We ordered the Tropical Linen (which is part cotton) and the irish pure linen (100%)... they also sent the Hawaiian line of part linen swatches as well. All in all they sent 29 swatches. I think we are going with one of the Hawaiian blended linen ones as they have nice colors and i think that the part cotton aspect might help prevent a lot of wrinkling.

Custom Linen Suits $99!
lgerry replied to FoxyBride's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
We ordered our swatches a month ago or so. If you order a particular type of fabric swatch, they send you all the colors that come in that fabric. Hope this helps! -
Congrats TealMarie!!! I would also suggest a travel agent. You can sometimes get some great perks, such as every __ person free, and best of all you don't have to be the travel planner for all your guests! When we were looking at whether to use a TA or not I talked to a couple companies directly to see how getting a group rate would work. Some only give group rates for the rooms and I know westjetvacations makes you call for every guest question or payment, etc!!! That was a big deal breaker since I did not want to have to get on the horn to the travel company every time a guest wanted to know something or wanted to put a payment down. As for resorts, I'm not too sure what other resorts have both an adults only and a kids section, but we are also getting married at the bahia principe akumal resort and they have 4 resorts on one property, including one that is adults only (Sian ka'an) but it is a little ways inland on the other side of the highway... still connected to the rest of the resort though. I think a lot of the resorts offer some sort of adults section now though, with an adults only pool, etc. Good luck with choosing your resort!!

Dollar Tree Finds
lgerry replied to nbateman's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
We bought our tumblers from Dollar Tree... we have friends in Minnesota right now for the holidays so we just ordered them online and got them to pick them up! So excited to get them!!! )) -
I could be totally off base here, but i think that anything that is shipped from the US, but is made outside of the US, you have to pay duty on. I just ordered my dress from a shop in Boston, MA, and all I had to pay was the taxes on it because the designer manufactures their dresses in the US. That saved me sooooooooooo much $$... Yay!!

How come there is no recent reviews?!
lgerry replied to Loreal30's topic in Destination Weddings in Jamaica
I agree... i look every week for new reviews on our resort but there are rarely any new ones -
Ok, thanks guys! I emailed Paloma one last time at the groupsmx email, my email account has been messed up the last couple weeks so I sent one last one with my hubby-to-be's email address in case they get a bounce-back. Hopefully we hear from her soon just to confirm the date... we really want to order and send out our invites. Ya, we have a travel agent but she just handles the travel stuff... no wedding details.

Hey all, We have emailed the [email protected] email a few times over the last month, trying to get an answer on whether the akumal resort has availability during our booked stay in Jan '14 but have still not heard back. I'm wondering if anyone can tell me who the coordinator is for the Akumal resort (Eugina?) and if it is ok to email her directly to book the date? We really want to get our invites ordered and send them out ASAP, as we have decided not to send out STD's. Thanks for the help! And Merry Christmas to everyone!!! Liz

It really depends on your guest count and what the different resorts offer for packages too. I would suggest coming up with a few resorts you like and within your budget for travel costs, and then do some research on what their wedding packages include... especially how many guests are included. We had about 3 resorts picked out, and after researching we discovered thst 2 of the 3 would be way too costly for us becsuse they only included up to around 15 guests in the packages we were looking at. If we wanted to have the 40-50 guests that we estimate are coming, we would have to pay $100/person to have a private dinner intead of the included a la carte dinner. Our budget is around $10k and so far we are on track with that, and I dont feel like we are sacrificing much. I even splurged a bit on my gown and thst includes our extra week for our honeymoon!

So in my excitement to start wedding buying, I purchased 16 Tylenol PM and 42 Advil pks off another BDW bride without asking what the expiry dates were, lol! So I now have to re-sell them as our wedding is after they expire. 16 x Tylenol PM: exp 07/13 42 x Advil: exp 05/13 I just want to re-coup what I spent on them, so I am asking $20 + shipping for all of them. PM me if you are interested!! Thanks! Liz

I don't think that's rude at all. I would think that with a destination so far away that guests should know if they are coming or not 5 mths out. We are getting married in Mexico and opted not to send save the dates, and instead just send out our formal invites with a link to our website 1 year in advance. Our RSVP date is going to be Oct 1/13 for a Jan '14 wedding date... so that's about 3.5 mths. And we were even contemplating making the RSVP date Sept 1! Liz

Thanks Tlseege!! Just a quick question for all you past brides... we booked with Transat Holidays, and our travel agent said the the flight schedules don't come out for a few more months so the dates could change by up to 2 or 3 days. If we reserve a date with the resort, are they pretty accommodating if you have to move the actual wedding date due to a change in flight departure? The date that we requested to hold with the resort is the 14th of Jan, but if the flights don't end up leaving until the 13th or something, would they change the wedding date for us? Thanks! Liz

We are also getting married in January 2014. We were originally going to send save the dates first and then the invites a few months later, but we also decided to just send out invites. We are sending ours out in January 2013 with a RSVP date of October 1st (final payments are due 60 days prior - so a month later). We are just going to put everything else on our website, including when to have deposits in by and the fact that the date is tentative until flight schedules come out.

Hi Calgary Brides!! We are coming to Calgary next weekend (the 20th) and looking for these turquoise/metallic candle holders. I've only been able to find a couple here in Regina and need alot more for our reception. If any of you are in a Dollarama in the next week or so and spot these, could you let me know? Thanks!!!
