  1. Congratulations on finding your dress!

I bought my dress 2 years before my wedding date (we will have been engaged 2 and a half years before marrying) and I'm SO happy to have it all out of the way! No worrying if it will arrive on time. If you've found it, you've found it! And really, who would keep looking at dresses after they've bought theirs? It's awesome advice, but I kind of felt like "duh!" as people shared that with me a lot, haha.

  2. I have been having the same thing at my place Jinele.. but one person said, you want their full attention when it is your wedding day, so when you think of it that way, it's nice that they will (hopefully) be focused on you when it's your turn. I do definitely feel your frustration though!!

Good luck kldunning. We just spent almost a year looking (long engagement! haha) and it can get nerve-wracking) but these forums are awesome to help finding a place!

  3. I was just going to offer - if you guys need anything translated, I speak Spanish so I am definitely willing to help out!

I'm so glad you asked, fireworks is something we've both always wanted! Could you forward the info to me as well? [email protected]

We sent out $500 deposit tonight. We'd like to try to send as much as we can beforehand down so we don't have to bring as much. I have requested that she give me a number if she can once this $500 goes through, but I know 2014 prices aren't avialable yet so we may have to wait. If anyone has a figure, I would super appreciate it!

  4. Hello everyone!

Originally from Newfoundland, I've been in Calgary for the last six years.
Just booked for July 10, 2014 at Jellyfish Restaurant in the Dominican Republic. Super excited! :)

  5. I have a question: We are trying to pay the deposit and just got the e-mail from Mayte that she will send the bank info.

Would anyone happen to have it? I've heard you need to send her the info as they get a lot of deposits and no way to know which one is yours.
And how much did you pay for your deposit?

Thanks so much! Thanks everyone that has shared their pictures, looks so beautiful! And congrats to those headed down soon! :D

  6. Hello! I just finished making my Will You Be My Bridesmaid Cards, and thought this would be the perfect place to share.

It came from this tutorial http://www.glamourandgraceblog.com/2011/diy-watercolor-will-you-be-my-bridesmaid-cards/
I wasn't creative and copied it... didn't use the template though, I just wrote it as is so it might be nicer than this if you choose to use the template.

Another tip is that a white pencil did NOT work for me. I used a crayon and it did work so I would recommend doing a small test-strip before doing a whoe care.

Our wedding colours are blue and purple so I tried to incorporate that.. it was my first time using water colours though so I'm not sure it worked out. But I'm happy with them!

I added a royal blue scrap book page to the inside and wrote a note. I have already asked my bridesmaids but am sending them a package with their dress and a Diamond Candle (candle with a ring inside) to them once the candles arrive.

How did you ask your bridesmaids? Only one of my bridesmaids live in the same city that I do, so I took her out for coffee, the rest had to be on the phone. What'd you do?

  7. Thanks for the link, Lyman! Only two of the threads that come up are really related, and only one actually offers advice.. but I think I'm going to answer the questions provided by one of the girls and then bring it to the Destination Wedding Fair we're going to next week. Thanks so much for that info as it pretty much covers everything!

Thanks Steph! We can't even make a list of one right now so I don't know about a top 10. But that's a good idea if we start finding some places!

    Thanks for your post cherany!
We were actually leaning more and more towards Mexico because both we know it well and my future in-laws as well (they're actually headed down close to Bucerias at the end of the month and offered to scout locations), but I talked to my dad about it and he is pretty much terrified to go to Mexico. So that's just a no unfortunately, which sucks because I have had a peeek anyway and it really seems like Mexico is the best cheapest option. So beautiful and something for whatever your taste. But I think my dad will be really uncomfortable if we ask him to go to Mexico.
We actually found our photographer first two - I think that part is way easier than the location! haha Love who you picked, I hope you share your photos here! :D

  8. ^ That's such a cute idea! Could you maybe print one that relates to you guys?
If we end up picking somewhere Spanish-speaking (my ideal!) I may copy that.
Because I can tell you.. those guides are in reality not super helpful. People are really only going to use one or two phrases, and most places people speak enough English to help you get by.

If you had some phrases you wanted to include, I can help you translate if you give me lots of time.
