  1. I have read on here several times that you either pay the $500 for outside vendors or 2 nights at the hotel so they are a guest. According to my travel agent Barcelo requires a 3 night minimum to book and when I looked on their website and Expedia/Orbitz it would not let me check prices for the two nights I selected. How many nights did you pay for for the photographer?
  2. We are thinking about doing one two nights before the wedding. Playacrawl looks fun and to get out of the resort area for a night! They do bachelorette/bachelor parties specifically too. http://www.playacrawl.com/#!Bachelorette/c1bf2
  3. Oh really? I am going to look into it. Thank you for all your help and that is excited that your wedding is so soon! I am already getting so excited for ours! Happy planning to you too
  4. MexicoHereICome, You are right, I know everything will work out in the end. I have to keep telling myself that things are different here than in Mexico! I know it is one of the most important days of our lives so we want it to be perfect and plan everything out...but like I keep reading, you can change everything up until the end to make it how you want. And I know one of the reasons we chose to do a destination wedding was for it to be more laid back and fun, so I need to keep remembering that, let go and know it will work out . Thanks everyone for all the support! How much more did you end up paying for the outside photographer as compared to the same package with the hotel's company?
  5. Thanks guys, that is a good idea! Might as well use the live music since its included! Do you know what other instruments besides the violin can be used? Do you know if you can pick the songs they play..or at least from a list?
  6. For those who had live music at the ceremony which options are there and were you happy with it? I know it is included in the package I am just debating if I want to do the live music or not because I have certain songs in mind for at least when the wedding party and I walk down the aisle. Thanks!
  7. According to the wedding packages document that was sent to me by my WC; all packages Blueberry Dream and above include the Justice of the Peace or Non Denominational Minister in the price of the package. Maybe they had the Coconut package and/or maybe (depending on when the posting was) it has changed since then?
  8. My WC is Jacqueline. The only responses I have got have been through my TA. My reservations were forwarded to her several weeks ago and I chose my wedding package a couple weeks ago. In the last email she did say that we would talk about locations when we starting the wedding planning. Just not sure when that will be . When did you start your planning process? Who is your WC? On a side note: I have to say it is so nice to be able to talk things through and ask questions on this forum:) Makes it a lot less overwhelming! Thanks girls!
  9. That is so good to know that you can rent vases from the resort and for pretty inexpensive! Beats hauling them there in your suitcases!
  10. I keep seeing things about filling out a spreadsheet that their WC sent? What is this? It has not only been difficult (I have to have my travel agent send the email to get a response) to get my questions answered, but my WC has not starting any planning with me. My wedding is March 1st and it feel like there is still plenty of time but I am seeing a lot of brides on here already having locations and certain details planned and can't help but feel I am behind! The only concern I have is another wedding will be on the same day I will not have first pick of locations.. I emailed my WC so we will see!
  11. My wedding is March 1st. I just sent out my save the dates, and probably would have sooner it just took that long to get engagement pics done and STDs made. I am planning to send the invitations out in September (5-6 months in advance). It seems like a lot of time in advance (usually invites are sent about 6-8 weeks before the wedding) but because its a destination wedding I wanted to give everyone plenty of time to figure out finances, taking time of work, childcare, etc. I think I am putting the RSVP date January 1st (2 months before) wedding...still deciding between December 1st and January. This would give guests several months to decide if they can make it before RSVPing and I would think people would want book their trip by two months before! It sounds like you don't really have to know how many people will be at your wedding and all the details until you get there so the RSVP date might not matter but I am a planner and want to bring some decorations and gifts and would need to know how many to get/make . I know what you mean when you say you feel like you are bombarding people with wedding stuff and doing it so soon...but I am sure the guests will appreciate the notice! Oh and I am putting most of the info on our website in case things change (ceremony/reception locations, etc).
  12. Thanks again juliboley and thanks Avens for the feedback! By reading posts in this forum it seems like each WC tells your something different!
  13. Does anyone have pictures and/or know which flowers are available for bouquets (flowers that are included in the package and ones that are extra cost)?
  14. Has anyone chose the Mint Breeze package? I originally thought I would for sure want the reception on the beach or at least an open air space, but when I found out the price difference and realized we would have 50+ people (the Strawberry package costs $66/pp after 15 people!) I had to look at other packages due to budget. I am thinking it might be nice to have air conditioning for dancing and such but still having a hard time deciding on this... Any advice?
  15. I am in the very beginning planning stages and having trouble deciding on the wedding package. We will have around 40-50 guests (this may change as booking gets closer) and want the traditional reception with dinner, drinks, and dancing. It looks as though the packages that would allow this are more expensive and include other things that we do not care to have (live music, massages, facials, flowers (we want to do our own), etc.). I am open to places other than the beach but really don't like the banquet hall idea. Does anyone have ideas?! THANKS!
