I am just curious how everyone is doing with their planning. Anyone want to share what stage they are at? Personally, I have reserved our date at our resort, and we have a reservation booked at a resort for our second week. I have not yet booked flights, or booked our stay at the wedding resort. I have my dress, but my fiance doesn't have his suit yet. My sisters have ordered their BM dresses. Other than that I don't think I have anything else accomplished. Am I the only one that still hasn't booked trip and flights? Dina

Hi Tammy, The same thing happened to me while I was vacationing at the GBP in September. I e-mailed Felix Schlokat: [email protected]. He responded promptly(!) and was very friendly. We actually met him while there and he was very sweet. We didn't make a reservation at any restaurant (though I have heard you can by e-mailing him), I just mentioned that it was going to be my mom's birthday on a specific date and could they please do something special for her on that day. On the day of her birthday we returned to our room with helium balloons everywhere. At dinner that night the waiters brought her a special cake and sang happy birthday to her. It was very sweet, and I didn't tell them that it was her birthday - I only e-mailed Felix. We ate at Le Gourmet (Coba) that night and I would highly recommend it for your birthday. The food was great and the service was exceptional. We actually decided to eat there twice in our 7 day vacation as we thought it was the best a la carte restaurant. I should mention that we didn't need to make reservations prior to leaving. On our first day we stopped by the lobby and made reservations for the entire week. It was great. Hope this information helps. Dina Our room on my moms birthday: Us at Le Gourmet for her Birthday dinner. It was fantastic! We had a late reservation and had amazing service. We didn't feel rushed either. The cute (and tasty!) cake for my mom's birthday (and we celebrated both of our birthdays).

I just want to add, that just as you shop around for your resort, you should shop around for a travel agent also! They are not all the same, unfortunately . Pick someone that gets back to you in a timely manner, and is willing to go the extra mile and gives you great advice!

Hey Sofi, I would probably contact a travel agent. They will be able to give you the best idea about cost so far out based on past travel prices. One out of Calgary would probably be best. I have heard that beach Palace is lovely! All the best in your search. Dina

If you sign up to receive e-mails from Old Navy they send coupons constantly. Whether you order online or go to the store to buy your merchandise you can pretty consistently receive 20-30% off.

I went to Old Navy this weekend with my FI. We ended up getting a pair of khaki pants for a TTD session... After looking at the cost of suits this weekend, we thought it might be nice to have separate pants to "trash". The pants were on for 19$, and then I had an additional 20% off coupon. Great deal!

I am going through something similar... My mom, dad, and three sisters are thrilled that we are going to have a DW. I rarely get to see my family, and am so excited to get to spend a whole week with them during the wedding! My FI's family on the other hand is a different story. They have been, and continue to be extremely negative about our wedding. In fact, my FI's father has told us that he is not coming - with very little reasoning on why. It is very strange to me, because my FI's mom is going to come (his mom and dad are happily married). So one parent is coming while the other stays at home. His dad's sisters have now said they are going to come too. So the Father of the Groom will be missing, but the Father's sisters will be there. I think his absence will be noticed by the entire family. It is so frustrating. I wish I could give you some advice on what to say to your family, but the most important is that you are honest that this DW is what you want, and you have to make yourself happy. It's just unfortunate that your own family is being so difficult .

Does this TA work for a specific company? IE: an office where there may be other agents that can help out? If so, I would contact the actual office and see if there can be some additional help... As someone that treats cancer patients, I have seen many patients sail through treatments, while others have a very hard time. It is possible that your TA will be able to handle it all - or she might not. If you know her personally, you could always make a nice meal and bring it over to her house. Check in on her and see how she is doing. She will appreciate that you thought of her in that light. While you are there sincerely ask her if she thinks she will be ok to handle the wedding. Tell her that you definitely understand either way what her decision is. It's a delicate matter, but I think if you go into it thinking of her it will all work out. Good luck!

Hi Alirea, My FI proposed while we were on vacation in the Mayan Riviera also! We booked our wedding before we booked our trip. We actually are still shopping around a bit for thel trip for the wedding. We have our wedding date confirmed and know which week we want to go. Some people do it the opposite way. We didn't want to do it that way though, as we were concerned that we would not be able to reserve a date in the week we were looking at. My advice would be to go with a travel agent that specializes in destination weddings that can help you through it. (It can be quite overwhelming). This website is a great tool though, lots of people to talk things out with! Choosing a resort is the hardest part. Happy planning! Dina

All inclusive or not? Which is more cost-effective?
DinaQtobe replied to Rmarino222's topic in Newbies!!
For us, the AI or non-AI decision was very easy. The reason that my fiance and I decided on a DW in the first place, was so that we could spend quality time with our families without any stress. We both live far from our families and do not get to visit very often. A DW would allow us to have an entire week with our loved ones that was completely care free. No one has to cook, clean, or feel the need to "host". An AI resort fit that perfectly for us. I can't wait to see my parents and sisters and spend an entire week with them. (I haven't seen one of my sisters in over a year! At the time of our wedding we will be reunited after almost 2 years of not seeing each other. I can't wait!). -
I have bought jewelry in Playa before. Sometimes it's marked up REALLY high and you can often haggle the staff down. You can often find something really nice for a good price though (sometimes you have to do a lot of searching though, especially if you have something specific in mind).

I think that will look really pretty! With the beautiful colours of the ocean any colour combination will look great! Thanks for the links for the veil weights. Will have to check out studiosuits too, as we haven't found anything for my FI to wear yet.

I was going to order my SaveTheDates off of Vistaprint. We have about 45 invites to send out. I am not going to send them to my parents or sisters, and will hand deliver to my FI's family which I hope will save us some money. I'm still not completely sold on it, but my mom seems to think it's a great idea. We'll see. I will have to be on the lookout for the jewel weights you guys are talking about. Any quick ideas on where to get them? TealMarie: When are you flying down for your wedding? We will be the 16th

Another November 2013 Bride here!!! We're getting married at the Now Sapphire in the Mayan Riviera - November 21st. I honestly can't wait! The week after our wedding we are spending at the El Dorado Maroma. I think I am more excited for our honeymoon than our actual wedding. I also already have my dress. When I bought it I also purchased a veil. Anyone have any ideas on how to ensure it doesn't blow absolutely everywhere? I am in the process of designing our SaveTheDates. I just want to send out invites, but my mom says it's too early. We only JUST booked our wedding date.
