Honestly, She is absolutely amazing and has gone above and beyond our expectations. This entire process has been a breeze. I didn't settle on an agent for 3 weeks and it was really frustrating. The different quotes I was receiving was astonishing. I went with Vanessa not only because she worked to get us fantastic rates, but also because I would email her and she would respond instantly. She did the same with my finicky guests and has a lot of experience with wedding bookings. I'm in Edmonton and my guests are all over and she has been so organized. I'm sure everyone will probably recommend their TAs now and flip you info and you should definitely look into them all. You will know instantly who you want working with your group. I hope this helps. I was in the same boat you are when I began this whole process but I learned a lot.
Okay, gave her a call because my TA wasn't answering my e-mail (and still hasn't...)
She is AMAZING. Gets back to you SO quickly, and updates you along the way. Can't recommend Vanessa enough!! Thanks pokeyholly!

Oh god, ours would be 18 letters hyphenated. And my full name is already 25 letters. Not looking to add to that! haha
I'm not attached to my last name.. and I'm actually looking forward to having a shorter name. -

Yup! You need to provide your e-mail so someone can forward it to you.

Thanks so much for sharing how your wedding went with us, Ivendram! It looked like it was absolutely beautiful!

In Calgary now, but from Newfoundland!
I'm not sure about pictures.. but pictures OF having for the bride and groom to kiss, people have to kiss a fish might be cute! haha
I'll keep thinking! -
Although to be clear, she e-mailed me that response - she didn't post it in Facebook.

Haha! Personally I think Katya Nova has it made.. winters in DR, summers in Canada, working at weddings, WITH her honey! That's gotta be the best job in the world!

He charges $350. We're trying to decide what to do because I feel like it's steep for a 10-minute symbolic ceremony.
But not sure I want a friend to do it.. hard to decide! -

Urgghh, sorry, only a 2013 price list as of yet. No 2014.
-
Yes, there's still only a 2014 price list.
Someone posted on the FB page that they had a 2014 price list but wanted to check with Mayte before sharing. I asked her directly and she said
"That´s not true, I have not 2014 list, because i don´t change the prices until that happends, if is not change?? I preferd to wait for the increase, but I let you know all of you on time." -
Yeah, I haven't contacted her since we paid. I just assumed I'll do the rest, and contact her when busy season is over.
Just heard so much not to worry, I've stopped worrying! haha
Awesome, I was 100% going to rent out the whole restaurant but so many people have said it's not necessary, I'm going to save that $1000. Love this forum! -

You know.. I never did hear back from 'the boss'. Mayte told me twice that he would get back to me, but he never did. But she did tell me if went through and he got it, so I kind of forgot about it. I paid back in March...

I would rather put that money towards upgarded items for the reception. I am going to use the bride room that was just completed at the Jellyfish to get ready and I have requested for Anna N. (Makup/hair) to come there. It also allows me time to check on the progress of set-up etc...to ensure it is the way I want it and I can work with Mayte in person for any last minute changes or updates...IE: weather/additonal guests etc.... I plan to arrive at the JF around 10am. I have opted not to use much time for "getting ready" photos..honestly this is my second marriage and I had 2 hrs of getting ready in my room and various shots of drinking champagne with bridal party.. for the first wedding and those photos have styed in a box since the day I recevied them..I never framed any or put any of them out. THey were really great to look at but that is about it...I preferred to have reception photos framed. I would rather use my time allotment for full reception converage thatn me in my bra getting into my dress...
I just checked with Mayte and asked if we could come to Jellyfish to start getting ready at 10. She said we couldn't come until 12 to start getting ready.

I'm budgeting for $10,000 at the Jellyfish.
& just to add.. Mayte is no longer fast at getting back to you (Jellyfish is booked into 2015 so she's super busy!) but I have only heard amazing things about her and the Jellyfish.
My favourite part is that she decorates from pictures you send her, and so far every picture I've seen has been gorgeous.

LOL tell me if I am crazy and thinking too much about this!!
I know destination weddings aren't following traditional timelines/rules by any means, so just looking to see how you ladies are solving this!
Love that you posted this, I was just thinking about this!
Our date is July 10th, 2014.
We just sent out save the dates, so June 2013.
Invites I was planning on sending September 2013.
& I didn't know when to request an answer! So I will see what some of you guys say! ^^
I'm the same though, I'd send out invitations now if it were all appropriate!

Oh my! So beautiful!
I'm going to try to make passport invitations too, yours look so wonderful! Any pointers?
I have a template to start, but anything you'd let someone know starting out? Besides how time consuming they are? (I'm a teacher it's my summer project!)
I"m sure your guests will be over the moon!
-
Yup, that's really good advice! I ended up getting something I NEVER would have tried. I had a really good salesperson who knew what would look good on my body type. Definitely try on different things!
-
Hey ladies, I have another question...
For those of you who have/are getting married in July, when will you start getting ready? And what time did you get married? Trying to piece together my timeline, or just get a basic idea.
Any other 2014 brides here getting an early start?
in Newbies!!
