  1. @deniden THANK YOU!! This is awesome! Your pics look great! FI suit fits perfect in his sleeves too. Great post and great info! Very helpful. Thanks to all of the ladies who've posted. Much appreciated
  2. Found it at American Apparel. Thanks Ladies! I saw a couple dresses with possible BM potential or rehearsal dinner potential on modcloth too. Never knew about them and I"m an online shopaholic so THNX!!
  3. Saw some great ties in Winners today. I forget the brand - Ben Sherman maybe. But they had great colours and they came in boxes for $20. Also on sat I was in Mexx and saw some nice ties for $19.99 and $14.99....they had an addtl 60% off that price. I saw fuschia, don't remember coral but I'm sure ea location is different.
  4. Random questions ladies: I need to buy a chunky infinity scarf for my niece for xmas. Does anyone know a good online vendor where I can get this?? I don't want to spend $100+ which is what I saw them online for at Banana Republic. And the ones at gap and old navy were too thin. If you've seen any anywhere please let me know. Thanks.
  5. Wasn't going to use bubbles because I swore if they touched my hair it would frizz. Hahaha! But then when I saw them on sale I figured it's a cute way to add another element to the ceremony. @jreist sorry you had a tough night...and thanks for the heads up.
  6. FYI if anyone is using bubbles for their ceremony, Michaels has them on sale this week. The nice long cylinder tube with a hook on the top so you can add bow or whatever. The pkg of 100 is $21.99. I bought the pink ones which were in a pkg of 36 for $14.99. Used a 50% off coupon and got 2 pks.
  7. Ok so fyi, I am now also considering another co I was referred to by a JA photographer for video. They are called Dvsjamaica. They're less expensive than Elite and I'll make the decision on them once I book my photographer. If I book the pricier photo pkg I'll use dvs. If not, I'll use elite. Lol...this is how I negotiate the essentials inside my head.
  8. Awwww...the suits look great!! Did you add the lining to them? Or just go with the basic suit! Thanks so much for posting!!
  9. Love these! They look real too! So many creative ppl out there, I swear. Well I'm using fake orchids for my centrepieces so I will either go with silks, paper or none. If you find the Canadian Brides forum, you can see the centrepieces that I made for a total cost of about $5 ea. LOL. Budget Bride! Diva on a Dime! Call it what you like, I'm trying to stick to my budget.
  10. Sorry...I didn't realize you're in the states :-( It also didn't register that your wedding is in Punta Cana. I do always seem to see last min deals to the Dominican, so you may be ok. I don't know why JA is so expensive if you wait til the last minute. You may have luck. Check Expedia and Cheap-o-air. They usually have good deals too. Goodluck!
  11. & PS...secrets is beautiful! I was actually going to do my entire ceremony and reception next door at the SeaWind Club. They were going to put a bridge over the pool for me to walk over to meet the groom. I still regret not choosing them sometimes. You have commitment issues with your dress...mine was with the venue.
  12. @alexis who is doing your cake in JA? I have yet to find anyone for mine. Any help is appreciated. Does the hotel take care of it for you? Perhaps you can just mention it to them that you know a bride looking for a good cake maker.
  13. FYI, I know a couple that got married away and then returned and did an at home reception. The bride wore her dress etc and one of her friends actually performed the ceremony so they could repeat the vows and kiss the bride. It was beautiful! Best of both worlds too! You get your destination wedding and then you can still have your loved ones there for a second ceremony.
  14. Very true. I guess I'm just worried it'll be odd if we don't cut a cake. Or like if that will cause some plague to fall on our marriage if we skip tradition. Ok, I guess I'm just being silly now.
  15. I do love cookies. Hahahahah! We could break the cookie and feed it to ea other. Then ppl would think we're really just nuts. But that's more our style. Although FI is such a healthy eater he'd prob prefer we break a stick of celery. Ugh!
  16. Did you do the lining on the suit? Is it needed? It may be dependant on the suit colour but can you see through it? I don't want to be showing the GM briefs underneath.
  17. I'd love to see some recent pics of the studio suits if anyone is able to post. Thanks. I'm soooo nervous to order for some reason.
  18. If it's anything like JA, I'd suggest you book it now before your outta luck. If your guests book with itravel2000, they have a price guarantee so that if it goes down you're guaranteed to get a reimbursement chq in the mail up to $200. that gives a bit of peace of mind.
  19. Many venues offer a webcam service for the wedding. Perhaps you can see if yours can do a 2-way service and skype your original MOH in so that she doesn't miss out on anything. As for the Man of Honour - what about a Man of Honour T-shirt? You can do it with Iron on letters or see if you can find a cool airbrush artist to do it in a crafty way. You could give him a massage on the beach or do something cool like an excursion together. Everyone can go and you can pay for his only. A big bottle of alcohol or check out on etsy. Even if the wedding isn't formal, cufflinks are still pretty cool. He doesn't have to use it for the wedding. He'd probably prefer something that he can use afterwards anyways.
  20. These are beautiful! Are you using fresh or silk flowers? Can I ask who your florist is and if you're being charged an arm and leg for this? All the fresh flowers I've wanted are supposed imports to JA and triple the price if not more. I am seriously considering using silks or dashing away the idea of flowers altogether...altho that will make some fam members FREAK out. LOL! I'm sort of beyond caring anymore.
  21. That's very cool!! Love the Man of Honour! Yes, I agree...if we don't eat cake, why serve it? There will be plenty of cake options available at dessert anyways. Maybe cupcakes would be a nice touch. I still need to think this over a bit more. Thanks for the input.
  22. Does your photog have a website? My wedding is just after yours...maybe I can snag her for mine too. I never thought of bringing someone from home. Hmmm...
  23. The quotes I've received for a wedding cake have been so high that i'm wondering if anyone would notice if I skipped this. I have never eaten wedding cake at a wedding (I also don't really like cake so that could be why). My FI doesn't eat cake either. What do others think of this? Also, any suggestions for alternatives would be appreicated also. Thanks!
  24. Has anyone been in touch with Paul March? I'm curious about what his rates are...no luck though.
