  1. We got DJ Doremixx... He hasn't been exactly clar but I think he will be setting the things up by himself. I don't see the company using man hours for two mc s when only one guy will be actually DJ ing. I think the resort should be a bit more organized as too all of their info. Seems crazy that they send the planning forms out two months before the wedding. DJ s, florists, photographers, and a ton of other things need to be accounted for well before two months out!
  2. At first they told me 1.8 as well, and FH assumed she meant to say meters. But I emailed her again to clarify, and she told me 3.6cm.... But centimeters... Again! Sigh... I think about six foot sounds right. Isn't a language barrier fun?!
  3. April, So do you think that is 3,60 Feet? Cause she specifically told me cm... Im thinking...3.6 cm is not long enough for anyone to sit at, even 3.6 feet is rather small for 8ppl! I think the DJ will just be one person, so 120 bucks. Even though it's a lot of equipment it will still oly be one guy, but I think you'll also have to purchase a day pass for him
  4. Can anyone tell me the size of the round tables used for the receptions(as in length)? I'm trying to get linens for them. The wedding coordinator is confused by that question I think. First she told me 1.8cm, then she told me 3.6cm... Can anyone decode this?
  5. I am not aware of any other places to go and dance, At least on the reosrt. They always have music playing at the bars though. I stayed on this resort a couple years ago. I think thats pretty lame that they are taking your one option away though! I've been a bride zilla lately... I would demand a discount on something... A dancehall, their vendor fee.... Something! It's Mexico, they might be down to bargain!
  6. When I asked about the Bon fire, Landy said they don't do them, but a tequila tasting is a nice option. It's 15$ per person, and includes like 10 or 15 tequilas, and snacks..it takes place up stairs from the coffee shop area. I wanna do this! I think what I'm going to do is out something in my welcome letter"RSVP to maid of honor if you want to participate". I have a lot of family that doesn't drink tequila and grandparents, so I won't have to pay for the people that don't go. I can email you the attachment if you like:) I think we're getting the DJ...sigh... Looked into some bands and they are all very expensive. Im not paying for a three hour reception and decorating it to have ppl go off to the disco halfway through.
  7. Yes i mean, I don't want ppl saying,"this is lame, let's bounce " lol. I want some form of entertainment! The DJ is in the budget, my fiancé just doesn't want an empty dance floor and ppl feeling uncomfortable... Hopefully the WC has a good idea... Dee dreams, are you all doing a tequila tasting?
  8. Sooo... A bit off topic- I guess my fiancé thinks that a DJ mighty be a bit much for our wedding, we aren't big dancers and we have like 25 guests at max. I think the DJ is important for just structure, he'll introduce us, and announce things, what do you all think?he says we can go to the disco to dance, but I think I'd we're paying for a three hour reception we should stay at the reception, no one wants to hear crickets chirping. Any ideas for other entertainment? Fire dancers?
  9. Wooowww. I can't believe they only allow the DJ for three hours without more fees. I got five hours too, and the DJ had said he would do music for the ceremony if we had our reception and ceremony close to each other. Honestly I'm so mad right now. Just over being nickel and dimed. If I may vent ... I emailed Landy some questions, ten days later some things were pressing I needed her answers, so I resent the same email just as a reminder. She finally got back to me. She sent 18 emails ,all the same. I guess I was bugging her... Or her computer was acting up. Unprofessional either way. We dont have that much stuff, just table runners, centerpeices, And only 20 ppl so far. any ideas for mood lighting other than lanterns and candles?
  10. She said I could do the chair sashes myself, not positive if she meant the laterns too or what but I hope so. She also said they charge 120$ for bringing your own DJ. I want in on the cheap lanterns too! I found them. It they didn't have my color... Save On crafts has a ton of good stuff, the lanterns come in a ton of colors, they more you buy the cheaper they are...
  11. I want to have our reception at the seaside grill Terrance. I recall this location from our last trip to dreams Tulum and it would be perfect, if we could have it private. If not private, ill prob go with the pool deck what about you? I want more info on the lanterns too! Landy just quote me $150 set up fee for 10-15 lanterns.... Ew. Lol, pricey or am I cheap?
  12. I was wondering if anyone had any information on the permit needed to take wedding photos at the Tulum Mayan Ruins. I am staying at Dreams Tulum right down the road, and I am bringing my own photographer from the states. My wedding is in May 2013. Any info on who I could contact regarding this permit or permission would be greatly appreciated! Also, my photographer and I would like to do a cenote shoot. Any tips on nearby cenotes and their fees to shoot wedding photos would be very helpful in the planning process. Thanks!
  13. We have the same date! Must be a lucky day:) I went to Playa on our last trip to Mexico, such a fun city! Senior Frogs was the best. Congrats on your wedding, enjoy the planning!
  14. Also, I've been searching around but can't seems to find it. Does anyone know when you have the ultimate package how long you have the resort photographer ? I want to hire an outside photog but trying to see how long we need him for. I email the resort photog but he has not returned my email yet.
  15. Taegan, That would be awesome! I've been dying to get a peak at it! Thanks so much in advance:)
  16. Laura Ash, Did you email your photographer? I emailed several a few days ago and still have not heard back from any. Also, do you happen to have a copy of the flower guide still? There is a copy on page 1 , but I don't have enough points to download it. If at all possible could you please email it? ([email protected]) did you do a tequila tasting for your guests? When I asked about a bonfire,Landy said they don't do them but suggested the tequila tasting at $15 a person.
  17. Thanks! At first the planning was fun. Now it's becoming a huge headache ...
  18. Hi ladies! I am set to be married at dreams tulum may 11 2013. Great ideas for the oot bags. We are doing mini Spanish phrase books in ours. 2$ on amazon.
  19. We are arriving on th 5th, and leaving on 15th. Maybe I'll see you!. Photographers are expensive! At first I thought they meant pesos.... Lol. I sooooo want the dj and the photographer, those are the 2 things I so badly want to make room for. I'm gonna search for that thread. Got our own little club... Awesome:)
  20. I love these photos! We are staying in Tulum for ten days, and I am really hoping my budget allows a professional photographer. I have compared the resort for a professional, and I'm convinced on getting a professional! I'm also hoping our budget will allow a dj. I think it would make such a big difference. Laura ash I love your dress ! I have yet to find one....
