hehe fur baby. Can't wait to see how yours turns out! Happy creating!
  10. I want blue shoes as well! I love these. I am looking for a 3 or 4 inch heel and I'm flexible with the hue of blue. I'm having my ceremony in a church so I need heels and then our cocktail hour will be on a terrace. Our reception is the only part on the beach haha so then I was thinking barefoot sandals. But I love these shoes they are super cute great choice. Originally I wanted a pair of Badgley Mishka's and my godmother gave me $300 for my shoes but I ended up using the money elsewhere and now I am just looking for a bargain shoe that won't break my bank but will still be gorgeous.
  11. Aren't they cute. How can you not love her work? I was inspired by the other toppers and my fiance is quirky like me and we both love our dog to bits so it was easy to convince him haha Good luck convincing yours!
  12. Andrea and Lori- I ordered the topper from Etsy. The artist is Serena Kim and her company is called Clayphory. I highly recommend her. Turnaround time was extremely fast, her communication and response time is exceptional and clearly her craftsmanship is amazing. She was honestly the easiest vendor I worked with.
  13. The passports? They are the true passport size. 3.5x5 or something like that. I know when I ordered them she had three choices- mini, standard or large and we ordered the standard.
  14. Thanks! I like them more with the crystals. They were nice, but I felt like they needed a little pizazz.
  15. My cake topper is here! Well not quite- haha its finished and the artist sent me the pictures and I am in love. I cropped myself out and showed the fiance pictures of the part with him and the dog because I didn't want him to see my dress! She made it so detailed it would definitely give too much away. I think this is easily my favorite thing we have purchased aside from my dress but its so quirky and so us, it might even best the dress. I like that we can keep it as a memento. I love the artist so much that I joked we could get one in the future for our baby shower and one once we had children and we would have a collection of life moments haha, I hope she's in business that long- she is great! Without further ado:
  16. The mia looks great on everyone! All of you ladies look exceptional in it. It will photograph nicely.
  17. Ok! So mother whipped out the Swarovski gun and we jazzed up the invites. We put 4 crystals on each invitation and on ours, hers, and my mother in laws- we spruced them up extra special- because we are all keeping ours as mementos. We also figured the photographer will be taking a professional picture the day of so we wanted it extra blinged out. Here's the new improved version- P.S. if you want to bling anything out I strongly suggest the Swarovski gun- it comes with 7 tips for different sizes, heats up the crystal and affixes it. $19.99 in Michaels Craft store. You can't see the sparkle of the crystals too well in these pics... but they look great. I liked them before, but I love them know. Thanks for your help ladies!
