  1. I think you can do whatever works for you. I'd say traditionally you would pay, but if that's not an option and it's something you really want to do, explore your options!
  2. We'll have a lot of people traveling with us too. I also wanted to have a day of prep but oh well! I guess one of the few up sides to not being at an AI is that we're leaving and going to a different hotel after the wedding. We'll still see people for brunch the next day, but after that, it's a week of honeymoon even if people are staying on the island.
  3. I have our medicine kits assembled already, but the only "liquid" is a travel sized aloe, and that's thick enough that I'm not worried about explosions. The rest of the back shouldn't be *too* much of an assembly project, although I know it will take longer than I think. My plan upon arrival: - go to grocery store (across the street from our hotel), buy water and popcorn/other snacks - go pick up rum cakes (also going in bags, also across the street) - go back to hotel and ask my family to help me assemble - there will be enough of us that I think we can knock it out pretty quickly. - deliver late afternoon to people at pool/beach/in their villas to people who are already there, and give the rest to the hotel to deliver as people check in. We're staying in 3 bedroom villas, so one stop covers a lot of people. For people staying off property, we'll either make a special delivery or just give them out at our Friday welcome happy hour. There aren't that many loose items to add since the medicine kits are done - koozies, playing cards, schedule of events, rum cakes, photo share card, key holders, and whatever snacks we end up with. One person can be in charge of snacks, one in charge of paper (maybe also attaching the card that has the name of who is getting the bag?), one in charge of koozies...you get the idea. Wow. I can't believe I just thought/talked about OOT bag assembly that extensively. Is there a way you can assemble everything except the liquid so you just have to toss those in?
  4. I'm not sure - I think a small gift is common but I don't think you have to. I put FI in charge of ring bearer gifts because they're his cousins and I have zero ideas. I also got the flower girl and ring bearers t shirts from vistaprint - you could just do something like that? And I'll put some extra stuff in their welcome bags, too. I think maybe the t shirt idea is a good one - it will say flower girl/ ring bearer so it won't feel like you're leaving the other kids out by just getting a general gift that way maybe?
  5. Ordered the shell from seller mygann on ebay ($30 including shipping) and just hot glued the ribbon on. Similar ones sell for $70 with shipping on etsy so I'm pretty happy!
  6. I posted my template above - I think I did a custom label and played with the dimensions. If you just download my template and put your own design in there it should work! Let me know if you have trouble. I printed a couple of test pages on plain paper and lined it up with my labels to make sure it would be right without wasting any labels. Good luck!
  7. Just out of curiosity, how are you timing things so that you still get cake cutting, first dance, toasts photographed if your photographer is leaving before dinner? I'm trying to figure out a smooth way to make that work too. Are you just doing all of those things at the very beginning of the reception?
  8. I've read a few different things, but the consensus seems to be anyone who will be with you at that time, or who is working for a long time. So photographer - they are there and are probably also spending most of the day with you. Band/DJ. Coordinator if yours is staying (I think mine is). That's probably all we're feeding.
  9. Ok LUCA came back to me already. They said we can just offer them the main course, which would be about $30 per person - I can deal with that. But I'm still wondering what people are doing about seating the vendors.
  10. So I asked the venue for options. They said a lot of people just offer the main course, which for us would be about $30 per person. I can handle that. But I'm still wondering what people do about seating. Seems to awkward to me.
  11. Any past LUCA brides have advice on vendor meals? I didn't really realize we were supposed to feed the vendors until I googled it. I'm worried about having enough space for them to sit with guests, and the cost of dinner is going to add up quickly if we feed them the same meals as our guests. Anyone have tips or want to share how they are handling?
  12. Hi ladies, I did a quick search but the threads I found are old and scattered on a bunch of different boards. Just wondering what people are doing about this. Honestly I hadn't even considered it until today, and I googled it - I was surprised to find that it is apparently expected that you feed your photographers, DJ/band, coordinator, etc. Um. So far I love all the vendors I'm working with, but we are spending a LOT of money on them and I'm a little surprised that we're supposed to tack an $80+ dinner on top of the fees and tips we're paying them! We're not at an all inclusive. I've read that some venues provide a "vendor meal" option, which is different/cheaper food, or they offer the same meal you are serving guests at a reduced rate. Apparently some places also have a separate room so the vendors don't have to sit with the guests. (If I were them I probably wouldn't want to sit with the guests and vice versa.) I'm inquiring about this with my venue but it doesn't seem like the kind of place that will have another place for them to sit, and we can't very well have them eating cheeseburgers while sitting amongst the guests who are eating surf and turf. Haha. So...what's everyone doing?
  13. I ordered robes from this seller http://www.etsy.com/listing/118844011/bridesmaid-silk-satin-kimono-robe? but slightly different. Dark blue, monogram in different font, but you get the idea. They should be here in a couple of weeks - I can't wait to see them. They were about $50 each, including monogramming and shipping, and are custom made. I only have my sister as MOH, and my niece as flower girl, to buy for. I bought the robes for myself and my sister in dark blue, and got my little niece a pink one but they all have the same trim. I think it will make for some nice pictures for getting ready. I'm also making them barefoot jewelry and buying their jewelry for the wedding.
  14. hahaha awesome - i would send a little thank you, i always think people appreciate the gesture. i'd probably just put something cute instead of describing the gift - like thank you so much for the gift - i know we will enjoy it! something like that?
  15. I think if you do something like a paper gift bag (or even a reusable one from Oriental Trading or something) and just did a limited amount of medicine, snacks, etc, you can do them for a LOT less. The most expensive items in my bags, other than the bags themselves at around $5 each, were rum cakes - those are $2 each and I'm buying one per person. So for a couple, that added $4. The little medicine bags I put together (I don't have pics with me, but will post some soon) had advil (2 packets), tylenol (2 packets), band aids (4-5), kleenex (1 pack), pepto (2 packets), tums (one small roll), hand sanitizer wipes (3 per bag), breath savers, off brand neosporin 2 packets), shout wipes (2), and aloe (1), personalized chapstick (1 per person) and they are in a little zippered bag. Those, total, came out to just over $6 each. If you just did EITHER tylenol or advil, and cut out the tums, that would make them $4.70 each. Sorry this ended up being long, but I'm saying you can definitely do it for less! I also included things like personalized koozies, the rum cakes, key holders, etc, that made them a little more. You have lots of options!
  16. I've found that the Gatorade packets are pretty pricey! What about crystal light on the go packs? Much cheaper.
  17. I'm planning to print my labels ahead of time but buy and label the water there. For the rest of the contents, I'm packing them.
  18. I ordered these and paid .78 per deck including shipping (I ordered a while back, they were having a sale). Now they are 1.18 each for 36 and get cheaper from there. http://www.pricewisefavors.com/personalized-expressions-playing-card-favors-p-875.html Cheaper than buying a random deck at wal mart! Quality is fine.
  19. I sewed my OOT bags myself (they came out to about $5 each), and price shopped all the contents like crazy. Mine are going to end up being around $22-$25 each depending on how much I spend on snacks to include once I get there. So About $1100 total (before buying snacks there), but I'll have 50 bags and a decent amount of stuff in them. That includes the price of the bag itself.
