  1. From the album: el dorado generations and royale

Mustard tuna was phenomenal. Also has tempanyaki tables.
  2. From the album: el dorado generations and royale

    Beautiful restaurant, food was great.
  3. I just got back from a vacation at EDR/EDC. I did see two different people in wheel chairs. One person was staying at the casitas section. I believe that she was unable to walk and was able to get around the resort in the wheel chair. Some restaurants are not accessible (santa fe) but it seemed most were. Contact the resort and see what they say about having a wheel chair. I should also say that Generations is accessible. There are elevators throughout all of the buildings and ramps leading into the restaurants. Getting to the beach is not accessibility friendly. I have some pictures of the Generations rooms and restaurants if anyone is interested. It is beautiful! The pier looks like an amazing place to get married. The view from the sky deck is spectacular!
  4. We also thought that the cost for the sound system was a bit ridiculous. The speakers are included for your ceremony. We then had the guitarist (included in our divine package) play during our cocktail hour - he has his own sound system. We purchased a portable battery powered speaker system from costco. We love it as it also runs on bluetooth. It was small enough to fit in our carry on luggage and we have used it several times since the wedding. I think it cost us 120-130$ - less than one hour of speaker rental at NS.
  5. We used our CC. It was awesome. It is actually charged in USD, not pesos! Do not use the ATM at the resort - omg what a rip! You can use USD the entire time (the resort will exchange to pesos for you if you need. The resort will also exchange Canadian dollars too!!!). We didn't bring enough cash, which is why I know about the ATM fees. I think a 50$ withdrawal ended up costing us over 80 canadian. Yikes. How many days are you going for? I found that we usually tipped about 15-25$/day between the two of us, and then we did tip the bartenders/servers at the wedding. We also bought a few souvineers and had to take a cab from the Now to the resort where we had our honeymoon. Hope that gives you a good idea.
  6. Our reception ended early - like 9pm. We went to the nightclub after and it was exactly like that! Then it got busy and was fun also
  7. I didn't have much to communicate before the wedding - I knew I was in good hands and was staying pretty well with the package with no add ons. I sent in my planning form and information so that we could get our airport transfer - that was it.
  8. I pulled this directly from my review of our wedding. We had the divine package. Cocktail Hour: Salmon and dill cream cheese (my favorite!) Shrimp wrapped in Bacon Sliced tomato and mozzarella al pesto Prosciutto ham bruschetta All four options were presented beautifully and tasted awesome! I wish I had a picture to show everyone, it was so good! Dinner: Appetizer: Seared Tuna salad Soup: Lobster Bisque Main Course – Surf and Turf or Seafood Stuffed Chicken (guest choice) Dessert – Cognac Truffle Cake The tuna was phenomenal. Everyone raved about it. The Lobster soup was good also – complete with a fried seafood ravioli garnish! The surf and turf was served with shrimp and asparagus and was very good. The chicken was served over couscous. I had the chicken and wasn’t overly thrilled with it (I would say that was how I felt about the chicken at every meal I had over the week. It all tastes the same – very salty). The dessert was awesome, it was a chocolate-y decadent mouse/cake covered in a white chocolate shell. We chose the Tres Leches flavour for our cake. It was really good, but after the cognac truffle desert nothing compared! Link to my full review here: http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/reviews/r/4208-now-sapphire-riviera-cancun/ For those of you that cannot see pictures yet, if you go to my profile and then to "Gallery" you can see all of my photos. Hope this helps!
  9. I agree, suit shopping was much harder than dress shopping! We went to Michigan, but Jos A. Bank is all over I think. If you go to their website and put in the closest US city to you the stores should be listed. My husband is also smaller (finding pants is hard for him - some stores don't carry 28-30 waist pants), and everything fit at Jos A no problem! I went to tip top tailor a few times while shopping for his suit also and the pants rarely came down in price .
  10. This is a little late but: I feel like we went to EVERY store in Canada that sold suits and then a whole bunch in the states also. My poor husband must have tried on 20+ suits...he hates trying on clothes. In Canada we couldn't find the right colour, and everywhere was $400+ which was out of our budget. Prices were substantially cheaper in the US. We ended up buying his suit at a store in the states called Jos A Bank. They have a special line called Tropical Blend that is specially designed for hot climates. The colour was perfect. When we went they had a great sale and we got the suit for only $150 (yahoo!!). We had great customer service there too. His sandals we bought at a Timberland outlet in the US for $30 and he loves them. He is wearing them this summer all of the time and are quite stylish. We did splurge a bit on his dress shirt - from le Chateau. We looked everywhere for something that was a cut a bit more slim and couldn't find something that fit him well except for le Chateau. This was on OK splurge for us as he will wear the dress shirt again. The suit not so much. Groomsmen attire was challenging as we were on a very tight budget, and couldn't get the two groomsmen together to even attempt shopping. Groom and groomsmen didn't match, but groomsmen pants matched the bridesmaids dresses. We ended up buying pants from a discount suit store in the mall, and shirts from old navy. Shirts were white, my dress was "diamond white". I don't think it looked dingy.
  11. I don't feel that it was too bright. In all honesty I don't really remember the lighting at all. I think this is a good thing because it means I wasn't unhappy with it! A lot of light came from the restaurant also.
  12. I was married on the terrace in November. It gets dark quite early at that time of year and we did not have lanterns. Light was provided by the resort and it was more than enough.
  13. We had just under 20 people and one long table worked out perfectly for us. It made the dinner seem more intimate and everyone was able to socialize. If you go to my gallery there are photos.
  14. I narrowed down the resorts by looking at photographers websites. I would scroll through a lot of the photos from recent weddings to find a resort that looked like somewhere I would want to get married.
  15. I sent them out through e-mail. I created a unique wedding e-mail address and sent out from there. I used a template that looked just like a postcard and sent out like that with a link at the bottom to go to our wedding website.
  16. I did electronic save the dates with a link to our wedding website at the bottom. Our website had all of the information to book their trip, and very little information about the wedding party, etc. So glad we did electronic as it saved so much money.
  17. I didn't toss my bouquet, but I did bring all of the bouquets and the centerpiece provided in my package back to our room. It smelled amazing in there over the rest of our vacation. We switched resorts for our honeymoon and brought them along there too - they lasted over a week! It was a nice reminder of our wedding while on our honeymoon.
  18. I was married at a resort that I had never been to before. All of our options for resorts we had not been to before. We used a combination of this website, trip advisor, photos of other weddings, and the wedding packages to make our decision. I had been to Mexico many times before and was familiar with the area and the location of all resorts that we were looking at.
  19. Have any past brides used or are thinking about using their free anniversary night? Do you have to use it during your anniversary, or can you use it a few months later?
  20. I think they will both look great. If it's windy, or there's a light breeze, I think the long dress will look amazing. Your BMs might appreciate it more too if it's cheaper. And they both like it more!
  21. Vanessa and GingerJ228, I am so thrilled that your weddings were everything you wanted them to be. That is wonderful! I hope you both enjoy your honeymoon!!!
  22. Hi There! I can answer some of these for you: For your reception, it is open bar. You have a signature drink for cocktail hour, but guests are free to order whatever they choose throughout the reception. After dinner the bartenders created many different shots for our party - it was a lot of fun! We used the guitarist as our soloist. I would highly recommend. He had a very large repertoire and played many older songs and many contemporary ones. Many of our guests didn't realize that he was playing, they thought it was a CD he was so good! It was a wonderful added touch to our wedding. He came with his own speaker system. I am sure if you had a specific song in mind you could tell the resort and the information would get passed on to the musician. OR if you have a specific song you want to walk down the aisle to, bring it on an ipod or your phone "just in case", if you are very worried about it. We used him for the cocktail hour, but if you wanted for your ceremony, he would continue to play after the ceremony is finished (during the champagne toast), or a little before while your guests are being seated. Would be happy to help if you have more questions!
