Has anyone had issues with planning their decor/options through Perla? My wedding is just a month away and we still haven't been able to finalize my invoice because they keep getting the items wrong - it is so frustrating! And then they told me I need to overnight a Cashier's Check to pay the balance...grrr! Anyone else have issues?

When I asked about the Gazebo (we want to have our reception there) they said that it may be available depending on if anyone else is using that space. I'm going to try to get confirmation on this tomorrow, but I think they will say that they won't know if it is available until very close to the date (Feb 23)

Jenna, Thanks for the reminder! Totally forgot to include that little detail! Basically we were doing our tour with Myrna from the Romance office and when we walked to the bridge we noticed a SIGN at the end of the bridge in the sand (about 8 feet from the edge of the bridge) that essentially is just showing that La Perla is in one direction and Esmerelda in the other. It definitely would show in pics, which we didnt want, so we asked her about it. She said it's new and it wasn't there the day before, but that they would find some may to make sure it didn't show. We kind of messed with it to see if it would be removable and I don't think it is, but I guess they'll have to cover it or something, I'm not sure. It was kind of a bummer, but not the end of the world I guess. Here's a pic: Also, see the wood on the bridge, your heels (if you are wearing them) can get stuck in between the boards! Of course I think most of us will have runner so not the biggest risk or taking a tumble walking down the aisle, but if you walk off the runner you need to be careful! I got my heel stuck on the way to dinner on another part or the boardwalk and it was NOT fun! So just be aware of that. Other than that, things are good. We're going to do our welcome dinner at one of the restaurants (either Mole or Bana we think) and I finally got my dress! Hope everyone's having a fun time planning! -Anisha

Hi Ladies! I'm back - sorry I was MIA for a while since I got back from La Perla. I took a video from my phone of the beach area where they set up the weddings for you guys - PM me your email if you want it and I'll send your way. Overall thoughts of the resort: Rooms are amazing - really nice, clean, modern and spacious. We stayed in Royal Service which was a nice little upgrade. Food is really great - we are foodies and we thought overall the food was superb. We also ate at the paid restaurant Passion - we did the tasting menu and it was really something special - we really enjoyed it. Service - everyone is super friendly and helpful Grounds - could be better. The property is new so not everything has had all the time to become as lush as i have seen on other properties. It's still pretty, just needs more time to fill out. Beach - to be honest, I thought the beach was pretty lame. It's very narrow (not a lot of sand between the start of it to the ocean, and there was a lot of seaweed. The water was very pretty, but the beach was kinda meh. I laid out there one day for a nap for a couple hours but didn't go into the water. There is food and drink service on the beach which is good. Also there are public beaches on both sides of the resort beach area which causes some noise if you're trying to get some R&R. Pools- really nice overall Not sure what else to share but feel free to ask me questions - I just got back a couple weeks ago so it is fresh on my mind. -A

Hi ladies: I originally wanted to have my wedding on the beach but then saw the GABI bridge and fell in love with it! If you guys want me to take some pics of the beach when I am there next month, I'd be happy to do so - maybe that would give you a good idea of how large it is. I know there have been weddings on the beach there and I don't think it is so small that it has been an issue. If that is what you really want I'm sure you can make it work! In other news, I've noticed the hotel rates have SKYROCKETED for my dates and I'm super-worried about it! We haven't even booked our stay for the wedding yet, and we have to do it first before any of our guests, so I'm pretty nervous. Hopefully they will come down some in the next few months - I can't believe how much they have jumped. Has anyone else run into this issue at all that might be able to lend some advice? ~A

Hi Ladies! So happy to hear about all the Paradisus brides! We have booked Feb 23, 2013 for a very small, intimate wedding of about 20 people! I'm super excited, but nervous as well, since there is so much planning to be done, and not a lot of time to do it. My fiance and I will be doing the Love at First Site visit next month, Sep 21-24, so we are excited about that. We are doing the Chill out Chic package because we want to keep it casual. Our ceremony will be on the Gabi bridge and we haven't yet decided on the reception location. As far as photographer, I really want to splurge and go with del Sol, but the resort policy is so unreasonable! I'm trying to work it out though. Other than that, we are just really trying to get everyone booked and hoping to get the details ironed out over the next several months. So glad to see all you ladies on here, hope we can keep the conversation going! ~Anisha

Hi ladies! I'm just about to send over my paperwork to book at La Perla as well for Feb 22nd. I was always dead set on having the ceremony on the beach, but now I'm leaning toward the bridge, since there is still a view of the beach and we can always go take pics on the beach afterwards. Have either of you gone for a site visit? I don't think we are going to be able to, but I really want to. I'm still in the very early stages of planning, even though it's not too far away but am trying to lock down all my details in the next several weeks. We're going to have a very small wedding so I'm thinking the whole process will be pretty simple. Congrats to you both, and let me know how it's going! -Anisha
