Show us your wedding dress!

Perfect choice bc I'm weighing in all late in life and was going to say- I love the flower to the side. I'm a bling bride myself but the dress is so gorgeous because of its structure. The appliqué on the bottom throws off the dress for me too, but the side flower, since its off center, goes with the flow of the dress since it has the rouching switching directions, if that makes sense lol sorry I don't know the technical term. Your dress is stunning and it looks great on your figure. Congrats! How exciting! I recommend adding jewelry to your bouquet if you want fresh flowers or having a brooch bouquet! -
Post pics of your Wedding Cake!
EVKnowsitall replied to EricaG's topic in Wedding Flowers, decoration, cake, etc.
Here's our cake. We bought the edible peacock feathers from a vendor named Sugarbot on Etsy. I gave them to the wedding coordinator to put on the cake and she didn't know how. When we got to the reception the cake only had our topper and the feathers were sort of attached but flapping in the wind because the coordinator had only affixed them on the tip. It didn't take rocket science to figure out that the feathers could easily be pressed against the cake and actually be held on by the frosting, so in haste, my mom and I pushed them into the cake. By the time we had done that however, the beach was extremely windy and they were blowing around, hence the gaps. I didn't even care to be honest lol but my mom added it to her list of reasons why we shouldn't have had a destination wedding. -

2013 Paradisus Palma Real

Eudice did my hair and makeup and she was amazing. I was so nervouse because I didn't bring any physical pictures, nly pics I had stored in my phone. And I googled them the night before my wedding when I was in bed with a stomach ache because in all the chaos I hadn't thought of how to style my hair lol! Thank god she had an idea. She also did my makeup very natural. It wasn't over the top- subtle and just right. -
What have I learned from planning a destination wedding?
EVKnowsitall replied to shellb's topic in Random Thoughts
That was our original plan and I changed it. I regret changing it. We were just going to have a MOH and a BM or have people but not give out titles. The titles cause all sorts of drama- like why am I not the MOH, I've known you longer!" LOL -

Since this a thread for honesty- I will offer you my honest opinion. I like the two I kept in my reply- 2 and 3. The fit of three flaters you so much- it looks amazing. The second one (first one pictured here) is dramatic and screams bride to me more than the fit and flare though. This is my take- its about what you feel gorgeous in. Not every style works for every bride so its important to know your body. There isn't one right dress. I tried on a ball gown because thats what "brides wear" and to humor my mother. I hated it! It was too bulky and it didn't feel like me- so just because it looks "bridal" or looks amazing on some women, doesn't make it right for you. My advice is the same advice I will use for myself when buying a house. Pick your non-neogtiables- the things you have to have in a dress. For me it was straps, bling, and ease of travel. That helps to eliminate certain styles. I only tried on one strapless dress (it was the ballgown lol) because I knew I did not want a strapless dress- so no need to bother with those styles. I also didn't want a plain dress- there went a few more styles, and ease of travel eliminated ballgowns for me haha. I went to Davids bridal and had a terrible experience and ended up not trying anything on. Then I went to a salon called Bridal Reflections and tried on 8 dresses. My dress was number 2. I didn't love it as soon as it was on because it was a bit different from what I envisioned- though it fit all my criteria, so I continued to try on dresses. But I kept comparing everything to my dress so the consultant made me put it back on. I told her it was missing something- she gave me a cathedral veil and a bouquet and bam. I could not stop smiling ear to ear, I didn't want to take it off, and I really envisioned myself wearing that dress on the beach. When it was done and I saw it I cried with regret because I thought it looked different than what I ordered- it was just bridal nerves because it looked amazing at my final fitting. I wish you the best of luck- don't stress it too much. Go with the one when you come out of the dressing room you think "I can really see myself marrying my husband in this" Sounds corny but close your eyes and try to envision your wedding. Which dress are you wearing? And then STOP LOOKING. Do not watch Say Yes to the Dress, Do not shop online, Don't watch Dave Tutera - you will second guess your choice and make the process more agonizing than it should be. Good luck! -

Say yes to the straps! LOL my dress had straps and it was actually one of my non-negotiables. I went into the dress store and told them : It has to be blinged out to the max, it needs straps, and it needs to be able to travel. LOL. My straps were similar. I love the train and the back. This is a gorgeous dress. Congrats- and isn't funny how your MOH chose your dress and it wasn't what you thought you wanted? My mom chose mine and I looked at it on the hanger like "no mom I'm not trying that on" and it was my dress! goes to show you being open minded helps! -

Yea we each lost one. And they were both in the bridal party. I feel like it happens more frequently than not. I would cop to being a bridezilla had I been one but I was patient and kept her in until the bitter end. She was the one who quit on me- but not before she had already insulted half of the bridal party, left me high and dry with her dress and an unplanned shower and bachelorette party because she was my MOH, and called my wedding stupid and stating that she would not mourn the loss of our friendship. -
Guestbook idea for small guest count?
EVKnowsitall replied to lolo411's topic in Wedding Flowers, decoration, cake, etc.
Heres ours: Not terribly unique- but everyone loved it- and although we had a frame with instructions for how to sign- some people still did not get the idea- as you can see there are random leaves that aren't on the tree lol. But it is now framed and hanging on the wall in my hallway right by our door. The mat was $12.99 at Michaels and I used a wedding coupon for 40% off one wedding item and the frame was $24.99 with a 40% off coupon. The acrylic paints were .59 cents and I bought a crystal ashtray that had three dividers to put the paint in. We bought baby wipes at the 99 cents store. -

We did a palette of blues. The resort decor package was Aqua but I knew right away I did not want Aqua dresses for the girls. The men wore Navy blue suits because my hubby chose the James Bond suit from Skyfall as his suit. For the girls, we chose Bill Levkoff Teal dresses which were not teal at all- more like a Caribbean blue. My sisters were supposed to wear the same dresses, as they were originally bridesmaids, but they dropped from my wedding and then rejoined when it was too late to get them the same dresses. They bought off the rack at a store called Camille La Vie. My maid of honor who owns a custom mens clothiers business chose the ties for the guys and it brought everything together. We kept the same color scheme for our AHR. It was just cool blues. Felt breezy. At the reception we had Aqua tablecloths with Navy blue chair ties and peacock feathers in the chair bows. Here are a few pics:
