  1. It took about 2-3 days from the time I sent the e-mail with the deposit information until the time I got an e-mail back confirming our wedding date. Janelle, your pictures are amazing! Congratulations you and your husband and family look so happy!
  2. How many people do you have booked so far? Are you expecting more to book? We didn't use a travel agent, so people can book as late as they want (though I do have September 2nd as the RSVP date)....
  3. Hi Holly! I think part of the appeal for me about a DW was that I didn't have to do all of that stuff. I want to have this process be easy and stress free. I'm not overly crafty and I don't want to have to lug a bunch of stuff down to Mexico. Therefore, I am not doing any decorations - the beach and ocean and palm trees are my decorations, lol! I look at some of my friends having a wedding at home and am astonished about the stuff they have to worry about (decorating the ceiling of the hall? seriously?), and am so relieved that I don't have to even entertain those thoughts. I think you would be absolutely fine if you didn't do all the "extras". Do any of those extras matter to you? If not, don't worry. Ultimately, I think that a DW is whatever you want it to be. If you are excited to marry your fiance and go on a beautiful vacation, that's all that matters It will be special to you because you are happy. PM me if you want to discuss this further, lol. I know that sometimes I feel like a bit of a rarity because I don't want to do any extras, I just want to show up! lol.
  4. I am very excited to say that both sides of our immediate families have booked their vacation for the wedding! This is wonderful news! Puts us up to 16 + one baby including the bride and groom! Everyone that comes now is just a great added bonus .
  5. I usually leave early enough to avoid the bad stuff... but not this morning! Oh well, it was worth it to get to spend more time with my wonderful fiance. Long distance is hard.
  6. Drive there was fine.... driving back this morning - not so much. Major accident on the 400Southbound. Had to take the 407...
  7. OUCH!! I am sure that extra cost is mostly from the extra guests.... Is that $9000 only what you will pay the resort, or does it include rings, dress, etc?
  8. I used theknot.com wedding website. I don't love it, but it is doing it's job. I have heard that with mywedding you can get an app for free (and all your guests too) where they post the pictures to the app and it creates a special album for the newly married couple. It sounds pretty neat!
  9. Having been to the Riviera Maya in February, June, and September, I can tell you with absolute certainty that June and September are HOTTTTT and humid. I love the heat, but it was really hot. February was wonderful temperature and I am sure December will be the same. I am getting married in November and the temperature can fluctuate from 22-28 degrees Celsius from what I understand.
  10. I am also pretty much at the same place as I was last month, though I can scratch the FI's suit off the list! The big thing I have to tackle right now is invitations. We are going to try and print them next weekend, and send them out as soon as possible. (Save The Dates went out in early March). Other than that we have: - find attire for the groomsmen - have my dress altered - ceremony script and vows - organize music for ceremony and reception - get legally married Although that list seems to have a lot of big things on it, I don't feel overwhelmed at all - I am just so excited to go!! I am pretty laid back so I might not go with anything specific for the ceremony, but I would like us to write our own vows (though I have no idea where to begin with that one...). 5 months still feels like lots of time, but I know this summer will FLY by!
  11. Five months, TealMarie!!!! I can't believe time is going by so fast! I better get my butt in gear!!!! How far are you ladies through the process? What do you have left to do?
  12. Our budget is for approximately 16-17,000. BUT we have already saved in a few areas and hope that it will be much less. This budget also includes the cost of our vacation and our honeymoon. Overall we budgeted 10,000 for our actual "wedding" costs, and then 7,000 for the trip and honeymoon. Resort Package 3500 Additional Flowers 210 Photographer 1000 Rings 1500 Bride Attire 1000 Groom Attire 300 Favours 500 Gifts 375 Invitations 300 Other/Misc 1000 Resort for wedding week 3000 Honeymoon Week 4000 We added the "Other" category for any last minute things that pop up - for example we needed new luggage as ours was falling apart - but it was more to pad our budget if we went over in other areas. We made our budget before doing research into the cost for certain things, and we have saved in some areas already. So far we have come in way under budget on our Honeymoon week, invitations, and favours. My sister is going to take some wedding photos and we will go with the resort photographer included in our package, which will save us money also. I think we will come in under budget for sure! I am hoping about 13,000.
  13. Congratulations on deciding on a place. The hard part is now done!!!
  14. We sent out Save The Dates in March. Invitations will likely go out in the next 3 weeks or so (fingers crossed!!!). Happy you found this thread! Less than 5 months for you!
  15. I might be considered a GTA bride.... As I drive through the GTA every other weekend to visit my FI (currently doing long distance).
  16. Your dress is STUNNING!!!! You are so beautiful! It's so beautiful with the lace and without, and your accessories are perfect!
  17. I actually booked our wedding trip through bookit.com! So did my parents and one sister! They have amazing customer service.
  18. Flights can be what costs the most for us. I didn't think you could get a hotel for such a good price either! They stayed somewhere off the strip (he said it was really low end) and it was about 100$/night. Honestly the amount he spent last year for 3 days in Vegas was similar to what we spent when we went to Mexico last May for 1 week.
  19. I am very excited for you! It must be a testament to how great the resort is that you are returning for your anniversary. There is a lot of selection in the Riviera Maya so it must have been fantastic! I hope you have a great trip!
  20. I really want to go to Vegas, at least once! My FI went last year for his brothers bachelor party. I was so jealous. I feel bad because he likely wont get to go this year for his own bachelor party, but at the same time I'm kind of happy that he wont get to do it again without me. :S
  21. Yes, I am very happy that I at least went. I forced myself to go because I want to keep going 3 times a week and today I had to go or else I wont be able to fit 3 times in this week. Feels good that I went.
  22. Went for a run tonight, despite NOT wanting to in a very big way. Having a bad day. I am finding that I can handle working out 3 days a week. I don't know if I could do much more than that. You ladies that fit stuff in every day amaze me. Last week I made it to my half hour running goal. I was so pumped. Tonight I could only do 26 minutes. I was dying (was running at a faster pace though). My work scrubs are starting to feel bigger!
  23. I actually found the PDF that I was sent when I reserved our wedding date. If you send me your e-mail address I can send it to you if you would like.
