Alteration-1/2 Cost Of My Dress!
lgerry replied to cmingalone's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
My dress is top to bottom lace (Jim Hjelm 8011) and I paid about $450 for everything (taking in sides from bust to hips, raising the straps, shortening hemline, adding bustle). Shortening the hem was the most pricey due to the lace. $900 seems very high!! -
I forget Trisha, are you from the US or Canada? Cause Eugenia said they charge us in USD for cash or they convert the US to pesos if you use credit card. So I'm just wondering if it would be cheaper to pay by card and just have it charged in pesos rather than having to exchange into US which is a poorer conversion for canadians at the banks (ie. I get less than a dollar US for every dollar CAN I exchange, whereas I get ~ 12peso for every CAD)... If that makes any sense lol! Sent from my SGH-I747M using Tapatalk

Do any past Canadian brides have any feedback on how you paid for everything? I know you pay for everything at the end, but we are trying to decide on whether to pay by credit card or to bring down cash. Taking $3k + cash down to Mexico (esp leaving it in our room safe for en entire week) makes me nervous, but Eugenia has told us that the exchange rate the hotel gives us if we pay by credit card in Pesos is not the greatest and is better if we pay in cash. This makes sense if we were coming from the US and all our currency was in USD already, but coming from Canada we have to exchange either way. Any thoughts...

We are using Marvin with Maya floral as well. We get married next month so I can't report on the final product yet, but his communication has been stellar and the pics he sent me of the arrangements are beautiful and just what we want! Prices are also really decent Sent from my SGH-I747M using Tapatalk

Here are a couple of photos from my photographer that I have received so far. Let me know if I can help with any questions about the resort. There was a chance of rain later on in the afternoon, so our poolside reception was moved indoors to the Plan B location at Sian K'an. No regrets. We had just as much fun and the space was gorgeous! Beautiful photos! Congratulations!!!!

My wedding is August 4! - so I know it will be super hot!!! Mine is top to bottom lace. I thought it would be cooler cause it's not all that heavy, but when I went in for my first fitting a couple of weeks ago I was already sweating in it! Oh well, I love it so it's worth it!! I think that you should pick a dress that you love no matter what the material is!!

I emailed her back to clarify a few things cause most of her responses didn't really answer any of my questions... they were all really vague, lol! Still no details confirmed, so we wait some more Hopefully you hear something soon!!

Now we are at the part where we need to get our music, vows, etc. figured out. Also, I'm looking into hiring a hairdresser and makeup artist, has anyone else found someone they would recommend? Happy planning everyone! Hi! I'm using Sara Tamargo http://saratamargo.com/ Her work looks amazing and she was really reasonably priced... She got back to me very quickly with info too! -
Just wondering if any past brides/grooms have used the hanging paper lanterns at their poolside reception. I got an email from Linda, Palomas assistant, with some answers to some questions and she said that they are not allowed. That's kinda strange since they just have an LED light in them and no open flame... maybe she thinks I was talking about the sky lanterns that you set off into the air??

The hacienda was nice also. Thanks ladies!!
