Destination Wedding Not Taken Seriously
Tulumbride2013 replied to janette34's topic in Just venting or funnies
I second TA babs! I'll come to the party. I'm worried about my similar situation. My fiances mom has told me, oh you don't need centerpieces, you don't need favors, ect. It's my wedding and I want it pretty! In addition I was forced to invite my future brother in laws horrible rude gf, brother said he would not attend if she wasn't invite. I have known her for two years and she as never spoken to me. Grrrrrrr. Anywho I do congratulate you on your marriage, I bet it was beautiful. Your future will hold so many great things you won't even need their warm wishes! -

Our DIY Hangover Kits!

What's funny is we were going to do goody's powder in them... When I opened the box up I realized it was just plain white powder folded into wax paper... No drug facts or label. Realized that wouldn't look very good going through customs.. Lol. -
I actually looked on the resort website for ya, the FAQ s say this- What is the difference between legal (civil), religious and symbolic ceremonies? Only a civil ceremony is legally recognized. A religious ceremony has no legal bearing and does not replace in any way the binding legal civil marriage. A renewal of vows or religious ceremony is a symbolic ceremony. It is performed by a non-denominational minister. (Please note that Catholic ceremonies cannot be performed outside the church). The bride and groom will receive a symbolic marriage which is not legally. So basically everyone here is right including your TA. They are the Same thing, but I would still figure you could get a wedding package with food and ect...
-
I'm confused too. I know we had the option to have our legal wedding here at home, then have the symbolic ceremony in Mexico. We opted to do the legal ceremony there. I would skip your travel agent, go straight to you resort website and get info from there. Contact the coordinator at your resort via email to get answers, the TA isnt the expert here. You should totally have the symbolic ceremony option. If your resort doesn't offer it, there are plenty of resorts that do.

Hello ladies Im having an issue with my DJ,from DJ Doremixx. He (ivan)was very responsive right up until the point when I sent my deposit and contract in, now I'm finding him unreachable. He said he would confirm that he had received our deposit as soon as he picked it up and would confirm our service. Western Union says its been picked up but I have not heard from the company, and have sent 5 emails, and also called, over the course of about a week and a half. FH is livid. He had great reviews here so I didn't think twice bout ending money down to MX. If you have him booked, did you receive any type of receipt for your deposit?

No zipper, just a standard beach tote/tote bag. quick pice from my cell below. i put a savings card next to it for sizing:)But I will say this: I washed all of the bags(except the one below) because I am ironing on a design and it was suggested they be washed first, to improve adhesion. They shrunk, a lot! Like, an inch on all sides. I even washed them on cold and everything! Ya live and ya learn.....

Just got my totes in from cheap totes.com. Thought I would share my thoughts. I would definitely say that for .88 cents each, you can't beat it. The quality is not amazing, they are thin. But for my purpose, I would order them again. They are also larger than I expected them to be. I ironed on a simple design and I am satisfied with the end product.

No I would think the ocean would destroy it, it's just sand and salt water. It really should come completely clean. -

I plan on doing it the day after the wedding. I will probably not pay the resort to do my makeup, but perhaps my hair. I want to do a cenote underwater shoot, there are several cenotes close to my resort that allow this. -
Photos of my day are the most important aspect of my wedding. Years from now when my husband, children and I look back on that day, photos will be essentially memories, in physical form. I love this idea of the destination wedding, it gives me this feeling of freedom. But there are so many of our family members that cannot make it. My loved ones that are too old to make the trip, our friends that are expecting babies and cannot fly, and those who (in this economy) just flat out cannot afford to make the journey. It is comforting to know that we will have people at the wedding taking photos to share when we return home. Those that could not make the trip still have the opportunity to feel the emotion our guests felt. Photography is more than just pictures, they are literally a still moments in time when we have the chance to relive the feeling that we felt on that day. Completely priceless. We all have loved ones that have passed before their time, and for me that was my sister, who 3 years ago, died at age 30. Its comforting to look back on her photos and remember her in her happiest of forms. I hope that with photos of my wedding day, I can remember myself in my happiest form, a bride. I can forever share these physical memories with my offspring, and friends and family that will later come.

Hi ladies, I got my totes from cheaptotes.com at .88 a peice. Haven't gotten them in yet but I'll update on the quality when I do. Also found a great site for linens, weddinglinensdirect.com. They have a great color selection, and their sashes are only .89 cents, sold in ten packs. I ordered satin samples and their quality is very good:)

favor ideas

Hi Lisa! We are doing welcome bags for our guests, and the resort will be putting them in the rooms for us, I'll share what we have going in them. Bags themselves: cheaptotes.com88cents, going to iron on a simple design after printing them out on transfer paper: 18 transfers for $30 Shotglasses: little thing favors.com, 99cents each with a minimum 40 order plus 38$ personalization charge. Decks of cards, also littlethingsfavors, Personalized, no additional charge. 89 cents each Sunblock: 1.25 each Hand santitizer: 1.00$ Hangover kits: http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/t/81377/our-diy-hangover-kits#post_1803905 Underwater Disposable cameras:$6 each Spanish phrase books: $2 amazon We are also doing cute buri hand fans on all of the chairs at the ceremony, beforetheidos.com 85 cents each. we only have 20 guests, and I'm doing one bag per room/couple. I'm not into anything cheesy or with our monogram. I feel like those end up in the back of the closet. I Personalizaed the shotglasses with the year and location of our wedding. A lot of these places also have coupon codes or free shipping. We budgeted around $275 for twelve bags, and are staying in that budget. Hope this sparks some ideas for you! -
Texasmandy, She has not told me how long ahead of time we can set the chairs up. She just said that someone from my wedding party can do it. If they have other weddings that day, and they feel as though it would look unprofessional or if we would take to long setting them up, they can do it but I'm not paying for it. I'm bringing all of these emails with me as proof of the promises that we're made to me. Sorry ladies, I've been a bridezilla! Especially after seeing all of these extra set up charges..
-
I don't think I am purchasing extra flowers, the prices are really high. Im bringing chair sashes but then again I only have 25 ppl. I might end up sending them with my moh or something. Also bringing three centerpieces, fans for chairs a ton of starfish, and my oot bags. I'm making my stepdad set the chairs up to save money, but then agin we have a super small wedding. As far as bouquets I'm making a seashell one for my moh, seems easy and affordable, and it lasts forever! So I booked DJ doremixx, bride81, did you get any kind of receipt for your deposit?. He said he would let me know when he had it picked up, that was over a week ago. I've sent 3 emails and no response, but western union says he picked it up. Seems sketchy, but he has a ton of great reviews.
