  1. Does anyone have the spa price list, or can they comment on the cost of hair and makeup? I am curious for the costs for my mom and sisters....

I'd say one pair at the beginning took an hour and a half, and now they take maybe 40 minutes for a pair. I use really small beads though, so they are more difficult to string. If you were to use larger beads it would take you no time at all. I bought the seed beads and the stretchy chord at the dollar store, and then bought some other beads at Walmart, Hobby Lobby, and Michaels. Maybe I spent $20-25 all together. This made 4 pairs and I have TONS of beads left over. I don't think I even used half of what I purchased. I'd say it's worth it to make them. For me, it was a fun project. My FI lives in a different city and it was a good way to pass some time and get excited about the wedding. I made them while watching TV.
  3. I have made foot jewelry for my bridesmaids. I have now moved onto some for myself, but I can't decide which ones I like more.... Anyone have any opinions?? Please ignore my very broken toe nails..

Is it less to bring an additional bag vs cramming one bag with a lot of heavy stuff?
  5. As far as OOT bags go, I'm not doing a "bag" exactly, but a tumbler cup and some hand sanitizer. I also want to make a door knob sign that says something about how our guests were at our wedding the night before.

I will bring it and see what they say about the sound system when we get there.

We'll see what they have to say. Thanks for the tip. Hope your planning is coming along well. H Yes, with 80 the costs will add up VERY quickly. I hope you find something soon! Keep us updated!

In November it shouldn't be too warm, especially at night. Now Jade has lots of great indoor options for receptions. The bamboo room is beautiful!
  9. El Dorado is part of a larger chain of resorts called Karisma. The Azul properties are Karisma and family friendly. If they are anything like the El Dorado they should be fantastic! There is also an El Dorado Generations that allows families. The one that is open already is on maroma beach - one of the most beautiful beaches I have ever seen. We are going to the El Dorado Maroma for our honeymoon week, and I cannot wait! http://www.karismahotels.com/HotelsResorts/ForEveryone/GenerationsMaroma

In about 4 weeks I went from 3 minutes to over 30 minutes. It really is remarkable what you can do when you put your mind to it! You have all inspired me to start doing more strength training... Pushups, sit ups and squats.... leg raises etc! My sister reminded me today that it's 45 days until we leave and 50 days until the wedding, so time to kick this into high gear!!!

Also, since I'm less than 60 days in, I can't have a room block separated for me, but on a Monday he told me that Nov 23/24 rooms for my large group were available, and then THAT Wednesday (two days later) they were no longer available! Even without a room guarantee, only two days and they were no longer be available?! What if I would have confirmed and announced the date to my guests and they would call to book to only find that the rooms are not available (for members bc I could book many online)? Horrible. So we picked another date. He said 'no guarantees on room availability, but right now it looks good'. Can't trust that after what he said on the other date. My heart was set on Moon Palace, and I was so demoralized by all this. I was crying at my 3 dress shopping appts and totally out of it. Now I'm back to square one having to pick and book a resort. I already only had two months to plan, and two weeks were waisted by these people. What were your other resort finalists? I am so sorry to hear of the poor treatment MP gave you. I am surprised that there is no availability - I would have thought that the end of November would not be a peak season especially with thanksgiving being around then.... I am getting married at the Now Sapphire, but the other top resort was the El Dorado Royale. I have been there before and it is a beautiful resort with the most amazing food. The staff works really hard and were so friendly. I really hope you are able to be accommodated at the Moon Palace. I know when your heart is set on something it can be hard to go another route. Maybe you can find something else that is just as amazing!

After your wedding is said and done you'll wonder why you stressed about everything. Take a deep breath- it will all be okay. I am more concerned with other passengers being "annoyed" with us that we have this long garment bag. I am not overly worried about the dress, just more about others giving us a hard time. It's just the two of us on both flights. Also probably something stupid to get stressed about.

Over our honeymoon I think we are going to try and run the 5k at the El Dorado. Can't wait!
  14. I just got back from a great run! My fat cried, that's for sure! Glad to hear you are all doing well with the workouts and challenges.

  16. Ran 3 times this week! Yay! Goal for this week is the same, but to run for a half an hour vs the 25 mins that I have been. Yesterday was the 2 month mark from our wedding day. I can't believe it! Keep it up ladies, you are all doing wonderfully!
  17. Have any recent brides brought their own speakers down? Brides that rented speakers, was the cost charged per hour? So $150 an hour for a 3 hour reception? I am getting so close! At what point should I be booking the spa appointments for hair/makeup? When I send in my planning form?
  18. Hi Everyone, I am curious if any brides have flown with WestJet. I am starting to get anxious about flying with my dress and my FI's suit... I should probably just call WJ and find out directly, but I am curious if any brides here have past experiences (good or bad!) I know there is not a closet to hang our garment bags, we will have to put them in the overhead bin. Can other brides share their experiences with this? Were most other passengers ok with moving overhead bags for the dress? I am worried because we are not flying with any family or friends, it will just be the two of us. Also, we are not flying direct. We fly Toronto to Ottawa, and then Ottawa to Cancun. It's really the Toronto to Ottawa flight that I am concerned about... Would anyone recommend putting both the dress and suit into the same garment bag? To maximize our other carry on luggage? Anyway, I am probably getting nervous for nothing. If anyone can help, I'd appreciate it. Less than two months away for me now!

Anyway - I need to set up a destination wedding website ASAP. Any recommendations? I'm going shopping for a dress tomorrow (rush delivery please!). What else do I need todo right away? Any tips advice you can offer are much appreciated. Let's see of I can pull this off! I'm know as an amazing hostess and throw unforgettable parties. I want ,y wedding to be grand, and with this deadline, we'll see what happens! Thanks!!! Congratulations!!! I am sorry to hear about your family illness, but I hope that your wedding will be full of celebration and love! Wedding bands can take up to 8 weeks to order, so that would be my recommendation for you to do after the dress. Also start looking for the attire for your fiance, and wedding party if you are having one. I used theknot.com for my website. It was fairly easy to use. Are you planning on sending out invitations, or using e-mail? I would get on those when you have a moment to breathe. You want your guests to be able to book their travel arrangements as soon as they can. The great thing about a DW is that the resort should take care of EVERYTHING for you, so really, you shouldn't have much stress as far as the actual day. If I can be of any more help, please let me know! I know you will have a fantastic wedding!!
  21. Your dog is so cute! I also want a dog right now in the WORST way (I have for over a year), but with going away for two weeks for the wedding, I just don't think it is a good idea. Oh, and have I mentioned that my FI and I live in different cities too? I got that run in this morning! Marks 1 for the week. Two more, I can do this!!!
  22. Phew, I think I am pretty much on track. The biggest hurdle I think will be getting legally married. We both live in different cities, so it means one of us needs to take some time off work .
  23. Ok November Brides.... I'm wondering if I am on track.... (Kind of worried that I am not with two months to go) - Bridesmaids all have their dresses (and don't need alterations) - Went for my first fitting yesterday - Bridal Jewelry and shoes have been purchased - Wedding bands have been purchased - Grooms attire has been purchased I am working on the last foot jewelry, we have to write our vows, I have to create the ceremony script (or at least have an idea of what we want), and pick out music for the ceremony and reception and load it onto an ipod. I still need to find gifts for my bridesmaids, but I am going to go shopping some time this week and hope that I find something. I think I am ok, but am worried that I have forgotten something... Anyone else? I can't believe how close this is...
  24. I went for my first fitting yesterday. I bought my dress at an off-the-rack sale, so it was at least two sizes too big to begin with. The seamstress seemed very confident, so I think they can take a dress in quite a bit! The lady quoted me 300$, that's taking it in, hem, and adding bra cups into the bust. I managed to squeeze in two runs this week, goal for next week is 3. I can do this! Tomorrow marks two months until we leave. I can hardly believe it!
