  1. tracie, I saw the video on fb. You looked great and that dress just called me all over again. I can't show the fiance bc of the dress but I will show my mom. the dj seemed to really get the party going in the club! looked like a ton of fun!
  2. bridetobeabcd, I basically knew where we we'r going to get married, the date was the only issue. we had an original date booked and didn't work out so we just picked a new date and I booked directly with the resort not through my ta. I can't stress myself with making sure it's completely affordable for everyone ifiit's not the location or time we want. the important people will be there regardless and DR is not very expensive to begin with. Do your research, fall inlove with a location, choose a date and give people a year to save. That's what I'm doing to avoid some of the destination wedding "stress"
  3. disazaja..if we.don't hear from you before you leave, have fun! and Congratulations!! let us know if they give you the amazing upgrades!! Ahh! so excited for you!!
  4. Candacey, Marlene should be sending you the bank information to make a wire transfer from your own bank. I have BOA and was really relieved that I could just schedule a transfer to their account right from my account online. No having to call the bank or anything. They received the funds 3 days later but Susana took almost a week and a half to get back to me.
  5. Tamara, I sent you a request. Question: Have you decided on your menu? Are you allowing your guests to have a choice? I'm wondering if it's worth it? I'm sure the MIL will insist on it. Just wondering how to address it. If i decide to let people have a choice, the RSVP cards have already been printed, and I didn't include that in it. Wait until people start making their deposits and booking? and then send like a "Thank You for Booking" card and have them choose between "meat, chicken, or fish"?
  6. Disazaja, What part of queens? My FI is in Queens and I'm there every weekend!
  7. Haha Tamara, I was thinking the same but didn't want to overstep my boundaries! I'm actually in Harlem. Do you have facebook?
  8. my mom actually made a joke that barcelo could justSTART renting the dress as part of their packages lmfao!
  9. just like trivera's and we're actually getting married at the same resort. Its a very popular style for a reason obviously. its beautiful!
  10. Hi girls, So I ended up ordering my dress from dhgate seller bingbridal. I just thought the picture of the final product in the listing looked of better quality. For $215, it shouldn't be too bad. Here's the link. http://www.dhgate.com/wr2104-latest-real-sample-ball-luxury-wedding/p-ff8080813bdf4856013c05b786cc619c.html#s13-16-null I will keep you girls updated. I figured I'd order early in case I have any dress nightmares.
  11. Tamara, according to this site: http://travel.state.gov/passport/faq/faq_1741.html, which is the official travel department. It says 9 months. If your passport is about to expire, I'd call them up to make sure they let you travel, explain that you didn't know and you're getting married!
  12. yes hessina! im done looking at dresses! Thanks for the advice!
  13. hi girls so I think I have said yes to the dress this weekend! it's the ever popular allure 8862 & I had the tears and all! it's a year left but I know this is the one.
  14. So Trivera, guess what? I'm an Allure bride!!!!! I will def be ordering from babyonline
  15. It doesn't seem like it's worth it unless you use the rooftop for the ceremony. It's definitely more a private option. I wanted to do my welcome dinner up there, no way I'm spending $500 extra and I can't have food up there. I fell in love with the pier from the first time I ever stood on it and once i saw they could do the ceremony there, the beach was no longer an option.
  16. Bjeantil I'm actually not sure if you can. I haven't looked into the djs yet as my wedding isn't until NEXT march. If the DJ isn't easily recognizable i can see you just paying the resort day pass instead of the vendor fee. You would have to ask your WC if this can be done as far as the fire works
  17. One year from today!!! Ahhh I'm so excited! And Susana did get back to me on Bar Higuey "Dear Jalitza, Good morning, Please be informed that the Bar Higuey is confirmed for your wedding. Have a nice day." No runaround or nothing!
  18. Sam, How many guests are you having? i imagine the balcony isn't for like 50 pple right?
  19. So Tamara, right off the bat I can tell you that the first video is NOT at BBPD, it's at Barcelo Punta Cana, where I got engaged and did my photo session. So while it is Tropical Pictures, the videographers are not the same. There has to be SOMEONE at BBPD who used the videography service!! I want a video too. But I think their video service will be adequate enough. It's something I'll just show my kids but I could use understand that you would use it if you're having an AHR which I'm not. They really do know what they're doing so don't stress too much! They've been making brides' dreams come true lol
  20. Tamara, I just did a search and found an entire forum on DJ Mannia. Here's the contact info Carlos Martínez General Director Mannia Cancun-Mannia Punta Cana www.manniapuntacana.com Some brides said they got quoted $850 for 4 hours. Here's the forum http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/t/53541/dj-mannia-punta-cana/30
  21. Honestly Tamara, I think I'm going to have to go with them. My FI loved the engagement photos they did for us (he says "quality over quantity") and they do know what they're doing! And my mom has offered to pay for it. I still think it's way too much money but flying someone out from here (I haven't gotten a lot of responses from photographers here in the city, some of them want me to pay them their fee and their damn vacation) will even out to be about the same. I do think what I will do is ask my uncle in the capital to look for DJs and just pay them for their travel and fee if i see that BBPD charges me a ridiculous fee to use their DJ. I think if you just "sweet talk" them in Spanish over at reception very nicely, (maybe even slide them a $20 or so), it shouldn't be a problem. I find I've gotten a lot of help when I spoke to them in Spanish and was very nice. I spoke to different photographers in the Punta Cana area where they've said some brides at BBPD just paid the visitor's day pass and others that say they do so much work there that BBPD would know they're not your guest. Do you have contact info for DJ Mannia? Do you know if he's any good? I think if you find someone from the capital or close like in Higuey, you may be lucky where the hotel won't recognize them as a vendor.
  22. Natalie, I've traveled to DR many times since I'm dominican. I've never really had a bad experience when it comes to the transfers. You just have to know that it's just like a cab ride. Expectations can't be that high unless you hire a private car company to come get you. Usually I've always been lucky and was always one of the first stops. However I will say, that I almost NEVER take the airport transfer back to the airport when I'm leaving as I never want to leave and they want to get you as early as they can to account for the many hotel stops they have to do. I always just have a cab called from the resort when it's time for me to leave lol. I think the company Tamara is using will be fine. If I were you, I would def ask your TA if the transfer is private. That's something I will look into, depending on how many guests actually book.
