So happy to say that we have finally had first contact with Eugenia!! She emailed us last night with forms to complete with info and our restaurant/menu choices... what a relief!! The last email was quite pushy and said I was not happy with the communication! I'm not enjoying wedding planning as I'm not getting anywhere :-( I feel your pain! We weren't getting anywhere either, then we got our TA to email and phone down there and communication has become better now. If you are working with a TA you could try having them contact the WC...

Well, after emails from both my TA as well as reps from Air Transat and a "not so nice" phone call to the resort from my TA yesterday morning, we finally got some answers from Paloma via email last night. This is her reply regarding our concerns over allowing external vendors onto the property: Hola Liz In case you want to bring an external supplier for hair & make up - the regular procedure is to pay a day pass for each person that comes to the Hotel Nowadays the cost of the day pass is of 90 usd - ( this has always been the policy for externalsuppliers like hair & make up) What we cannot acept ( mandatory) - no local external photgraphers are allowed I enclose options & costs for private events Kind regards So, good news that hair/make-up vendors are allowed!! The prices she sent me for the reception details are still 2013 so I'm not sure if they'll try to hike them up for our wedding in Jan, but since it's only 3.5 mths away and she JUST sent these prices. I'm taking these as the prices we will be charged and raise a stink if they try to jack them up on us.

Custom Linen Suits $99!
lgerry replied to FoxyBride's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
Hi! He ordered the Hawaiian beige. I was a little worried about it being too plaid looking but they turned out really nice! A nice neutral fabric that's not too grey or tan. -

I'm giving it another month and If I don't hear from anyone than were going to cancel and go somewhere else causeI would like to start figuing out how much stuff is going to cost cause were in total Limbo! Every bride on here has a different answer! Ugh, i hear ya! We did the same thing, and got our TA to contact the resort. She emailed Paloma to let her know that we were thinking of switching resorts due to frustration with no replies. I understand that the little details often do not get planned until way closer to the date and maybe even not until you get there, but right now we are 3.5 mths away and we have nothing reserved/booked except for our ceremony time (and even that was listed as a tentative time in her confirmation email). Paloma emailed our TA back within the same minute and said that we will be getting a reply asap and copied Eugenia on the email and told her to get in touch with us asap. This was early last week and still nothing from her... Paloma also was like.... oh, i can see you do not have the updated packages so I will attach those for you... so we literally JUST got the up to date package prices last week. Up until then we had no idea what the prices of the packages even were or what they included (except for hearsay on this forum which seems to be different every time). We still have no idea about reception costs. Our TA emailed her contact at the resort again today and If we don;t hear from Eugenia by the end of the week we are going to start looking at different resorts. I will for sure update on here as soon as I hear anything!!

omg really?? That really sucks because I've already paid my deposit for outside hair and makeup. How do they get away with changing the rules so much like this? Our wedding is less than 4 months away and between all changes to rules and the fact that they won't even reply to our emails to start planning, we are very close to talking to our TA about switching resorts

I had booked Frutos Del Mar but apparently somebody has a very serious seafood allergy and wouldn't even be able to dine there. I emailed her almost a month ago and have gotten nothing.... On a really complaining note, if you have a potentially lethal allergy to a food wouldn't you tell somebody who is providing you with a meal!? Gah! Sorry but it really bugged me... Geez... that's too bad, I wish they would at least reply to us already! We've received nothing from them yet and in my emails I say that we just want to know ballpark what this is going to cost us so we can budget a little better, you'd think they could at least send us pricing and choices to think over at this point. And yes, i agree... that's weird they didn't let you know about their allergy long before now!

She said we get 1 app, 1 soup, 1 main, 1 dessert. I didn't understand her wording though and I'm confused a bit. Do we choose one of these and all guests have to eat the same thing, or do we find out from each guest ahead of time what they want to eat for each and send that to her?? What have past brides done? Thanks! That's awesome that you have received a reply! I am wondering if any brides working with Eugenia have heard from her a lot lately?? We are getting married in January and Gina told us to email her in August to start planning, so we did. We have emailed Eugenia 3 times now since the beginning of August with no reply, and now to hear that couples getting married 3 months after us are getting replies makes me nervous We don't even have locations locked down yet, let alone dinner choices!!

What are you walking down the Aisle to?
lgerry replied to reevesbride's topic in Wedding Music & Entertainment
No prob! Its amazing isn't it?! I'm not suprised that I bawled listening to it, lol, but when my FI started to tear up I knew it was "the song". Good luck with the rest of your planning!!! -

I'm using this song to walk down the isle to too! I think it's beautiful and when I showed it to my FI we both broke out into tears!! I'm using this cover version by Boyce Avenue though... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iIj07LL57RA -
Bridesmaid Dresses
lgerry replied to Janelle0308's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
We did long chiffon dresses because it gets really windy on the beach and I didn't want my girls having to deal with their dresses flying over their heads lol. Because the material is light and flowy, I think they will be fine heat-wise for a 1/2 hr. These are ours: -
Brides that had or are having Mariachi Band

Steel drum band?? -
We sent out invites way in advance. We decided to forgo the STD's and just sent our invites out last Feb (I believe) with an RSVP date of Oct 1st. In the invite we put a card with our TA's contact info and we just put the date of our wedding. We also set up a wedding website with our TA contact info on it and included the link to the website in the invite. On the website we included lot's of travel info, including the dates we would be travelling.

The majority of our group lives in Regina, but our TA has also made arrangements for those flying out from Winnipeg and Calgary too. Also, some are doing 1 wk air & land, where others (including us) are doing 2 wks air & 1 wk land, and yet others are doing just 5 days land. So I think they can pretty much do whatever combo your guests want.

Hi! If you're having about 50 guests, I would highly suggest working with a TA!! They really help to keep everyone organized and you don't have to do any of the arranging for your guests (which I predict being a nightmare). The rate we got from our TA was about the same... For example, our rate through TA for the GBP Akumal is $1758 (incl taxes) for 1 week in Jan '14. Expedia does not sell Akumal, but Tulum rates for the same week right now are $1781. So really there is not much price difference, and we get a free trip for every 16th person from Air Transat!! Other carriers offer the same sort of incentive deals when you do group bookings. But honestly, just to relieve the headache of trying to organize 50 people alone, I would recommend a TA. Hope this helps! Liz

I'm just wondering where all you ladies got these quotes from? Are these from your own private coordinator or travel agent, or have you received quotes via email from the WC at the resort? Because our wedding is before yours (Jan '14) and Eugenia hasn't given us any pricing yet, as the last time we talked to her she said she didn't have the updated pricing for 2014 yet.... Just curious

How do I get my Welcome Bag items to Mexico?!
lgerry replied to happy bride2013's topic in Newbies!!
Do they total more than $300 EACH? Because as far as I know (someone correct me if I am wrong) the limit is $300 per person, so that would mean that both you and your FI would have $300 allowed... $600 total... -
Custom Linen Suits $99!
lgerry replied to FoxyBride's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
Awesome!! Great day for a wedding! lol, oh boy, I know what you mean... I should have listened to them when they emailed me saying "the shoulders seem to big" Jay's jacket looks like a space suit right now, haha, but nothing a little tailoring can't fix! We didn't add any extra inches, but if a measurement came to, for example 34.25"... we would just round it up to 35". -
Custom Linen Suits $99!
lgerry replied to FoxyBride's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
Just want to post a mini review.... We received our suits and pants from studio suits a couple weeks ago. My FI suit fits great except for the shoulders (I think I measured wrong), and my Step-dad's suit and all the guys pants in the wedding party also fits perfectly!! We ordered June 5th and received them a couple of weeks ago. They were great to work with and emailed us a couple of times re: measurements that they thought might be off (including my FI shoulder measurements, which I kept the same and should have listened, lol ). Any questions, just ask!
