January 2014
lgerry replied to meganator22's topic in Destination Wedding in Riviera Maya, Cancun & surrounding areas
It is coming up fast... I agree!!! Although we haven't been able to start any of the planning with the WC yet, we are almost done everything else! All OOT bag items are purchased, invites are mailed out and we have a good idea on final numbers, suits and pants from studio suits shipped last week and should be here this week, all my attire and jewelry purchased, and bridal party gifts purchased and made!!! There's still a few things lefts to do such as applying iron-on transfers onto shirts and vinyl letters onto tumblers, but other than that we're now just waiting on the resort to plan the big details. How about you meganator22? How's your planning going? -
We placed a big order worth about $150... the shipping came to about $40. That's supposed to include duties and taxes and they shipped it through Canada Post. Its supposed to be here on Monday according to the tracking info, so i'll post an update on here when it comes to let you guys know how it turned out. Hopefully no surprises!!

I work for a cell phone company here in Canada... as long as your data roaming is turned off on your phone and your connected to the resorts wifi (as Shan0487 said) you will be able to use any of the data services on your phone (instant messaging, internet, email, social networking sites) Just make sure you turn off all data settings (the data charges can be crazy!), your cell company should be able to help you with which settings needs to be turned off but on iPhone its usually 2 settings... "data roaming" and "cell data"

I posted this in the Official thread with no response yet, wondering if anyone can help me out with a couple of questions about the resort... I am assuming there are ATM's on site, can anyone tell me where they are? Is room service included in the AI package? What time do the lobby bars stay open until? What time do the bars at the Hacienda stay open until and am I correct in thinking that drinks are included at the Hacienda except the sport's bar? Or is the sports bar the only place to get drinks at the Hacienda? Last question, i promise... Where is the best nightlife at the resort (besides the disco)? All the other AI I have been to have always had live music with people dancing and stuff later at night, where out of the 3 hotels is the best for this? Thanks!!

quote name="claruickie" url="/t/786/gran-bahia-principe-akumal-tulum-coba-post-here/7050#post_1913977"]I've not been on here much of late as 9 weeks ago my darling mum was diagnosed with lung, bowel and brain cancer and sadly she passed away this week. We fly out to Mexico on Monday with very heavy hearts, our holiday and wedding is going to be different however my beautiful spirited dear mum and friend will be in our hearts and I'm sure her presence will be around us on the day. Awe Kirstin, so sorry for your loss As much as it will be hard to not have her there in person, she will be there in spirit. Take care, and I hope you have an amazing wedding!!!

Bridal party-my 2 brothers and one FI sister
lgerry replied to ornxoxo's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
There's a few of us on here who are having a guy stand up for us. I have 2 girls as my co-MOH's and 1 man as my "Man of Honor". The way I look at it is I have been friends with all 3 of these people for 16-20 years and consider them to be my best friends (one is no more important than the other). I think if you want your 2 brothers to stand up for you, they should do just that... stand up for YOU! Maybe have another talk with FI about it, you can even show him this site where there are other girls who are having guys stand up for them. It sounds very nontraditional, and is, but its becoming more and more "normal". I have a friend who has been at 2 weddings over the last couple years where the bride had men on her side of the wedding party. But if he still will not budge on the idea, I do not think you are obligated to have his sister be part of it, especially if you are not really close. If your FI is really against it, then maybe have him be the one that explains it to his sister if she asks? At the end, do what YOU feel is right! -
So I'm just working on my pre-travel brochure and had a couple questions for those who have been to the GBP or who know: I am assuming there are ATM's on site, can anyone tell me where they are? Is room service included in the AI package? What time do the lobby bars stay open until? What time do the bars at the Hacienda stay open until and am I correct in thinking that drinks are included at the Hacienda except the sport's bar? Or is the sports bar the only place to get drinks at the Hacienda? Last question, i promise... Where is the best nightlife at the resort (besides the disco)? All the other AI I have been to have always had live music with people dancing and stuff later at night, where out of the 3 hotels is the best for this? Thanks in advance!!
