    Thanks! I just don't see spending $85 and up or table and all I get is a rinky dink vase with some flowers. It's so small! And then I asked for the manzanita trees and the florist said she couldn't do the trees but could do branches for $75. Branches! Lol so I want to use the ones that cost me $10 each to make lol.

    Did you bring the glass bowls and vases with you? How did you transport them? I am bringing my centerpieces with me because its so expensive and the centerpieces they provide are cheap for the price you pay. I want to bring mine down but there are glass elements and I'm concerned about the weight and ease of transport.

    My planning call update- The whole call took about 20 minutes and as others have said, was primarily to hammer out details. Nothing really new, although it was nice talking to a human for a change. I booked my appointment at the salon for 11:30 am so that I have time to get dressed back at my suite since I am foregoing renting the bridal suite. I just figured it was an unnecessary expense. We are having a "First look" session at 3, so I needed an early appointment. I think I love a lot of pictures of things I see but in theory- I can't rationalize their cost. For example- favors and having to transport them. We purchased luggage tag gift kits from Michaels. The tags are silver and we were going to use them as our placecards. I thought this was a cheap souvenir but you know what? I'm ok with it lol Especially since we are having an AHR when we come home and I was considering giving all our guests, including those coming to our wedding in DR- mini photo books from the wedding. Its a better memento, I won't have to bring it to DR with me, and it will fill up our AHR tables. I could tie a ribbon around each with a tag and those can double as our place cards for the AHR. Wheels are a turning in my head. I thought about it but as our guest list dwindles...I'm not sure I want the headache or expense. I don't know if its worth it and I don't want to haul too many things over. A lot of what people put in the bags just does not seem worth it to me. I like flip flops, the keycard holders...but I can't think of anything else to put in that would make it worth my while. I am expecting 34-40 guests. Even at 99 cents each- sample items will run us $50 per item. And again- I would have to cart all that extra stuff on my own. I am thinking of a nice thank you note with a small token for each guest and just doing the bags for my bridal party. The jury is still out though.

    For those worried about hair and makeup- I don't know what your tastes are but Dominicans can do hair! I have been going to Dominican salons all my life. My suggestion would be to bring lots of pictures and run trials here and then take a pic of a trial here. As far as makeup- Erica your suggestion is good. You can have a bridal party member do your makeup. I will let the salon do it just bc its included and if I dont like it my mom can fix it. My planning call is today at 2! I feel like I waited forever for it and it just came out of left field. Yikes!

    Oyyyy. I'm worried too we are in July. LOL What time is everything taking place? Our ceremony is at 5 pm in church and 7 for cocktail and reception at 8:00 pm on beach so I'm hoping it will cool down by then. My dress is tight with heavy beading but it can be a little of an issue. The reception is so short and nothing compares to my dress so in my mind- keep it on girl! Suffer through lol Its once in your life! And then switch into a short reception dress for the after party- if you are intending to keep it going. I know I am. Since we are getting legally married in NY before heading to DR to avoid the headache of getting married there- I purchased a little white cocktail dress from a store called Cache. They had 4 short white options and 2 long, flowy, chiffon looking dresses. I tried all of them on haha. We never did an engagement shoot so we hired a photog to take pics of us in the courthouse. The dress was a little of a splurge at $198 but I intend on wearing it again at the resort, most likely once I take my wedding dress off at the end of the night and get ready to boogie down. I don't know how heavy your dress is, or what time of day you are getting married. Those two factors will weigh on your decision- but I think my dress is too fab to take off unless I'm about to pass out. I even joke to my friends about starting a blog called The Perpetual Bride and going everywhere with my dress on- groceries, work, the park...lol

    Hi Court! We have interacted on a few threads so when I saw your planning thread featured on the scroll banner I had to take a peak! You and your fiance are super adorable! I used the same knot website template for our wedding. We were considering doing the honeyfund as well- so its nice to see your website and the wording gently letting guests know you dont need the traditional wedding gifts. An acquaintance told me about honeyfund and said her brother and his wife used it and their wedding was completely funded- flights and all. That's pretty flipping awesome lol. I enjoyed reading through your thread and some of your tips are definitely useful. Congrats on your very soon and upcoming wedding. You must be super excited! Evelyn

    Thanks! I used Livingsocial to purchase our engagement shoot. We paid $99 and the photographer agreed to accompany us when we go to City Hall to get legally married in the states- so technically its a wedding shoot lol but it was a moment we wanted to document and now we can. I also plan on purchasing our honeymoon from livingsocial and right now, they are also offering a hardcover 20 page photobook for $9. Can't beat Livingsocial lol

    Seriously! One of our groomsmen was just arrested for a DUI and his court date is our wedding. He text us "sorry" and my MOH text me she didn't want to be my MOH but when I took her off my wedding website she flipped on me and said she wasn't sure she needed "time to mull things over." She said "I dont know if we should even be friends" I told her- well while You're busy mulling- my wedding is in 90 days. Either you're in or you're out. Friends don't need time to think about whether they are going to remain friends. I don't have time for your high school drama" and that's where we left things. Haven't spoken to her since. I'm really over everyone's bull. I can't believe how incredibly selfish people are. I never did anything like this to any of my friends during their wedding process. You are right to take that approach. Like I tell my mom- we are booked and we have all the things we need to get married and on July 5th that's exactly what will happen- with or without anyone else's involvement.

    Has anyone worked with Lara? I emailed her early this week and havent heard back. I don't know what is so difficult about returning an email but they work at a snails pace. This is why they shouldn't have preferred vendors. If their vendors don't work to my liking, I'm just stuck with them? Sucks. Any former PPR brides on this thread use her services for decor? I am bringing things down with me but I wanted to order fresh hydrangeas for my centerpieces.

    Let me know about the beach terrace. They offered it as a reception location since we only have 40 guests and they swear they can accommodate that amount. From what I saw in the pictures- it did not seem big enough. They don't have pictures of it set up because it isn't typically used as a location. Bianca says its the same size as Olympus Terrace but it seems smaller. I'd love to see pics after your wedding. I'll look forward to your review!!!! You're almost there.

    Thats about where we are. I haven't sent my AHR invites out bc I have been super swamped and busy but our AHR is July 28th so we need to get a move on. We only told a few people about the AHR because we didn't want people to get the impression that it was an actual full wedding reception.

    I Loooove your dress. The cap sleeves are amazing. It fits your theme and will look great on the beach- so flowy and dreamy. Overbooking did I hear? Ugh that's irritating- same happened to me with our reception location, but I have come to terms with it. I'm glad it doesn't seem to irk you. I love the chill out chic decor, but since we had blue as our colors, we went with the Aqua. I love the rustic feel of many of your elements. Your cake topper is adorable- I got mine on Etsy as well. They have many elements that match the Chill out chic, so go Etsy crazy haha.

    Yea I wasn't planning on having one but my sister feels up to the challenge of baking one. She was formally the manager of a bakery and she bakes professionally on the side for events. Originally when we weren't having a DW we commissioned her to bake our cake but then we went rogue haha. Well she has since volunteered to make our AHR cake which I guess is great considering the catering hall will not be giving us one because we are not having a full wedding reception- just a cocktail party.

    Natalie- I hope it all works out for you! This shouldn't be so stressful! I'm sure you will find something you absolutely love. I've learned in this whole process to listen to my instincts as well because the times I didn't- I came up losing. I'm pissed with mysel bc I allowed myself to be swept away at a veil and headpiece show and spent waaaaay too much on my veil and headpiece. I could have saved a couple of hundred dollars buying on Etsy or Off the rack. I think we all take a few missteps during this process because we have so many opinions being hurled at us and an immense amount of pressure. Hope it works out in the end for you. Follow your heart!     I have a question for everyone planning rehearsal dinners. Traditionally- they are only meant for the bridal party and the parents, but it seems many ladies on this thread are having them for their entire guest list. Is there a particular reason? Why not just have bridal party for rehearsal dinner and then have a thank you brunch the day after the wedding for everyone at the buffet where everyone will fit? Or have a rehearsal dinner with just the bridal party and meet everyone else for drinks at one of the bars. It just seems like organizing a rehearsal dinner is a nightmare with too many guests and once you invite more guests than the bridal party- it really isn't a rehearsal anymore- it's a pre-wedding party/ dinner. Just some options to think about since the resort does not seem to be able to accommodate large groups.

    Emily you look like Hayden Panetiere! You are a beautifu bride and I agree with the other girls- your hairdo is amazing. It is difficult to find a likable hairstyle- especially since I'm not a huge fan of updos- but yours is gorgeous. Congrats.
