She just knew where to put them and made everything look magical! Smart move! But like so many others, most of our families are not computer literate lol so sadly we had to take the hit and spend the money on actual invites. Thanks for the compliments... I have to admit I was a little in love with my invites I can totally understand the time consuming part but when you are done, you will feel so amazing! -
Unique Wedding Invites

UNIQUE DESTINATION WEDDING INVITES... cont'd Note: I did find out how to make the invites myself via a DIY website but unfortunately I am not crafty and nor did I have the time to spend... I had plenty on my plate during the planning period including working full-time like most others and really did not want the additional stress. Below is the Youtube video of the original designer and what her invites look like... mine are almost identical but with some personal touches: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1gywbRUWrRQ&feature=related In addition, Krista Schnieder (the artist who did mine) is an artist by trade and is very capable of doing whatever you want. She saved me tons of time and stress. I strongly recommend her. Happy Planning! AR-DreamWedding -

Any advise would be great! Thank you!! I travelled with $12000USD, which was split up between my fiance and mother, and there was no issue. You cannot travel with more than $10,000 on your person but confirm this with your travel laws or travel agent as it may depend on the country you live in. Once you arrive in the DR you can put it in your safe until your pre-wedding meeting with Mayte where you will be able to get rid of it. If it makes you feel safer have your fiancé or parents keep part of the money in their safe so that all the money is not kept in one place. The other thing that I did was separate the money into labelled envelopes so that it would be easier for me to divide it when needed (Note that if you do not put a tip in a separate envelope addressed specifically for Mayte then she will not keep any money you gave as a gratuity for her and is obliged to share it with the staff.... just in case you planned on tipping her something that is just for her). Oh, and I always kept the money on my person's when travelling in the airport/plane. Hope this helps -

Or are they cheaper? 3) Any food suggestions? 1) If do not go with the dance floor on the beach there is definitely room inside to dance. We had 70 people and there was ample room inside. 2) The kids are charged $15USD for unlimited juice/water/soda 3) For apps I would strongly recommend that you include Mofonguito- fried plantain stuffed with advocado (it is something native to the DR which guests will really enjoy) and the Seafood Ceviche (it's presentation in the shot glass is awesome and it is very tasty.... it too is another popular dish in most Spanish speaking countries). As for dinner recommendations, I loved everything on Menu IV... the risotto is to die for! But you can just about choose any of the menu options and everything tastes great. I live in Toronto and I can tell you with certainty that the food there is comparable to food found in many of the fine dining restaurants downtown. REALLY GOOD! Happy Planning -

Thanks Jellyfish Feb 2014 Mayte will offer you a choice from 5 different cocktails to have as your signature drink and from them you can choose 2. I am fairly sure that you can request something else at no additional cost so long as it is not something that they do not have (note that they do have quite an extensive bar that is very comparable to anything that you would find in a bar back home) ... otherwise I am guessing you will have to pay an additional fee for them to get the alcohol. However, if I were you I would wait until your meeting the day before your wedding and taste the drinks she offers because they are great and very good in terms of meeting everyone's taste. As for bringing a bottle of your own for shots, I am not sure about that. Check out their drink menu first to see if they have it or if they have something comparable. -

It rains almost every day in the DR but mainly late at night in the winter or very early in the morning during the summer. Whenever it does rain outside of those times, it is usually very brief. It rained very lightly for about 10 mins during the fire-show at my wedding but the fire-show went on and no one was really bothered by the super light rain. Those that were bothered went under the Jellyfish tarp but were still able to see everything. Don't worry hun the odds are that it will most likely not rain! Happy Planning -

I have no idea what kind of options we have for flowers. Help please Thanks! Hey Hannah07, it really does depend on what kind. For example, Orchids are $US per flower.... not per stem, per actual flower on each stem! But there are many other flowers that don't cost quite as much and look just as beautiful. It also depends on the quantity of flowers that you want. I had many real flowers throughout my wedding that were beautiful and it did not cost much more than what is quoted in the décor price but I was not picky about the type of flower because I knew from looking at Mayte's work that everything she does is beautiful. Unless you are super picky about that stuff I wouldn't spend too much time looking at flowers (unless it's for your bouquet) rather I would send Mayte your inspiration pics and let her do the rest to make your dream come true. -
