Question to my 2014 brides...I'm actually going to my first dress shopping trip this weekend. I've seen some beautiful veils on ebay for less than $20, was going to make my own but figured I can save the hassle by just ordering it from ebay. Is it too soon or should I snatch up the deal?

Natalie, Are you hiring a pastor in the area? Will they charge an outside vendor fee to use a pastor?

K pounder, originally my date was october 26 2013 but i had to push it back. Ive been communicating with the wc but havent booked the march 2014 date bc the books don't open until april but i had my oct date confirmed with no problem. So i'm not worried about that. I am using a travel age t from apple vacations. No quotes yetbecuase again the flights prices aren't listed until ayear in advance so i have to wait until march. My guest list is at about 60 (very huge families). I'm confident it will be less than $1500 for a week per person. I actually am making my own save the dates and invites. Theres a bunch of great threads from other brides that made it super duper easy to make em yourself instead of spending money which could go to a other part of your wedding. As soon as i send them out, i will post pics for you to see if you like. Happy planning!

Hi Kpounder. For me the decision was easy. Punta Cana! I got engaged there and I'm dominican. I though of Riviera Maya but it is more expensive than the DR to get married and from what I read from fellow brides, there's a couple of hurdles you have to jump to be able to get married there. Not sure how true that it but as soon as I saw the prices for Mexico, Punta Cana was the clear choice for me. I'm getting married at the Barcelo Bavaro Palace Deluxe. If you plan on a DR wedding, I'd suggest you take a look at it. I'm doing boarding pass for the STDs and Passports for the invites. My wedding is in March, hope to have the STDs out by early Feb and invites by June/July

Hi Girls!! I don't feel so bad anymore. 2013 hit and the planner has come out! I'm going crazy thinking that it's really not that much time!! I actually started to do my save the dates. Let me tell you...it's a labor of love. I didn't realize how time consuming it would be. I plan on doing the invitations soon after. (I'm a grad student and am on break til Feb.) Since I plan to send the invites out as early as June, think it's time to get started on those too. Congrats to all of us 2014 brides!!!

Im a 2014 bride also, march 8, 2014! Iwill be sending the STDs out in jan. I already took advantage and got my postcards for the rsvps for the invites and our website is up. I also feel a little crazy for planning so far ahead and buying things but i am sure i will get a better deal on things since im so ahead of the game.

Just an update Girls!! So I just spoke to the photographer over at Caribbean Emotions and he just informed me, he did a photo shoot today at BBPD and the bride and groom only paid the day pass fee for him to be on the premises with no problems!! I might be using them now!

Aquatracie: Congratulations!!! You look so beautiful and happy in your photos. I teared a bit going through the photos. Very very pretty!!!! Have any previous brides had their ceremony on the pier? Tropical Pictures have updated their facebook page and the FI has fallen in love with the idea of a pier wedding which might be a happy medium for us. I get the beautiful background of the clear blue water and he doesn't have to wear flip flops with his tux lol. Have you girls seen the photos? They're breathtaking!!!

When I went back in 2009, there was a popcorn machine there and little kids were running around with bags of popcorn. I'm not sure about now

So we've made progress this week. My wedding website is up (weddingwire.com/jalimel) and my MIL loves it! I have my appointment books with Pronovias for January 12 and I can not wait!! And most importantly, we've decided to go with Apple Vacations as the travel agent. Have any of the past brides or future brides using Apple? I liked the way they seem to handle the room blocks and how most of that money will be applied to our own trip expenses.

TRivera, that's the part that bothers me the most. I just want my moment!! Lol I don't want to go dress shopping together, nothing! I've waited 6 lonnngg years to get engaged and now the wedding was pushed back b/c i was so considerate of other people. I just want to be selfish for once. LOL

Natalie, I'm actually planning to do a snorkeling cruise with my guests who actually want to go. What do you have planned for your bachelorette over there? My friends were thinking of a joint one out there for both of us but I'm not sure what to do. I'm pretty much over the idea of strippers

Thanks for your kind words Samsbride. We spoke and she assured me that she will still be my bridesmaid and be there every step of the way. However, I'll have to see it to believe it. I'm going to focus on my own wedding and put all of my energy in making sure this will be a trip people will remember.

Bjeantil, she is definitely planning on having a wedding in Florida and we're from New York, no words. I'm over it, I will continue to plan my own wedding and if i can make it to hers, then i can. If I can't, oh well, she'll have to understand

I just texted her this afternoon and was very coy and just said how i just realized the date she chose was very close to mine. She's so oblivious that she responded, your wedding is in March 2014 and i told her yea...and you're chosing Nov 28 2013, 3 months from my date. I just got back how if it were up to her she'd have a summer wedding, blah, blah. That it wasn't planned, just happened that way. So I know where we stand.

I know this isn't the thread for this so i hope you girls don't mind. I really just need to vent a little. So My best friend/bridesmaid decided to get married secretly last week and now is planning this huge wedding exactly 3 months away before my own date. She seems to have forgotten I'm also getting married and wants me to help her with dresses and do her invites. I haven't even gone dress shopping for myself yet and feel like I can't invite her to go with me anymore b/c she'll be like the girls on "Say Yes to the Dress" downstairs looking for her own dress while I'm trying mine on. Everything that has to do with my own wedding will possibly be put on the back burner simply b/c she's going to be married TWICE before my own wedding. Is it wrong to feel this way? Anyone else have this dilemma going on? HELP!!!

I used TP for my engagement photos and they came out great!! I'm just concerned about the photo packages. I don't need any prints honestly just the damn cd, my mom can create the photo album herself! But thanks for the info, I will definitely try to customize my own package also.

I think we will go with just a regular DJ, my friend will probably be the MC for the reception. I guess once the date comes closer, and Susana actually starts sending me updated prices, I will really make executive decisions. lol
