  1. BEST. WEEK. OF. MY. LIFE!! I won't have pics until this weekend and am heading down to Tulum and Akumal until Wednesday but ill post pics soon.
  2. Thanks so much! I guess I'll see how the service is when we get down there but it's good to know that 30 is about 50! We leave the house in exactly 12 hours from now...I'm 95% packed and heading out for drinks to start it off right!
  3. Thanks! I don't really want to exchange any money for pesos either so was hoping that the right answer would be that American money is cool. Someone answered in another thread that I also posted in that US dollars are worth more then pesos down there but sometimes can be hard for workers to exchange...that being said, I'm still leaning toward dollars
  4. Is it better to tip in US dollars or pesos?!
  5. Tipping the resort WC and bar/waitstaff...pesos or USD??
  6. Congratulations! You looked beautiful and the pictures are great!
  7. Thanks Meghhan! I was thinking somewhere along the same lines with tip, but wasn't sure if that was enough/too much. Our woman made the reservation and room block and our guests booked thru her although she has been terrible at returning our guests calls. She's great at responding immediately to emails but always seems to "lose or miss" the calls. Kind of annoying since its mostly our older family members who've called since they don't do computers but it all worked out in the end. The other thing I thought she did and didn't realize that she didn't do herself until the last few weeks is do things like arrange our welcome dinner and transfers (which me and my fiancé still don't have and leave on Saturday mornings but that's another story!) again it seems that someone from the travel group Travel Impressions makes these arrangements. They've been fighting with the hotel about our welcome dinner bc our contract states that it is in one of the specialty restaurants and the hotel told us that we have too many people for the restaurants and it has to be at the buffet. I honestly don't care if it ends up at the buffet but they are trying to get the hotel to make accommodations for us. Even with all that still unresolved and no ride from the airport to the hotel, I'm the least stressed I've been thru it all. I got married last night (which was perfect!), I've started packing my clothes and am officially on vacation for 2 1/2 weeks!!
  8. Hey girls, I posted this on a thread by itself but haven't had any responses so hopefully some of you will Just wondering everyone's thoughts on this...we used someone from destinationweddings.com. We didn't have to pay a fee and from what I can tell she may be the middle person between myself and the hotel (until I started to email the hotel coordinator directly) and the point person for guests booking travel but then another company actually makes the travel arrangements. She was helpful at first by sending us info on resorts in our price range and I've remained in contact with her through out. Has anyone else used destinationweddings.com to book their wedding? Do I tip her? If so how much and how? I've only communicated with her via email, never once spoke with her on the phone.

  10. Congrats!! We leave Saturday! What has the weather been like down in Mexico, the weather channel says chance of rain daily but what's it really been like?
  11. Congrats Jamie! Soak up every minute of your day! I picked up my dress today (and fell in love with it all over again), I finished clothes shopping (for real, I'm not buying another thing...I think and I made my nails, and waxing appointments for next week. Coming into the homestretch and I'm feeling good about things, only thing I forgot (so far) was table numbers but I think I may just go by wooden numbers and paint them and add glitter to them and the somehow get them to lean up against something
  12. Hi Kat, I just wanted to check in with you to make sure you received my emails. Let me know if you have any more questions Karen
  13. Have such a great time! I can't wait to see everyone's pictures when we all get back...it's hard to believe that all the stress and silly panic over the last yest of so is just about over. I told myself when I started panning I wouldn't let things bother me the month before my wedding and so far so good...just need to make it they the next 11 days and u won't even let work be me down now!
  14. Scheduled our legal ceremony for 3 days before we leave with just our parents...
  15. I wouldn't stress the room situation at this point in the game...let her figure it out, she's the one who's plans changed and you already have enough on your plate! That being said... I successfully packed all my decor and welcome bag goodies into 2 extra suitcases. I'm so glad that I decided to ditch the extra votives candles bc they wouldn't have fit anyways!
  16. My mom went out and bought a steamer this week to bring down with us. Is it just me or does anyone else keep buying clothes for the trip but feel like they have nothing!?
  17. The lady who did my alterations ha suggested that I let her roll my dress and pack it in a carry on suitcase. I was planning on just asking the airline to hang it but then heard that jet blue doesn't have a coat closet. Packing it in a suitcase will be easier in the long run but will also take away from my clothing allowance haha! Ill probably have her pack it with my finances shirt/pants and a bathing suit for each of us and change of clothes for each of us just in case. Hoping to finish clothes shoppin this weekend and then will really be all set to go!
  18. Hi Kat and welcome! I'm getting married at the Riu Palace Mexico in less then three weeks (we leave 2 weeks from today!!)) and would be more then happy to answer any questions and pass along the info I've received. I'm on call this weekend and stuck at home so will put together some info for you in an email if that's ok with you, that way I can attach things like pics and prices that I've been sent from the coordinator along the way. Please let me know if you have any specific questions and ill do my best to answer them. My best advice, don't sweat the small stuff Nd have fun planning! Karen
  19. Good luck Jessica! We leave 2 weeks from today and I can't wait! Great ideas about banks and phone plans...it might also be worth mentioning to your bank that you will be putting several thousand dollars on a credit card when you're down there...I read someone on here had difficulty bc their credit card had $3000/day limit. Have a great time and don't forget to relax!!
  20. Too funny and I love it! All of my friends call my fiance, Terry, Teradactyl, I wish I had thought to do something like this for the topper, its a great idea!! I leave in about 2.5 weeks and am not even close to starting packing yet...I don't even know what I'm doing for placecards yet and still need to find jewelery for my girls. I did pick up my marraige license today and get a list of local justices of the peace so am going to make some calls tomorrow and try to lock someone down for the week a night or two before we leave to get that done with!
