OFFICIAL NOW Jade Wedding Thread
DinaQtobe replied to TATrisha's topic in Riviera Maya and Cancun Accommodations & Site
I think we gave the server the ingredients, but they made it for us no problem! Great drink, not too sweet but man is it strong! -
Yes the little tall tables were used for the cocktail hour. I just looked at some pictures from our reception and the tables were still there after the dinner during the reception. Let me know if you have any other questions. Helping all future brides keeps our wedding (and all the amazing memories) current in my mind. It was such a fantastic day!

Assuming that you don't have a gigantic guest list attending the wedding.... The terrace is quite large. The cocktail hour is set up on one side of the terrace (which will then become the "dancing" part of the reception after dinner. The tables are all set up on the other side of the terrace. It all flows seamlessly from the cocktail hour to the reception. Your WC will also help keep people on track so that dinner starts on time, etc.

The Mexican restaurant was closed the night of our wedding. Though the buffet restaurant looks over the tequila terrace I do not recall anyone "gawking" or even looking at us during our reception. My husband and I faced the restaurant and didn't notice it at all. Perhaps they did not seat people next to the window since our wedding was held that night. I do think that the steak restaurant was open but it was a distance from our table and did not impact our dinner or reception in the least.

I have to disagree with VancouverPetunia. The tequila terrace is private. It is at the far end of the resort with no pool or beach loungers near by. While you will have some people looking on as they walk by the ceremony, October is very low season and there will likely only be a few! ALSO, there will be people watching if you were to be married on the beach at ANY resort. I have friends who have gone to DWs and they have said that there were people standing directly behind the wedding couple watching the wedding the entire time. This DID NOT happen to us at the Tequila Terrace. The preferred pool would be the most private but there is no view of the beach. The beach terrace is the least private, however at 5:30 most people will have moved on to start getting ready for dinner. If this is your option I wouldn't stress too much about it. Contact your TA, explain what you want. If the Tequila Terrace is unavailable, see if there is another date that will work. We had our wedding on the Tequila terrace and it was the exact vision I had for my wedding. It was perfect!

Civil Ceremony City Hall (Ontario Brides)
DinaQtobe replied to veryvalentine's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
We did the same as hayjules - we were actually married at City Hall in London ON also! Though I was surprised about the $250 charge, I had budgeted this fee into our wedding costs. If you know someone that is ordained in Ontario it will save you some money (there is a huge list on the governments website). For City Hall, we picked the vows out of a list and decided to not exchange rings and save it for our DW. We had two friends come and they took pictures and signed our license. It was a very sweet ceremony and took only about 15-20 minutes. If I was to do it again, I wouldn't change a thing. Afterwards we took our friends out for dinner.- 11 replies

The sun should set a bit later in April too. Your WC will give you a good time to have the ceremony if you want it to be right before the sun sets. This will potentially push back your cocktail hour and reception also so you might end later than 9. We were married at around 3:30 and it was perfect for November. Our cocktail hour happened after the sun had gone behind the buildings and during dinner it was dark, which was fine by me, we had more than enough light from the lighting provided by the resort and the ambient light from the regular lights outside. After dinner and speeches there was little time for a party, but the bartenders did an amazing job of bringing drinks to everyone - a few times they even brought different shots to everyone. We stayed on the Tequila Terrace after the bartenders had packed up. I had my own music system and this was fine. The wedding package is very comprehensive. The price includes the space for the wedding, cocktail hour and for the 3 hour reception (this includes the time it takes to eat dinner) afterwards. As I mentioned above after dinner and speeches there wasn't a lot of time for the party after dinner was fiished but I brought down my own portable speaker system and we stayed and danced for a bit after the bartenders had packed up. No one will be scheduled to use that space after your wedding. You can stay as long as you like, but there will not be bartenders. You can extend your reception for an additional fee, but this adds up fast. We didn't feel it was worth it for 19 people and instead, after our "reception" we headed to the club/disco. Again, I brought my speakers and we danced for a bit before it opened. Once it opened it was a really good time - lots of people dancing and congratulating us! If you read my review you might find it helpful. Go to my profile and then "reviews".

Yes, we were in the club before it opened. I can't remember exactly but I think we headed over around 9:30-10. It was pretty dark but it seemed clean. We couldn't get drinks (it's a very short walk to the lobby bar) but I brought my JBL portable speaker in and played music for a bit before everything got started. When the bartenders started to get things ready I asked if they could turn on some music for us. I don't know if it was bridal charm but they turned on dance music for us and the club lights and we danced before it all opened. After the club opened we had an even better time!!!

Anywhere in Playa Del Carmen or Playacar, or on Maroma beach or near Akumal. All areas where you can swim directly off the beach with great sand, little seaweed!!! We were engaged at a resort in Playacar (not recommended for a wedding) and had our honeymoon at El Dorado Maroma. Both had fantastic ocean swimming. We went to Mexico this February and stayed at the El Cid and couldn't swim in the ocean due to the rocks and seaweed. My husband was so disappointed!

There is some seaweed in the water. A machine comes around and picks up the seaweed off of the beach but there is some in the water. You can still swim in the water. If you are used to swimming in the ocean in Cuba, Punta Cana or even Playacar or Tulum in RM you will be disappointed with the swimming at Now Sapphire.

The tequila terrace is just as close to the beach as the beach terrace. We had our wedding on the "Tequila beach" (right in front of the Tequila Terrace) and then the reception on the tequila terrace after. It was fantastic. We had 19 people. I had my nails, hair, and makeup done by the ladies at the spa. Hair and makeup took about an hour and a half (i think...). I had Lecticia. She spoke very little English. I showed her a picture of what I wanted with my hair, and tried to communicate that I wanted it to have some volume on top. Although it wasn’t quite what the picture showed, my hair looked beautiful. It framed my face very well and I LOVED it. I wear very little makeup on a daily basis, so I was worried how it would turn out. At one point she put a little too much; I said something and she fixed it immediately. I thought it looked amazing. My mom said that it looked beautiful and I still looked like me, instead of looking overly made up. When I got back to the room I added a bit more eyeliner, and right before leaving the room a bit more mascara, but I felt gorgeous! My three sisters and my mom also had their hair done. All three looked amazing, though not exact copies of the pictures they showed the stylist. All held up really well throughout the night too. Bring pictures/show the ladies photos of what you want and you should be fine. I would like to add that the ladies at the spa overall were very helpful. My sisters painted our nails while waiting for our hair, and when we asked for nail-polish remover it was provided no questions asked. I also wanted to say that all of the cakes in the planning guide looked the same to me. I just picked one and asked Ramon to add some flowers the same color as our centerpiece. We had a cake topper also. I thought it looked beautiful!

I don't think this will be a problem. We had one guest that could not book preferred at our wedding and as long as she was with us (and gave one of our room numbers) it was fine. I am not sure what time that pool bar closes - might want to look into that and ensure it is still open at the time you want to meet. Also, I am not sure how many guests you have, but that bar is only staffed with one bartender, and the bar itself is small. There are lots of loungers and bali beds for your guests to hang out around, but there isn't a "bar" with stools or tables set up for mingling. If that atmosphere isn't what you were going for, the lobby bar is a great alternative. There are tons of couches and chairs set up. We met every night at the lobby bar and easily were able to get seating for about 15 people no problem. There are also servers that come around to take drink orders. If you tip them they come back often! Hope that information helps you.

We went to the club at the resort and had a GREAT time. We went before 10 (reception ended at 8:30 I think) and played music through the portable speakers we brought for our reception. The club and lobby bar are pretty close to each other - drinks came from there before the club "opened". After it opened we had even more fun. It was super nice to have people congratulating us the entire night. Great night, great memories!

We put the meal selection on our RSVPs. RSVP was done on our website through theknot.com. We had a small wedding - most people did not RSVP and I had to call them to find out their choice. With a group of 20 this was not a big deal. A heads up: The beef was wonderful! The chicken was salty. Every chicken dish I had the entire week was very salty. The surf and Turf: Photos of our wedding: Also, because our party was so small, I had a seating chart with all of the meal choices written out. At our pre-wedding meeting, I gave the seating chart to Ramon with our personalized favors. He placed them all for us and all dishes were delivered correctly. With a bigger party you might want to have different colored place cards for different meal choices. Make sure you highlight which is which to the wedding coordinator. Alternatively you could put a small picture of a cow or chicken (or fish) in the corner of each if you want to keep the cards the same color.

We brought our own music. I would say 2 minutes would be more than enough. They walk across the terrace (maybe 30 feet), down the stairs, and then to the ceremony site another 20 feet away. The wedding coordinator made sure that the music started and faded out appropriately, so if the song is longer don't stress!

The tequila terrace is by far the most private. It is at the very end of the resort with no loungers or pool near by. It was perfect! This photo was taken at the edge of the terrace. As you can see there is no one on the beach! You can see there is no one behind us. Very private. Our wedding album. A mix of photos from the resort photographer and my sister. Take a look for set-up of the tequila terrace.
