Punta Cana Photographers?
AR-DreamWedding replied to smrstars's topic in Destination Weddings in Dominican Republic
This is my review that I posted on Photo Souvenir. I can't say enough good things about them. Let me start by saying I am beyond grateful for every moment that was shared with Renaud, as it is because of him that I will forever be able to look back at our wedding and re-live each moment time and time again! My husband and I had the pleasure of working with Renaud for our July 15th, 2013 wedding at The Jellyfish. He is not only humbling to work with but managed to seamlessly catch every significant moment, and then some. After speaking with him, when we arrived in Punta Cana, I knew immediately that we had made the right choice. Renaud is very personable and attentive. He began with taking shots of myself and my bridesmaids getting ready, at our hotel (The Majestic Colonial) where he worked amongst a bunch of excited and overemotional women… that alone is a feat in itself J From there he met us at The Jellyfish where he caught our most meaningful moments: the touching first look with my father, our breath-taking ceremony, and our wonderful reception. He missed nothing ! He was hardly seen yet he caught everything. When the time came for directions to be given (i.e. large group shot, pictures with the bridal party, etc) Renaud was able to guide all 70 of our guests and our bridal party together to capture striking shots. The following day we did a Trash the Dress session and I can tell you that I have NEVER felt so beautiful! It was a wonderful bonding experience for my husband and I (and yes my dress is just fine J). Renaud was delightful to spend time with and did a brilliant job with our pictures. If there is anything that I can leave you with let it be this: Your pictures are all you have once the moment has passed and more than anything else you want someone who feels the way your do about your day, to capture every little detail; Though Renaud’s lenses I can see that he understood all of our overwhelming emotions because there is not a picture that I would trade for all the money in the world. Thank you Photo Souvenir. Thank you Renaud for being the wonderful you that you are. Wishing all of you happy couples many years of endless love. -
I had read this once too when I had started all my planning last year so I emailed the resort about it and found out that that was not true. I have never read this happening to anyone else except that one post that I think was from 2007. Not to worry it's false anyway BUT if you want to be reassured I suggest you email your wedding co-ordinator and get an answer in writing so that you can have it with you when you go. Happy Planning

I would not worry too much. We are getting married in a month and in January we only had 20 people.... right up until last week we had two more guests. We are now at 69!!! I can't tell you how unprepared we were to cater to so many people. Give it a little more time. Make arrangements for a small gathering but make sure you have some wiggle room in case you have a bunch of last minute people like we did.

Hey Past and Present Brides! I need some help with pricing. I am wondering if anyone who is staying at the Majestic Resorts has, or is planning on having, a photographer and stylist come to the resort prior to leaving for the Jellyfish and what the vendor cost is (seeing as neither of them are staying there longer than 2-3 hours and we are not getting married on their property)? Any help would be greatly appreciated Rachel -

Hey Kimberlyraem4, I am much like you with the crazy hair thing. I have very curly hair and it's thick!!! I am using Anna Nuet who will be living in the DR come the end of June 2013. You can check out her facebook using her name or her website http://annanuet.wix.com/annanuethair She is really good at getting back to people quickly. She has an amazing repetoire from what I can see and I am really excited to have her do my hair and make-up. Happy Planning! -

Hey Jmonty25, I am getting married on July 13th so just a few days before you! Yahoooo! As for a photographer, we have chosen PhotoSouvenir. We wanted Phil Steingard but he was not avail for our date.... I think he may be there for you yours though. Look into it. As for hair and make-up, I am 100% going with Anna Nuet. She is originally from Spain and moved to NYC. Her work is incredible. You can find her on facebook and her professional blog is http://annanuet.wix.com/annanuethair#..... She is well priced and will meet with you on Skype if you don't live in NYC. What I like best is that she appears to be able to do what the bride wants and is not as limited as some of the other hair/make-up people I have looked into. Hope this helps! Happy planning -

I know exactly how you feel and I know it's not fun at all. In the end I did not get the day I wanted but instead got the day before and to be honest it was just fine. When we are in the DR everyday is a weekend! The resorts are quite flexible so if you had to change you time at the resort (provided you are having your ceremony there) they are usually really accomodating. Are you trying to book a date for next year? And have you started booking anything or sent out any invites? Whatever you do don't panic. Our wedding plans fell apart when La Barcaza changed ownership and messed us over for the $1200 deposit that we made. So in January, with only 6 months left to replan our entire wedding, we managed to do it And the worst part was that all of our guests (60 of them) were already booked and paid, our invites were long gone, and I had no wedding venue! In the end our wedding date changed but no one really cares once they have booked. Just email her again and wait it out -

Hey Ladies, Does anyone know if Mayte does the place cards (the little cards that tell everyone where they are sitting) or do we do them ourselves and she lays them out? Looking at some of the photos from the Jellyfish website I noticed that some of the place cards were really fancy and I wasn't sure who did them. -

Hey Ladies, I haven't spent much time thinking about my hair and make-up but with the wedding quickly approaching the time has come. We are staying at the Majestic Colonial the week of July 13-20th and our wedding is on the 15th. My original plan was to just let the people at the resort do my hair and I would do my own makeup but after some thought I am wondering if I shouldn't just hire someone. So with that said I am hoping that you wonderful ladies could help to guide me by sharing your ideas, who you are using and whether hiring someone is an expensive venture. I will be the only one in my wedding party getting my hair and make-up done so I have a ton of flexibility. Can't wait to hear from all of you -

Sorry for the super delay (this week has been a bit nutty), but thank you so much for replying to my message. My email is [email protected] ... I am still nervous about the upcoming invoice and know that Mayte will probably not be able to give me a tentative invoice until June, which I know will not be enough time for me to get things together if I am too far off. I appreciate your help sooooooo much. -

I'm pretty sure that you have to find someone yourself. We are using Pastor York for our symbolic wedding and from what I have been reading from the other brides here, there is another Pastor who has been refered by Pator York as well. I am sorry that I don't know his name off hand. If anything, you can ask Mayte for a list of available officiates. -

Out wedding is in July 2013 and I was wondering if any past brides would mind sharing their total cost as I am trying to figure out what the approximate cost will be for 60 guests. I am a bit worried because I am not sure if I am even remotely close to the mark and it's crunch time with the finances. I used the 2013 price list to gauge what it would be but because I don't know exactly what the time line will look like I am a bit lost on how to gauge the bar, dinner, and dancing. We're having our ceremony at 5pm there, and have chosen to have the fire dancers, house DJ, and LED dance floor. We were also going to have the preset lobster dinner with apps when people arrive. Any help would be super duper appreciated -

Thank you ladies for all of your wonderful ideas We have finally decided (I think) on giving people personalized travel mugs. I figure they are not only useful down there to keep the drinks cold but will be just as great to have at home to keep coffee/tea warm. We are having over 50 guests so it makes it a lot cheaper to purchase and is not breaking the bank. We also got fans for the wedding ceremony... you can get nice silk fans (cheap) at Michael's Crafts stores especially if you use their 50% off coupon that they constantly give out. However, because we have not officially purchased anything, I am still open to ideas. Wishing you all Happy Planning! -
New tax making DR's expensive

Thanks for posting this. I am not sure that it is well known that the DR has implemented this. We have chosen to switch to a Symbolic Wedding as well. -

Mufin1785, did you manage to speak with Daniel? How are you feeling today? I hope that he managed to provide you with everything you had previously agreed on. Although, we have already given them over $1100USD as a deposit in November 2012, we are considering counting it as a loss and moving on.... as you can imagine, I have spent my entire evening crying over this Curious to know what Daniel said. Feel free to share as I have not cancelled officially yet with them. Warmest Regards, AR
