  1. Thanks for the link, Lyman! Only two of the threads that come up are really related, and only one actually offers advice.. but I think I'm going to answer the questions provided by one of the girls and then bring it to the Destination Wedding Fair we're going to next week. Thanks so much for that info as it pretty much covers everything! Thanks Steph! We can't even make a list of one right now so I don't know about a top 10. But that's a good idea if we start finding some places! Thanks for your post cherany! We were actually leaning more and more towards Mexico because both we know it well and my future in-laws as well (they're actually headed down close to Bucerias at the end of the month and offered to scout locations), but I talked to my dad about it and he is pretty much terrified to go to Mexico. So that's just a no unfortunately, which sucks because I have had a peeek anyway and it really seems like Mexico is the best cheapest option. So beautiful and something for whatever your taste. But I think my dad will be really uncomfortable if we ask him to go to Mexico. We actually found our photographer first two - I think that part is way easier than the location! haha Love who you picked, I hope you share your photos here!
  2. Thanks so much for posting the picture, I couldn't see it either. Beautiful Save the Date!
  3. Wow we are no closer to choosing a place. I don't even know the country. I don't know how you guys decided. I'm just completely overwhelmed.
  4. ^ That's such a cute idea! Could you maybe print one that relates to you guys? If we end up picking somewhere Spanish-speaking (my ideal!) I may copy that. Because I can tell you.. those guides are in reality not super helpful. People are really only going to use one or two phrases, and most places people speak enough English to help you get by. If you had some phrases you wanted to include, I can help you translate if you give me lots of time.
  5. She pretty much asked what we were thinking of wedding-wise, from guest number to wedding colours to getting a feel for what kind of an atmosphere we wanted. They know all the right questions to ask so you don't really have to prepare anything going in. We still haven't heard back from them though, so I can't say that they do things in a timely manner... but again, that may just be because our date is so far away. Good luck, it is fun just going in and looking at things even if you don't use them. They had some pretty awesome passport invitations when we were there!
  6. Oops - hit enter too early. I actually wrote out a longer reply, but it's awaiting moderation? Not sure why these two are going through.. sorry for the confusion, but I assume another response from me will show up in a bit? Also unsure how to edit entries.. :S I got my dress at Jessica's Bridal, yes it is on McLeod. The display outside is crazy, we actually went in as a joke. And ended up buying a dress!
  7. For passport invites, they had really nice ones on display at WedStudio. I was considering doing them. Here's the site: http://www.gottheinvite.com/deposit-tropical-i-themed-passport-invitation-suite/
  8. I really suggest going to WedStudio on 17th Avenue! It's a free wedding planning store and it's amazing. The staff are super helpful, and did I mention it's free? haha The only downside is I've found they're a little slow to respond. I went in in August and there were apparently some e-mail troubles..after trying a few times to contact them we only went in for an appointment last Sunday (although I really let it go as our date is so far out, I'm not in a rush). And we still haven't heard back. But I'm sure they'd be quicker with someone in more of a hurry. It's even just worth it to go in and have a look even if you don't go with them - they gave me like 10 free wedding magazines just for stopping by. Good luck with the planning!
  9. I'm going to wait until probably a year out for the officials, but I'm gearing up to sent out the save the dates pretty soon!
  10. HAha I was wondering! Although I'm at the point of considering Mexico just because I want to book somewhere, and can't find anything I like.
  11. Love everything! Your wedding was absolutely gorgeous. Did you ever make the blog you mentioned? Either way thanks for sharing everything!
  12. No that's great! Yes I think I'm going to have to go get some help because looking randomly on the internet doesn't seem to be working! I wish we were getting married in Mexico some times, but we want to try somewhere we haven't been.
  13. Oh my, we still have not even narrowed down a place. I think I may need some expert help on this one. We have a free Wedding planning store here (kind of like a travel agent, but for weddings), I may have to hit it up.
  14. Ah we still have not picked a country, never mind a location. I don't even know where to start. I am definitely NOT passing myself.. I like having lots of time, but I don't want anything to be last minute so I'm doing whatever I feel like now! I have my dress, the bridesmaid dresses and the material purchased to make our Save the Dates. Which I can't continue with until we find out where we'll be having it!
  15. Welcome Nicole! We're July 2014, so I hope to see you around for the next 2 years! ^^
  16. Thanks guys! Still haven't picked a country yet, never mind a location, haha. It's important for us to go somewhere we've never been, as this is an opportunity to travel for not only us but for our friends and family as well. I completely understand wanting to know the venue beforehand, but I don't think I will ever visit the same resort twice - there are too many places to see!
  17. Thanks so much! This actually helped me a lot. I'm letting myself get overwhelmed and didn't even think to check out if there was a website that actually shows the best time for all destination locations at once rather than looking each one up individually, & the Weather Channel does that nicely!
  18. Hello everyone! We are recently engaged and know that we want to do a destination wedding. The question now is, where? The only stipulation we have is that we want to have it in a country we have no yet visited, so our choices exclude: - Mexico - Turks & Caicos - Cuba - Spain (although we're thinking we'll save Europe for the honeymoon anyway) My question to you lovely ladies is, how did you decide where you wanted to go? Do you have any pointers at how to narrow down the choices? Thanks for your help! I look forward to sharing ideas and gushing with all of you! Here's a visual:
